the triple x rating is not the old x-rated standard at all. mainstream Hollywood movies in the late 60s and 70s had x ratings. the x rating eventually became only associated with hardcore porno films once the violence and sex that once made movies X rated now only made them R rated, and the X rating wasn't trademarked so the porno industry could use it for their films. they added the XXX as a kind of marketing ploy later.

@MrDavidtron7 Unfortunately for minors only adults have full constitutional rights. Kids only get to have what their parents let them. The law says if your 18 you can be drafted, vote, smoke, and buy porn Turn 21 and you can buy and consume alcohol. Minors don't have those rights, freedom is for adults because they are full citizens with constitutional protection. Children/minor rights are mostly about safety, education, and health.

The most absurd thing about sex in video games is the implied notion that violence is okay, even gore, torture and literally anything -- but a sex scene, even if it is just half of an 'alien boob'? The latter causes panic and outrage of all sorts.

I don't see why sex is worse than violence, and we're not talking rape games, but just sexuality. Kids shouldn't get a wrong view on sex? Maybe not but why is violence okay given the same set of premises? It is absurd.

I would agree, it seems that the people in power think you have to be juvenille to play video games, when many films that are considered artistic masterpieces contain sex scenes of one form or another, be it shown or implied. Plus I can't help but think that a consensual act of mutual pleasure should not be more censored than violence level where peoples heads are exploding, one in the real world is good, and its not the exploding heads, so why does it have a harder time getting into games?

Indigo Prophecy( Fahrenheit ) was a great game i had it for the ps2 but for the pc, it was rated A, because it played out as a movie, like its Xbox, ps2, Xbox 360 counterpart, but the the console version that took out all the nudity in the game was weird to see them taking showers in their underwear lol, but i loved the game, and i wanted to know what you thought of it, and also what do the think about their new game heavy rain?

I've never played Indigo Prophecy. I've heard mixed things about it. I'll have to look into it more with Heavy Rain on the horizon. Heavy Rain looks interesting but if it's really just a choose your own adventure movie with QTE I'll be skeptical about it until the reviews come out.

its a good game give it a try, i would say go for the pc version then the console because of the different ending on the pc. i read the back of the game and thats what got me, it was amazing, plus the box art caught my eye.

The only tastefully sex scenes in Videogames have been either the one in Mass Effect, the bath scene in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time or many of those love moments in Japanese Dating sims that sadly have a bad reputation for being too much for the Western Market to handle even though they are just only pictures of Anime girls who you consensually fall in love with.

Like saying that, the Japanese make more tasteful sex in their games than the western games.

Well the rating is still around, but I don't think any movies come out in theaters with it. They usualy get released as R and then get an uncut "Un-Rated" version on DVD. Those would probably be NC-17 if they were rated.

My only gripe when talking about sex in videogames is when its used as a crutch for sales purposes. "Love scenes" are fine but it should never be the sole reason for buying a game, nor should it excused a half-assed product simply because there's a side-boob in it. I am also a guy, and I have to say I don't particularly care for the way most women heroines are portrayed in video games. But thats just my humble opinion.

I agree, I've been playing games sence 1985 and have always injoyed myself. But realy I have moved beyond this, female in 1/10 the coverings that a male wears. Fantasy games are a good example, the male wears full body armor, a female wears what amounts to a metal bra and pants and we are to beleave that it has as much protection as the guys stuff. I don't want sex for sex sake or nudity thrown in just for titillation. Even though I made a joke at the end I do think sex would be appropriate, if done respectfully, in some games. It could be the PG-13 kind with no real nudity so long as it's purpose is to convey two character's feelings. Even if it just shows them go to bed and fades away.

Well, glad to have an idea of what the missing vid was, although it's a shame it was so short, since it could easily go on for a while. Don't forget the censorship of Indigo Prophecy, for instance. The European version, Fahrenheit, had "adult" footage that apparently the ESRB just thought was too much, although the content in many R rated films is far more extensive and adult.
