I have to correct myself, Numerous countries require a crew to be employed of considered "superyacht", which is anything over 24 metres.

But it really would depend on where you plan on taking it.

A yacht this size crew would be optional, though if you were looking to pilot this without a captain then basic training would be a good idea! The course for keeping within 150 miles from coast and below 200 gross tonnes would be ideal (takes 6 weeks).

If your buddy had one similar to this it would cost him much more to fuel up. A boat in the 45-55 ft range would cost about that too fuel up. It is a little more than that to fuel up my 55 ocean yacht super sport.
