EU countries are not just together for economic reason, it much more than that. It is an idea, a vision leading us towards Type 1 Civilization. I remember Poland tried to dominate Ukraine and persecution of the cossacks was fierce and brutal,ukranians were also dissed as barbarians by the polish nobility,Poland as everyone that was once strong,wasn´t without its arrogances and faults.

Thats untrue since eastern Europe adhesion to the EU its GDP didn´t stop growing,even despite the crisis,while western Europe GDP is stagnant,in some decades,some say 5 others say 10,but it will happen,eastern Europe will become the predominant force in all of Europe,with a combined force matching the USA,and only EU can make such thing happen in such a "short" amount of time.

@janak19771977 the EU prevents wars through economic co-depencency as well as collective security. it is an evolution of previous incarnations starting with the coal and steel community between western germany and france. the way it is set up means it can only effectivly prevent wars between its memberstates and at the time the balklands were not members. the proof its kept the peace is that there hasnt beena single war between member states in over 60 years.
