Well, here is my question. I actually thought you were going to answer it at the end but it got diverted a little. I'm 6'2 and like 3/4 so lets say I'm 6'3 with a 34" Inseam. I'm buying my bike online (to save a lot of money) and I have a choice between a 56cm and 58 cm frame. Both the owners are 6'1 and say that it works well for either of them. Should I go for the 58 cm?

thats a pretty nice trek you are riding on, bet the price is steep tho. if you really want something to ride that burns calories get a single speed or a fixed gear, trust me you will feel the difference in the legs after just the first ride.

I have a mountain bike, Specialized Hardrock Sport, with the right padded shorts and a good gel seat you can really get into it and once you learn how to manipulate the gears it can become very challenging and you will learn a lot about your own athletic level and strength.

Yes, I bought a bike 2 weeks ago - wish I took more time to decide the bike shop actually. They were attentive, but there's a young 18 year old (or so) guy who does the tune ups and I've had to go in 3 times already and it's not quite right. Loose breaks and gears making noises. I would have done a little bit more research on the staff and their skills.

Also, you'll want to choose a bike shop close to your home (or work) so you can go as often as you need.

Boston is a great city for biking. I remember when I was a kid my friends and I would bike route 2 from Boston to Walden Pond then smoke a joint. We were like 17. All hill work going to Walden Pond and then draft behind 18 wheelers going home. We were reckless but had fun. I got my bike at the Bicycle Exchange when it was in Harvard Sq. The best racing bike in the world. Peugeot. I don't know if Peugeot makes then anymore and a Brooks saddle.
