  • what a thriller!!!!

  • i want to see more finals between nadal and federer, there killing to watch

  • nadal has to start playing like this again.

  • @DonChilenito Yeah this was outstanding. I think his body doesn't give him the chance to play like this again.

  • Roger deserved the Grand Slam in 2009.

  • Nadal was too good for Olderer in this match.

  • Definitely one of the best tennis matches that was ever played. This, Rome 06 and Wimby 2008 are beyond everything else.

  • Who else thinks this is better than Wimbledon 08?

  • @s900203 i'm still hesitating...And how about Rome 2006 in the trio?

  • Nadal is my fav player of all time after Agassi. He still haves to take his game up to a whole another level if he wants to keep up with Federer and Djokovic and Murray. Nadal will have to play at full blast at WTF ! VAMOS !!

  • That's why Babolat sold so many racquets.

  • when this two play.. they make tennis look like a whole new sport!

  • @DonChilenito You should rather say when they USED to play, at the moment there are just to many weaknessses in their game.

  • @splash2011UPLOAD. yes but i bet that if the meet each other again in a final amazing point will be played in the match :)

  • those crazy spins are against all possible physic laws..

  • Two players on top of their game, i miss those matches

  • Maybe Nadals best match and sure this was the las "vintage" Nadal match.-..

  • when you read the book 'Rafa', everything Rafa did in this match will just seem that much more outstanding giving that just 2 hours before this match, he could barely play... what a competitor..

  • @fierte does he say in the book, that he was shot, from the semi against verdasco?

  • @extradutyfelt1 yea. and for the first time in his life, Toni did something uncharacteristic. he started saying positive things to Rafa. it took a lot of ice baths and massages to get him moving again after that semi final.

  • @fierte I imagine..I find it strange, that toni would say negative things to rafa..at wimbledon 2008, in the rain delays, i know he told to rafa, to keep fighting and believing, anyway, i think toni is going to stop coaching rafa, one of these day´s..rafa said recently, there isn´t much new, that toni can say to him and toni also wants to spend more time with his wife and kids..thanks, for the info!

  • nadal = anti tennis

  • People talk about the Wimbledon final in 08, but in my opinion, the first 4 sets of this match was the greatest tennis ever played.

  • this is playstation stuff.

  • Legend match, legend playets

  • as with a lot of federer nadal matches. Decided by the points federer didnt take and the points nadal did (okay thats obvs but you know what I mean). This is my joint favorite match of theirs along with Rome 06 and Shanghai 06. The quality of the 'good' points is just outrageous.

  • call me crazy but at 4-2 30-15 in the first, i believe thats a match point for federer

  • @butterflycaught900

yes had he won that point, no doubt he would have won the set and the match.

  • Nadal sucks!

  • roger will win,i love roger,he is number one

  • pure genius vs pure genius

this video is actually poetry in motion

  • Tennis from an other world

  • Roger will always be #1 in TENNIS. Being #1 in a RANKING is nothing compared to that

  • Hey guys did you know Rafa was still feeling a little bit dizzy and trying to recover coz he had a 5 hour and 14 min match against Verdasco and somehow he managed another five setter and won it that's truly amazing :)

  • i miss that nadal

  • the problem with federer when he plays nadal is exampled in 1:00

    he never play with confidence!

look how sluggish he run to the rim.....he always give nadal the extra time to recover on defense hence why nadal always punished him with those passing shots.....go check how soderling played nadal in RG 09 and see how confident he was in his shots and movement- thats why he won!

  • Soderling played a perfect match in RG 09. That's why he won, but Rafa being Rafa still got a set off of him. But Soderling and anybody else who wants to defeat Rafa at RG needs to play a perfect match for 3 sets. Hell, it took Soderling in a perfect match for 4 sets to win. Soderling did play a perfect match at RG.

You do have a point. Fed has so much trouble defeating Rafa because his movement is ALWAYS sluggish

  • @SteveAugeriRocks i believe the main shot to beat nadal is the driving backhand cross court/down the line. Federer didnt have it, his short bh can turn topspin into sharp angles but not enough for a running nadal. Djokovic has such a bh though. With all the weapons fed had, he can't convert topspin into a driving shot at the bh.

  • you're right. You need to have a driving backhand to beat Rafa, otherwise it just won't happen

  • @kumoasis that's spot on. federer needs to be able to handle nadal's heavy topspin offensively. i think he finds himself having to play defensively on many shoulder height shots - he needs to be able to drive those into the court for a winner like djokovic or soderling can

  • @seph8765 sometimes he drive bh and win points off nadal, but its still too short. All the while i saw nadal losing the same way since like 2005. Fed's bh has uncanny ability to land inside service box, it might be he takes the ball on the rise at a higher point of bounce. Djokovic bh takes the ball at the beginning on the rise.

  • In the 08 Wimbledon and 09 Australian Open, Federer's serve and backhand were terrible. It's not because he played bad or had an off day, it is because Roger is affected mentally by Nadal. As of today, Roger is not only affected by Nadal, but also Djokovic and Murray. Mentally, Roger has to change. Sports psychologists are used by pro players as well. Roger tends to have an ego that he does not have to change anything. I think he has lost his motivation and I don't blame him. Look at his history

  • although roger could have played some points a lot better, and nadal others, this is one of my favorite matches. And i'm a huge roger fan, and definitely not a nadal fan. Some of the angles and spins and trajectories used in this match are insane.

  • that is just not from this world ..

  • I heard a rumor that feder actually literally pooped his tennis hsorts in practice . Why wouldn't he just go use the restroom?

  • Probably the greastest hardcourt match ever played

  • i've seen some dumb comment sections but this one is intense

  • Roger will be my number one forever

  • @mosmos90 : Mine too....Rafa fans have to agree... Because Roger plays so well...Rafa is determined to play better....so if Roger was not so great...even Rafa would not have played like this... :)

  • @mosmos90 your words touched me man :D for sure our number one

  • Can all the 10 year olds in the comments please stfu. None of you could even score one point against Federer or Nadal, that's why they are the two best players in the world, you fucking retards cannot even fathom the skill these two have. And for you guys to be saying, "I can beat them" "this guy on varsity at my school can beat Nadal" Are you fucking retarded? Some of the greatest players in the world can't beat Nadal or Federer. Get fucking lives.

  • @iknowhereyousleep

You awe me with your spelling errors and majestic tales. if ur on jv and you can beat federer or nadal, then who is #1 on ur varsity team? GOD? You're such an idiot, and learn how to spell, FAGGOT!

  • @XRustytunaX fuk u fagot i can spell as Good as i Want too fagot. the numbar One on V can pobably beat nadol but not federer fagot. im better then all. im curantley numbe 2 doublals on the jv tem but the coach is a du__SS

  • Rafa is just too difficult for Roger to figure out, everyone has that one person that has their number. I like both of em, Djokovic is next after those two.

  • Fuck nadal

  • Nadal WHO?

  • @TheMrAwesomeDx Rafael

Gracias a todos, Spain is different, da bastante asquito.

  • federer is better nadal is fake and gay and photoshopped his forehand is weak i can bagel him easy

  • @IKnowWereYouSleep no, you can't

  • @IKnowWereYouSleep you sound retarded, you say you serve 170mph AND you can beat federer and nadal? You are literally the biggest moron I've ever seen on youtube, and that's saying a lot.

  • @jamesi34 ya so??

  • @IKnowWereYouSleep If you are in JV, you can't beat Nadal or Federer. Shucks, I doubt you're in the team, you can spell for SHIT

  • @IKnowWereYouSleep wow your serve is 20 mph faster than the world record! thats really impressive! well done you.

  • Nadal played better then that at US Open 2010 finals against Djokovic

  • Wonderful match ! Thanks for posting this !

  • This is just a question. I respect both players immensely. I think we should change the names (since Santoro retired) to Federer = Magician and Nadal = Machine. But anyway, here's the question:

Djokovich's record against Nadal (7-16) is comparable to Federer (8-14). Yet Djokovich's record against Federer (6-13) seems to imply that Djokovich has an element to his game, which Fed doesn't, that works against Nadal. What is it? I'll post another comment with speculations I've heard of.

  • @weej267

There's the common one-handed backhand against heavy topspin speculation. But here's a more interesting one: Djokovich tends to have more long rallies with nadal, hitting relatively flat, heavy shots up the middle until he has a chance to move in. Meanwhile, Federer like to play a variety of shots and use angles. Some people argue that Federer's angles don't do enough because of Nadal's speed, and instead give Nadal better opportunities to aim for harder angles/corners of the court.

  • @weej267 I don't see how Djokovic's head to head against Federer indicates anything about how well he does against Nadal.

Also, going off the head to heads each of them have against Nadal, Federer's is higher which means he's better at handling Nadal than Djokovic is.

  • @rageneox I was just offering a theory. And that's not how I was talking about head-to-heads. I was saying that somehow djokovich's head-to-head against nadal is better than his head-to-head against federer. I think federer is better than djokovich, but it seems djoko has something in his game that helps him against nadal. I guess his height might be a factor too.

  • @weej267 it is djokovic's 2 handed backhand hitting against nadal. Federer cant hit consistent backhands after his prime age, but meeting djokovic is not much of problem as meeting nadal. Djokovic hits cleanly but do not have any strongest part of game, federer's forehand and at times backhand can hurt him. Djokovic loses to nadal after many sets because he don't have the stamina, but in rally he can beat nadal.

  • HAHAHAH!..SAME STUPID COMMENT IN EVERY FEDERER VIDEO. FEDERER CRIES WHEN LOSES...HHAHHAAHHA!!....I LOVE RAFA NADAL. .... SO CLASSY.

  • Nadal merely dominated for one year and there are more overrated comments than 2004. Let's see what nadal can do for next 4 yrs. If he lets federer dominate even one more year he is not going to break the grand slam record. Do people actually think he can win 8-10 roland garros, 5 wimby, 5 uso? i dare to bet against it someone down the line will give him trouble. Fed barely achieved 16 through with lots of luck in his side as well, no injuries for long rally tennis is rare (in history).

  • That's the most popular and the most intensive tennis finale in the world ! Rafa and Roger are two monsters in tennis !! Nobody can do it but Nadal and Federer are dressed "Nike" so they JUST DO IT :)

  • fed shouldn't have lost the point @0:55

  • Rafa doesn't believe in hardcourt, claycourt or grasscourt tennis. He believes in victory.

  • @Stylaz21 xactly!!!

  • Comment removed

  • rafael's passes and speed shots are so controlled and well-thought out, compare that to london world tour finals 2010 final against roger and you can see why nadal lost. in that match he just couldn't hit a decent passing shot or aggressive shot

  • @jzrnsk I'm not making excuses but when you play a 3 and a half hour match the day before...it may have a hand in the outcome, you know? Anyway that's tennis. Rafa can't win em all but he certainly will try.

  • Nadal is true king. True class. true champion. Love NAdal

  • @federerbestcIass Shut up. Dirty virgin slave.

You are a slave I forbade you from speaking.

Do not type the letter N Or A Or d Or a Or l

If you type the the words; Fed, Fred, Federer, Roger, Rog. Rogah! Swiss Maestro, TMF, The Swiss Express. Maestro, Frederer Ferrererererrrr, Rolex, A Crown For Every Achievement, Nike, Mirka, The Twins, Gavin Rossdale, Murse, Purse, Great, Greatest, G.O.A.T, Rafa, Nadal, Rafael, vamos, El matadore, fistpump, clay, grass, hardcourt, federer, best and class.

  • @DrCarmac d, Fred, Federer, Roger, Rog. Rogah! Swiss Maestro, TMF, The Swiss Express. Maestro, Frederer Ferrererererrrr, Rolex, A Crown For Every Achievement, Nike, Mirka, The Twins, Gavin Rossdale, Murse, Purse, Great, Greatest, G.O.A.T, Rafa, Nadal, Rafael, vamos, El matadore, fistpump, clay, grass, hardcourt, federer, best and class.

  • look at it. Federer just plays to soft. He doesn't put as much pressure into his shots as he did in the london finals 2010 against Nadal.

  • @DrCarmac "That will you never post on Youtube again. Never.

    " .... Why not?

ps. I don't plan to have any children... ;)

  • @federerbestcIass I will make you feel such embarrasment. Such utter shame. Such fear. Such insecurity. That will you never post on Youtube again. Never.

I'll find the greatest insecurity you have about yourself and shine a bright light on it, so that every person on Youtube can see.

Now plow my fields for all eternity.

This is just the beginning slave. This is just the beginning. Your children will be my slaves. And your children's children. And their children.

Now get back to work doooooog

  • @DrCarmac When I've completed dealing with you, you won't be having any fields left to plow, fool! The Chinese horde will devastate your city.

  • The Slams go like this; for those of you who didn't know:

2011 - If Nadal wins the Aus Open, that's 4 Slams in a row. The Rafa Slam.

After Aus.......The French. Barring Injury, Nadal is 99.99% certain to win that. He could probably still win it injured, tbh.

Wimbledon? Hmmmm........Rafa more likely to win it than Fred. No other good grass-court players in this era.

    Then ofc, the Us Open.

So think on this Fed Fans, it is conceivable that Nadal could win SIX Slams in a row.

    Possible? IDK.

  • @DrCarmac Or it's possible he gets wiped out by some crazy ass hard hitter who happens to be on fire.

Del Potro ring a bell? He's back next year and he's putting a stop to this Nadal madness. Watch as he restores some order.

  • @Ignozi The problem with that argument is, Nadal hit a forehand at 110mph on a hardcourt in Indian Wells this year.

That's 10 mph faster than the fastest forehand Del Potro hit against Fred in the USO 09 Final. Also, since Nadal changed the grip on his serve, he can serve at a speed comparable to Del Potro.

Nadal hit a 101mph forehand today against Fred in London, for his first winner of the match.

Bring on Del Potro son. That's the #1 ranked player in the world vs the 251st(?)

    ranked.

    Money!

  • @DrCarmac Oh, his ranking will rise when he gets some wins.

It's gonna take a some tournaments to get him back into shape. If Nadal can consistently pound his forehand, which he won't, lol, then good for him.

My money's on the giant big hitter who slaps those forehands consistently, not like twice a match. lol!

  • @DrCarmac Well said. TOo bad Nadal had that marathon semi vs Murray. If not, I think he would have straight-setted Federer. Regardless, that's tennis, Fed won and made his record vs Nadal (8-14) a little more respectable. Also, Fed played very well. As a Nadal fan, I would have just liked to see one day of rest put between semi and final (that almost certainly would have made this match more intriguing). Meh, I guess Rafa can't win them all. If Rafa wins the Aussie, all 4 majores at once!

  • @Ignozi Friend, Del Potro faced a Nadal that is not the same as Nadal now, as proven by his victory at the US Open. To me, Berdych is a similar type of player to Del Potro, although Berdych moves better. Rafa has had no trouble with Berdych over their last few encounters. Rafa is the best because of just that, he's the best. Bring on anyone! I just hope he gets through some matches easier so he's rested. If this is the case, I put my money on him in any match he plays, plain and simple!

  • @mousavsm OK, this is pure speculation. Everything is until their next meeting. Then we can see some results.

I disagree about one thing though. Del Potro is nothing like Berdych. Where do I start? Delpo's mentality is rock solid. Remember when he DFs twice to gift Fed the 3rd set at the USO last year? Came back to win in 5. Not to mention falling behind 5-2 in the 1st set breaker in Montreal to Nadal. Storms back to win the set. Movement you say? Look at him against Fed at the FO last year.

  • @DrCarmac It's a lot to ask but it's true. I hope Rafa tailors his game toward the slams more now, as that's the last frontier for him. Last year he showed a bit of it by reducing his schedule and not defending titles, etc. I'd like to see more of that, but I'd also like to see him play enough to keep in good form and for us to watch him! It's a fine line, but I think Rafa will figure it out just fine! Can't wait till the Aussie Open!!!!!! I want to see the Rafa slam so badly!!!

  • @mousavsm Hello friend.

I'm strongly considering going to The Aussie Open at the end of January to see Rafa play live. I know he'll win.

I know it in my heart.

  • @DrCarmac You're very lucky to have that option! I live all the way in Canada so I don't think it's possible for me....Next Canadian Open, I'm going, enough's enough! I never saw Agassi play live and regret it immensely, I cannot do the same with Rafa too!! Enjoy the Aussie Open. I'm hoping that he achieves the Rafa Slam bigtime!

  • rubix0110 you very right

  • the point at 5:52 its really amazing

  • Poor Federer >< But they both still doing a perfect job!!!

  • Have to thank nadal though,if it wasnt for him, federer would probably be worst since he do not have any worthy opponents to improve his game

  • Aw federer is SO unlucky, 4-2 in the first set! if he held his serve,he would have won the match.this year too,at the us open,he had TWO match points against djoker but he wasted it and got beat.He always has mental lapses. He needs to be confident, when he has the lead,he has to up his game, not stay at the pace where he got his lead.Since nadal will obviously up his game to come back from 4 sets down

  • Good game. Love Rafa

  • @federerbestcIass First time seeing you give a gracious comment.I like Federer too. Both of the players are great. We are fortunate to have 2 all time greats playing at the same time.We should cherish the moment rather than having silly accusations.

  • I could beat both of these fags

  • @DanimalLawlz i will Tie nadal and federer hands and legs and I'll cover there eyes and you still lose comfortable.

  • nadal is an animal, federer is all class

  • This was the perfect tennis match. The only thing that would have made it more perfect is if Federer had won.

  • Almost brings tears to my eyes. No other matchup has such quality than Federer vs Nadal, hope they meet at least once in 2011.

  • nadal: best running backhand ever? look at 1:19

  • a complete classic

  • Its probably just me, but I think this one was better than the Wimbledon final, maybe not on the emotional level, but the quality of play.... just amazing. (saw both finals live)

  • But man, you could see from the very beginning of this tournament, something was different about Nadal. After the embarrising loss against Tsonga in the 2008 AO, Nadal had a purpose in this tournament. I watched all of his matches...he was playing like a demon possessed, chasing every ball down like it was life or death.....and he played MUCH more offensive and attacking. I knew after the first round, this man came to win.....and not even Federer could deny him.

  • You have to think in the context of when this match was played....Nadal was not supposed to WIN on hard courts. Clay was his only home remember? And everyone said he would never be an all court player. Then when he beat Federer in 2008 Wimbeldon, many people said it was a fluke. Federer was a huge favourite to win this match, especially after he had much more rest than Nadal, and Nadal had to play a 5 hour match against Vedasko.

  • @FaithIsAnnoyed Nadal game matches so well to roger that it doesn't matter how he is playing he will always have a chance but also mentally roger federer is one of the few players nadal can really say is actually scared or wary of him,he just seems to never be comfortable whenever nadal is on the other side of the court.

Nadal relishes playing roger whereas roger would rather not play him because game wise but also rafa is just too much for roger psyche i think.

  • I love their particular match-up - they're both so good at what they do best, and yet what they do best is so different, because their styles of play are so different; almost polar opposites, in fact. But it means that they always deliver fantastic points and impossible shots that provide guaranteed entertainment for any tennis fan.

  • I really like how they play ....

  • man i wish fed coulda won this, but i love nadal too. i feel like if things went differently, rearanged some points. fed woulda had this one

  • @millionairejh yeah man that was a pitty that he didn't win that one. But he's gonna beat nadal next year an he's gonna win that title again:-) about that I'm sure

  • Can people stop arguing about who's better please? They're both absolutely amazing players, and if you asked them who was better they would both answer, "he is". So show respect to both players; the same that they show each other.

  • @rubix0110 I think both are gracious but has Federer actually said that Nadal is the better player? I don't think Fed would ever call another player better, but then again he has that right I suppose...

  • @rubix0110 I agree it's not worth arguing about, but you're crazy if you think Federer would not call himself the better player. He has waaay more slams.

  • @bjdm3089 Well it's a valid point, but Federer is older than Rafa and with Rafa's recent Grand Slam win rate he's set to break Federer's record by the time he's Federer's age.

  • @rubix0110 It's hard for me to believe that Nadal can keep up the same level of play for another 3-5 years. The way he plays is very hard on the body. The reason why Federer is so good is because he plays in an effortless way that is very easy on the body, making him capable to play at a high level for a long period of time. In order for Nadal to break Federer's 16 majors, he needs to stop overworking himself by attending less small tournments and basically stop chasing after every ball.

  • @vembix I agree with you about the every ball comment. He has to take that out of him but I guess it's something he's been used to doing. He simply doesn't have to do it anymore. As for the smaller tourney comment, last year he did that actually so I expect to see it in the future. If you paid attention, Federer played more small tournaments than Rafa did this year...

  • Comment removed

  • @bjdm3089 Slams are the summit, but he has more due to age than talent. I mean, they are both great, let's get this straight. But, go look at all the other achievements in their careers, Nadal is better than Federer in basically every category other than slams, which again, are more a matter of age than talent. I think when both their careers are done, this answer will become more clear.

  • @rubix0110 lol I doubt Federer would get off his high horse and say that, especially at the time of the match

  • @rubix0110 Federer would never say that Nadal is better than he is...

  • @sharpasaneraser Agreed. Nadal has single handedly prevented Federer from making a mockery of the ATP tour the last 4-5 years. He just did what guys like Safin, Nalbandian, Haas, etc. should have done! Good on both guys, it's a real treat to watch their matches!

  • @davd1986 well said...both these guys are the epitome of what a champion is all about. their rivalry and dominance is legend.

  • these 2 are probably the best players well see face each other

  • Porque nadal esta siempre en contra del control anti doping? mmm es raro que juegue tantos partidos a 3 sets o mas y nunka se cansa, me recuerda a maradona en el futbol

  • who won again?!?! i forgot

  • Rafael Nadal winning the Australia Open 2009 after having played a super-match against Verdasco in the Semi Final. Rafael said that he felt tired during this match. Rafael was more than human on this match. ;)))

  • Isso é fora de série: jogo entre os dois é difícil de ouvir os auxiliares gritando "out"

  • LOCAlwarzone...grow up kid...you are just 20...and not objective...but its normal...love makes blind!!Nadal has 9 GS...for your information...but keep talking shit...in a few years you gonna admit how great nadal is/was...he already is part of the history of tennis "without talent" like you litlle fanatic mind think...its just STUPID to say something like that after all this years of federer and nadal rivalry...

BOTH great players..the best of the history for sure....

  • You want to talk about talent, look at that shot at 1:04. That's a combination of anticipation, footwork, speed, court coverage, and racquet control, all in one, for a clean winner.

  • Comment removed

  • @localwarzone Lol, last you checked Nadal had 7 eh? Lol, who's misinformed, huh?? Nadal has 9 now, 3 in a row, and a career grand slam, 3 years earlier than Federer (cough, cough). I will displace your comment onto you, MAYBE YOU SHOULD STOP COMMENTING ABOUT A SPORT YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT!!! Man, talk about someone looking like a fool!

  • @localwarzone Nadal has no talent, eh?? LMAO. Man, you should never comment on tennis again, as you are clearly a novice. "Just focus and energy and some equipment."....LOL. Further proving that you should NEVER comment on a sport you haven't a clue about. Rafa>>Roger, and you are as dumb as it gets when it comes to knowing anything about this sport.

  • Comment removed

  • @localwarzone You are a total fool. You probably don't even know what talent means, go look it up somewhere. Oh, and don't bother coming back to this conversation, you are total fool and me responding to you is already lowering my iq more than dementia and rapid aging would ever do. You, not only fool, total fool.

  • @mousavsm i was only kidding.....lol i know rafa has just as much talent and skill maybe even more than fed. I will say this though, I didnt know that he was going to be dominant on all three surfaces like he is today i think alot of people thought that he would only be known as the "king of clay" nut he has proven that he is a true all court player.

  • @localwarzone True, then I don't know why you'd say all that. As for his success on all surfaces, I didn't see this type of dominance either, but I knew he could go down as one of the best ever. I just didn't see it coming this fast after his injuries of last year, but after he got back in the claycourt season, I could see him winning the French and Wimbledon. When he actually did win both of those, I was telling everyone that he was going to win the US Open, I could sense it.

  • @localwarzone And I think the same thing now about the Aussie Open. I suspect he'll gear himself up for it correctly, well rested, yet enough to get his juices flowing and his game in shape to take a serious run at the title. If he wins this slam, with the French following, I wonder what the pundits will be saying...We shall see what the future holds my friend :). I think Roger is ready for a serious run too, but so is Djokovic, could be an epic tournament!
