  • so fuckin good!!

  • "Hey do! Merry do! What be you a-thinking?" :P

    LOTRO has a superb soundtrack.

  • This song used to be called The Shire Theme, when the game was called Middle Earth Online. It's a shame what happened. They turned a beautiful living sandbox MMO into a cheap WoW clone. Why bother with all the little things that try to add immersion when the entire game design counteracts it? All the stupid trash mobs, the lame quests, the instancing, the invisible walls. This game could have been great. Shame.

  • Of all the mmos i've ever played, this is the only time where I suddenly started to smile upon hearing the song. Still always brightens my day to hear it. :)

  • The hobbits play this with flutes at night in the shire

  • Ahh, I love this song, when I come to Tom Bomadils house I always enter it and run around in it just to hear the song xD

  • I used to go to the house and sit there just so I could listen to this song :)

  • @skarloe and @xDangerouslyAwkwardx , the correct reason, why they left tom out in the movies is, cause he is to BIG! If you know his story and where he's from, you will be shocked! Cause he's so powerful, that he would win the "war" alone! Read more aubout him. He s a fantastic powerful person, and one of the oldest in middleearth!

  • This song is so... perfect. Absolutely relaxing, and such a happy balm. Every time I had to go into the Old Forest, I'd make sure to come to his house and listen. It was just so... nice.

  • Tom bombadil wouldn't have fit in the movies at all. It would have broken pace and turned out rather silly. Particularly with all the songs and such he constantly sings. Trust me, it would have ruined the films. Can you imagine a live-action version of a man described as he is the book? It would look absolutely IDIOTIC.

  • I think the majority of us who played this game found this house while near death or completely on accident. We never forgot where it was after though!

  • I watched the movies before I read the books, and from the moment I first encountered Tom Bombadil in the books, I thought to myself, "Why leave him out? This guy's amazing!"

And when he saved them from the barrow-wights (which were a totally unexpected enemy encounter for me at the time) it just made me admire the old fellow even more.

    This music defines him!

  • i just love this song *-*

  • Do yah know the game? This song will always remember me at the time, me and my friends played it 12 h a day! Now we don't play anymore. But those times were veerry verry beautiful! The atmosphere in the game takes every player into a magic world!

  • This is why I love this game :) sometimes i go to the house of my kinship and just listen to this awesome song :)

  • Inspire me! Listen to the dymanic in this song! goekogokeogeogrotàppd^zfzgzeg

Its hard to dance and write -_-

  • i love how in the game there can be emotion and you get real into it. i have had some quest where there is no fighting. but just interacting with the charcters of the game and i really enjoyed myself being part of their stories.

  • i'm almost sure that Tom could have won the war by himself

  • I hate this song...

...because it has an end... gotcha!

  • The disliker is the Old Man Willow... ;)

  • It's songs like this and when Tom killed samborg, that just draws you in.

This game to me is pure amazing. It fast when it needs to be ,and slow when it needs to be. The world just seems to be alive and thriving, The people of LOTRO are probably the best group ive played with I just hope this game sticks around for a few more years, i know i am....Thanks for the memories Tom!

  • O Lord of the Rings online, there you are fighting the lord of the undead, he's about to kill you then tom destroys a rock wall behind he and is like "why du hell are you alive zombie," and with a wave of his had calls some lighting and kills the lord, then looks to you and is like, come lets eat.

  • this song bring happiness

  • @doodlatouch +9 TO HOPE xD

  • This would have made a great Hibernia song on Dark Age of Camelot.

  • yoohoo-merry-doo my hartsies ^^

  • I miss playing this game sometimes.. I've had a really amazing experience playing this with kin mates.. Playing Fear of the Dark outside of the Prancing Pony etc. I got bored at lvl 31 though, because of the standard quests. The story line quests were obviously awesome.

  • YES THIS SONG IS GREAT I LOVE U MAN FOR UPLOADING IT I HEARD IT 1ST TIME TODAY THAT I DID THE CHAPTER QUEST FROM 1st BOOK I SPENT LIKE 30 MINUTES GOING IN AND OUT OF HIS HOUSE JUST TO LISTEN THE SONG :)

  • i want this for my house. i mean the music. its awesome

  • i love this song!

  • "Hey dol merry dol my hearties!"

  • Easily the best song in the entire LotRO OST. Makes me wanna start playing it again, just so I can pay Ol' Tom a visit

  • FRODO LIVES!

  • thank god for whoever uploaded this!

  • i love chillin in toms house

  • This song makes me happy, I go to Tom's house just to hear it, it's a really nice contrast to the Old Forest's music :)

  • Where can you get this song for housing?

  • @StealthForce007 Become allied with the mathom society then you can buy it, it's locked to your character I think.

  • @jdbye I was so happy the day I found this for my kin house.

  • My guess is that Bombadil is Eonwe. He got bored of all the smiting bad guys.

  • Tom Bombadil is exactly like Väinämöinen in the Finnish epic Kalevala. Both are old bearded singing men with intrest towards young blonde ladies.

  • @LibertyWaxlips lol what does tom exactly do with the ladies?

  • @jackafa92 read the book

  • @jackafa92

Read the adventures of Tom Bombadil...

  • I've just read the chapter of the book they meet tom Bombadil very good chapter

  • I've uploaded the MP3 in case anyone wants it. This upload has somehow become my most popular, so thanks everyone who watched it and replied :D

  • @jdbye thank you, sir! the somehow = tom bombadil. his power transcends the page..

  • hey ho merry dol me hearties :D

  • I just chill in Tom's house to this song sittin in mah awesome gear >:O

  • can somebody make a never ending loop of this song?

  • Where did you download it?

  • @simlaf98 I used an extractor program to extract the sound file directly from lotro. Don't remember what it was called but all the files where numbered in the order it found them so I had no idea which was the right one.

  • The song itself tell stories beyond any beings mind. You close your eyes and see Tom Bombadill at his wonderful house, dancing and singing, like there is no trouble in the world. It gets you up when you are down, brings you to a place no dreams could take you to and you just dont want to stop listen to it, you want to stay in that wonderful place... this is real magic.

  • The Old Forest, back when there was no map, I was running from the wolves because my morale was at >100 and I saw this inviting house on the edge of a cliff...I entered, hoping to at least for the time being, be safe, although I expected some kind of evil creature inside, as well. And then this music started and everything turned brighter and more joyful (in the coloring), and I saw Tom Bombadil dancing to the music...it was just great! :D

  • I remember when the Old Forest never had a map, and when I got lost I was like. " SHIT SHIT SHIT, I'M SCREWED!" Then I found a strange looking house, I entered it... And I was never lost again, :D

  • reminds me of legend of zelda in a way.

  • Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo! Ring a dong! hop along! fal lal the willow! Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!

  • Hey, do, howdy do, my heartie?

  • Tom should have been in the movies.. would have been awesome

  • @Bassman0683 ya, i was so upset about the things that got skipped in the trilogy. no tom bombadil, no barrow downs, no sauruman taking over the shire. not even in the extended edition, though saruaman is killed in rotk extended edition, just not the same way as the book. its a shame, but at least the lord of the rings trilogy followed the story perfect for the most part. just wish someone would remake eragon.

  • @Bassman0683 Yes... played by Brian Blessed, now wouldn't that have been awesome?

  • Like many people I was freaking lost in the Old Forest and then found Tom's House....this songs starts to play and I don't want to leave anymore!

    Ringtone now!

  • I love Tom Bombadil and I love this song <3

It is such as happy as him :)

  • Wait, who had the brazenness to dislike this? EEZ ZO GOOD.

  • So many memories from this great game :)

  • This is the music in my house :D

  • Frodo: Fairy lady! Tell me... who is Tom Bombadil?

    Lady Goldberry: He is.

    =D

  • his own master :p

  • Best part in the game imo ;)

  • Tom Bombadil kicks ass and chews bubble but he's all out of gum.

  • @junkietomato haha love the Duke Nukem reference

  • This song makes me kinda sad. It reminds me of when I was little and went to kindergarden...

  • i love this track so much i put it in my house in the game :P

  • Tom Bombadil is fearless!

  • HEY DOO MERRY DOO MY HEARTSIE!

  • Tom puts the "Bomb" back in Bombadil.

  • I was feeling pretty down after today, since I left an exam with that horrid feeling that I failed it, but this song really boosted my spirits. Bless Tom Bombadil.

  • I only come to the old forest and bombadils house to listen to this music <3

  • jeez, i love this soundtrack.. i'm still looking for another soundtrack for lotro..

If you open the credits at the main menu, there comes also a guitar song.. or whatever which instrument is used there, anyways. If someone knows the name of this song, then please visit my chanel and sned the link or tell me the name please !

    Thanks

  • @skniwimmeL Yeah, this may be a bit late buuut... the song in the credits is "Autumn Ale", a song available for housing. Have fun mate.

  • In my oppinion I think in the minstrel class description that the minstrel class should have been inspired by Tom Bombadil instead of that elf woman whatever her name is. Just like in the minstrel class video Tom is a true herald of hope! That's just my opinion

  • i would like to recreate his house to live in for real.... have this song playing too

  • This song is awesome! I am going to find him soon.

In a day or two I will try to find him.

  • Tom Bombadil - happiest man in the world, the person for whom you seek to find joy in the world. I think i speak for all of us when i say there is a little tom bombadil in all of us. Come, Sing, Dance and enjoy the music.

  • You should put his voice saying Be Boo Merry Do(Or whatever it is) over the music

  • Sometimes I go there just to listen to this song

  • Fun Fact: You can get Tom Bombadil's Theme music for your own in game player house. You need to reach kindered status with the Mathom Society of Michel Delving before being able to purchase it...but It's SO worth it.

Another fun fact! In the books, Tom Bombadil's house is oft referred to as the 'single safest place in all of middle earth'.

  • @masterfulmuffin nice info. but i do not think everybody is playing lord of the rings here :-)

  • @masterfulmuffin I'm readin the book right now, i think when Tom will finally tell more about himself. It's when it's raining at his house? he says it's Goldberry's washing time or somthing

  • oh how peaceful.. great!

  • Fun fact about this upload, I checked almost 4000 ogg files before I found the right one, took me a few hours... but I wanted it as my ringtone :)

  • @jdbye Totally worth it :)

  • @jdbye i got it as ringtone too ;)

  • @jdbye THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

  • This song is special to me, I was lost in the forest runing and trying to escape from the wolves, I reached the house by accident, I was kind of scared, I thought it was an instance or something like that, when I entered and saw the "Hope" buff on me and Tom dancing to this song I instantly fell in love with the place, so magical <3

  • @SurielPendragon Yeah, the same thing happened to me, Old Forest is creepy. I wasn't looking for it the first time I found it, it was before I got to the quest.

  • @jdbye @SurielPendragon I shitted in my pants the first time I entered the Old Forest

  • @jdbye mhm. I was so lost and scared in the Old forest and then I ran and came to Tom Bombadil's house and he was jumping around. And he's house it so pretty!

  • @SurielPendragon lol wtf

  • @SurielPendragon

It's funny how we can accidentaly relive something close to what some Hobbits went through... I belive Turbine did somehow a good job on that part :)

  • @SurielPendragon funnily enough that reminds me of what happens in the book with Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin, as they get lost in the woods and Tom finds them and they feel safe because of him ^^

  • @SurielPendragon Same damn thing. I was just wandering around looking for quest mobs, when all of a sudden I see a house and.....wait, this music is nice....wait, is that TOM!? Hell yeah!

  • @SurielPendragon omg, exactly what happened to me :D

  • @SurielPendragon One of the best moments in Lotro; one of many^^

  • Player does not simply XP into Mordor...

Tom Bombadil simply walks into Mordor ^^

  • simple, beautiful, happy.

  • Thats A hard quest to do alone if ur not the right level, i was lvl 16 or 17 when i trird alone imbosible alone

  • Adventure, here i come!! :D

  • I loved this theme right after i entered toms house :-)

  • @Lexikon88 Me too, it's one of my favorite lotro moments.

  • i love how there is no hate in these comments that tells me how great this song is and how great tom bombadil is. i remember going into his house in the game and hearing the music for the first time and thinking to myself.... this is amazing.

  • @bonpumic000 I remember when I was in here with another guy I had been questing with. The first thing he says to me is "I love this music."

  • @Luxai yea i think i have about 2,000 of these views because i listen to this when i play lotro. i first heard it when i went to tom's house for the first book quest and instantly loved it

  • Reading this as an 11-year old.. You can't quite grasp the ''symbolism'' or hidden meanings the book contains, you are completely immersed in the book. I couldn't tell the difference between reality and lord of the rings, and that, is pure reading pleasure I will never ever experience again =(. My memory of Tom Bombadill is especially strong, it is one of the most charitable things in my life really =)

  • "There must always be some riddle, even in a mythical age. Tom Bombadil is one" -J. R. R. Tolkien

  • Haha, Tom Bombadil is one of my favourite LOTR characters. Hey do merry do, be hearty and merry, for tomorrow we die!

  • what part in lotro do you meet Tom

  • @followernumber1 vol 1 book 1 of the book quests

  • Comment removed

  • @followernumber1 You don't necessarily have to find him at a certain part, but it is recommended that you are about Level 14-17 before you go into the forest where he lives.

  • so relaxing

  • Hey dol, merry dol! You are in the house of Tom Bombadil!

What could you be a-thinking? The dead should not be waking! Vanish into the sunlight! Leave your barrows empty!

Was it worth the trouble? Did you learn your lesson? Let the dead sleep their dreamless sleep. Walk yourself upon the green grass under the sun once more!

  • Uh, sushi? I've never tried to argue against you on any of those points, chill :P I only stated he's not powerless outside of old forest.

  • Was it worth it? Have you learnt your lesson? let the dead sleep their dreamless sleep. Walk in the sunshine and feel the grass under your feet once more!

  • I think of all the good characters and evil ones in Tolkiens World, Tom bombadill is probably the strongest and most powerfull being. and yes I would love to be art his house and eat and drink and be happy :)

  • @Scarecroweb

Have you ever read the Silmarillion? There are things in the First Age of Middle Earth that would put Tom Bombadill to shame.

    Ungoliant comes to mind....

    Or Morgoth...

Tom may be powerful, but it stems from where he's located. Take him out of the Old Forest and he is nothing.

  • @sushiisfishy Funny thing is, in the game, he kills an undead king that was invincible to you in one spell. And that was in the barrow downs, a fair ways from old forest.

  • @Luxai

    Four problems with that:

    1. when you first face Sambrog you're weak as shit, so it's hardly surprising you can't hurt him.

    2. The Barrow Downs are close enough to The Old Forest (a valley just outside it) that it could be argued that they used to be part of it, and were later cleared and build on.

    3. Tom's powers in the Forest are nearly limitless, so it's possible that while significantly weakened in the BD he's still strong enough to one shot Sambrog.

    4. It's a friggen game.

  • @Luxai

Ultimately, the fact that he one shots Sambrog still doesn't make him the most powerful entity in all of Middle Earth's history. ESPECIALLY when placed up against the offerings of other Ages.

For instance, Morgoth was strong enough to hold off all the other Valar for almost an entire Age. He was so powerful that he countered Eru himself at the creation of the world there by creating Evil. And not just a thing that was evil, Evil itself.

    Tom just can't match up.

  • @sushiisfishy pay more attention to the Silmarillion please, Melkor was indeed equal to Manwe Aule and Ulwe in strength, but when the Valar finally went to war against him he fell relatively quickly, granted the force of their conflict sunk a third of Middle Earth in the end he still didn't last long. Also, have to remember that the balrogs are Maiar, and he had a vast number of those.

Also, he didn't counter Eru, he interrupted the song seeking glory, but Eru always cut him off in the end.

  • @sushiisfishy also, Tom Bombadil is insanely powerful, not just in his own forest, he just doesn't care about anything outside it...bear in mind the Barrow Downs are technically outside his realm

  • @sushiisfishy How can you knwo that? Although he never leaves Old Forest, it's just his choice, there was never anyone that said his power was restricted to that are. Some even say he might be God (Eru Ilúvatar) himself which is reinforced by Goldberry responding to Frodo about who he (Tom) is by saying just "He is" as in God "I Am that I Am". However, almost every race (elves, dwarves, men, etc.) calls him the oldest creature alive...

  • Who wrote/composed this? Brilliant!

  • Ho! Tom Bombadil, Tom Bombadillo!

By water, wood and hill, by the reed and willow,

By fire, sun and moon, harken now and hear us!

Come, Tom Bombadil, for our need is near us!

  • @Canisslupo You, sir, are awesome for knowing this.

  • I play EVE online....but I listen to this game/movies soundtrack. I played LOTRO for about a year and a half and recently switched to EVE online. Its a VERY different kind of MMORPG

  • @widowmakr124 It's different from any other mmo out there. I played EVE-o for a couple years and ended up quitting in frustration. I wanted to be a pirate but had already joined an anti-pie corp and didn't really want to leave since I'd made a bunch of friends in it...and there's just no profit in pirate hunting.

  • stop argueing about what the best mmo is.just listen to tom's song

i played wow for 2 years and now i play lotro.lotro has something that WoW doenst have, dunno what it is

  • @Alparslansss The bad thing is that even i wanted Lotro free but its not so free only from lvl 1-25 its fun but then u need to pay for extra content and stuff phekk.. i even need Turbine points for exchanging money,

  • @TheRahan100 Not really. I have gotten to lvl 35 only on what quests I have and skirmishes

  • tom bombadil was a don in lotro but he was more classic in FOTRPS2 SNM

  • this always makes me happy and want to jig.

  • cant believe i just had the most massive of e-guments on here. way to taint a classic tune :(

  • tututututututu

  • why does it stop after the violin starts to get into it?? I WANT IT TO GO CRAZY FOR ANOTHER 3 MINUTES!!! damn these tight budgets

  • I remember visiting Tom Bombadil for the first time as a young Loremaster. ;( Great times!

  • This was originally the Shire theme. I had it on my computer back in 2003 when LotRO was still going to be a sandbox game called Middle Earth Online, before it became a boring WoW clone

  • @SigandGibbs

You know, LoTRO is anything but boring.

  • @Pakanahymni Maybe if WoW was your first MMO. It didn't do anything new or interesting, and it didn't stick to the LotR storyline. I preferred Middle Earth Online. That at least had some cool ideas.

  • @SigandGibbs

LoTRO was my first MMO :p

  • @Pakanahymni Well there you go. I can see how it'd be interesting then.

  • @SigandGibbs Calling this a wow close is like saying anything is a copy of anything. Games follow the same principles, it's their content and atmosphere that make them. Just because you are jaded and can't enjoy things for what they are don't assume others are the same. Lotro has a feel, and lore unrivaled in any other MMO and i speak from experience.

  • @Questionere respect the negative opinions, stop the internal wars! you have the power...

i am neutral in this world. i see flaws and good things in everything. thats what it IS to him. a clone of WoW. he doesnt see anything more of it so why try to change his view? i wouldnt think of trying to change yours! respect... compassion.... understanding........... peace

  • Comment removed

  • @rogerthat155 Take your own advice, and respect my opinion. :) Good day.

  • @Questionere i didnt contest your opinion of this game at all. i feel the same toward the game, i love it.

respect requires a certain mental process, it isnt a trait its a choice. u have to care about not hurting the person then choose what you say so as you dont.

you direct negative 'opinions' toward a man like yourself and expect respect from it? few people are so open minded. and fewer are humble as to take on board criticism of such a benign nature without interception by the ego.

  • @Questionere my point is simple, you were rude to a person who was not rude to you. you did not respect, or understand that he was not attempting to deliberately insult you with his comment. you jumped right in and tried to change him!

i was not rude to you and you dismissed me with a one liner that might aswell have been 'fuck off'. i tried simply to bring a brighter person out of you, nothing more. if you dont want to be then ill be gone. but i wouldnt have said a thing if i didnt respect ppl

  • @rogerthat155 "@Questionere "I didn't contest your opinion of this game at all. i feel the same toward the game, i love it." I did not say you contested it, I said respect my opinion. Regarding your first statement. "respect the negative opinions, stop the internal wars! you have the power..." I was trying to be polite about it and avoid this. I'm not even going to touch on the depth of the hypocrisy in those posts, it's not healthy. I'm sorry for being rube. Good day :)

  • @Questionere so youd rather use a big word you create the meaning for to dismiss how fucking rude you were to two people you barely met - one expressed his opinion at an inanimate object and one expressed his disdain for your rudeness toward him.

an opinion aimed at something inanimate is easy to respect. he said, this game is shit, u said, basically, 'if ur head wasnt screwed up, u wouldnt think that'.

i said hey, chill out. you insulted us both, stop quoting me, for one, i know what imsaying

  • @Questionere and 2, stop expecting people to respect the fact that youve been rude and obnoxious. its moronic to trust that much and will get you punched in the face.

  • @Questionere you wanna bring up respect? IF you respected anything anyones opinion at all youd have left that dude well afuckinglone. if you had said 'i disagree, i think this is good' THATS an opinion worthy of respect, thats sharing of information and feelings so that we may better understand eachother. u set fire to that notion and didnt even have the decency to piss on the flames.

for that, you get someone like me letting you know you've been a bad bastard. my work is done, ure just evil.

  • @Questionere And youre not sorry for being rude because you were rude in that post, rude dismissive and blind to how rude youve actually been. Yes im trying to change your mind but its not a crime to disrespect an opinion that has offended and disrespected someone already. Like taking down a burglar. Do I respect that hes just stolen all that shit for his own reasons or do I step in and let him know hes being a bad bastard? im not sorry for my minor hero complex and i hope you leave me alone now

  • @rogerthat155 Enough said, you just told me you would "punch me in the face" Which is laughable, then in the next post said. "now leave me alone" As i recall you are the one doing all the typing and arguing, look at your recent activity all you do is argue. Go relax somewhere and lay off stress, it's twisting your already feeble perspective of reality. Calling someone names, then saying "now leave me alone" Doesn't make you right or even logical, it makes you a coward and a hypocrite.
