maybe that aboriginal cultures do not differentiate between dreaming and wakefulness, but they think of them as one and equally relevant. So, from their perspective, they may say 'we don't dream'.
@AaronBaker12345 You have to remember that planet earth is not the only living thing in the universe.. Every single thing you can imagine must exist. No matter what. Whatever your dream was about it could have been a flashback from a previoues life a feeling anything. You have to keep an open mind to understand.
I do not believe that this guy is awakened. Aboriginees like everyone else dreams. Aboutanimals you cannot tell, but scientists have studied their eye movements when asleep and suggested that they probably dream. Secondly, there are many kinds of dreams:1)some caused by suppresed emotions 2) some are past life remembrance 3)propheti, and the list goes on. Secondly, fully awakened people also dream. He thinks that awakened people do not drea,m, that is why he talks like this.
Waking is long and a dream short; other than this there is no difference. Just as waking happenings seem real while awake. so do those in a dream while dreaming. In dream the mind takes on another body. In both waking and dream states thoughts. names and forms occur simultaneously.

I think they took the image of Jaafar character in Aladdin animation from Osho. Anyway, the guy is unique and very articulate. You can hear from him the next word or meaning before he utters them. Hypnotically scary
Osho claims he is living as he wants to live etc etc that makes him an original vs US... Well I wonder how come he wanted to answer all questions on those videos??? Did he simply wanted to answer all recorded questions or he had to? I wanted to watch a man who does tell the truth, not this man looks like Osho I guess...
Has Osho ever heard of Aboriginal Dreamtime? Primitive people value their dreams. Dogs often show clear evidence of R.E.M. when they sleep and body twitching.
Usually I am impressed by what Osho says. In this instance, he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.
Seriously, What makes another Man right, it is just someone elses opinion. The truth is no one knows, they would just like to think they do.
If you feel the need to seek, then you have not found your true self and will remain lost until you wake up, and feel completely foolish having wasted your life.
I hear some truth in this but if OSHO was around I would challenge him to a peaceful debate about this. I say OSHO missed out! ha. And I think animals do dream by the way.....
@Zeldenhiem Ya some of them even have nightmares! Thats sad.. Most animals in the wild which have not been abused wont dream.. They just see and observe intensely.
I have a question: then what about the violent dreams or dreams that you want to harm you or chasing you or you fall off a cliff? that also has to do with repressed desires?? and how you relate? I have this question jejeje
@Conyveg Those are consequences of repressed events. Any events of shock-full stress and fear occurred during the day, if not mentally passed over it, will eventually take place during the night, forming a nightmare. What osho is trying to... say is, in essence, that ANY KIND of dream is due to a repressed-lived life.
@Conyveg One way to think of dreams is like they are messages with meanings and events that you can relate back to what has happened in your life, or what you wanted to happen, not necessarily desires, but fears as well, and really anything else you can think of.
Well this is my observation. I respect and I am thankful to Osho. His insights and the way he breaks the rigidity. But why is he so contradictory! He says this all things are contemporariness. But how is this going to help.
other animals dream, besides us. but..perhaps, he's trying to say even dogs/cats (who can actually dream)..ALSO have repressed feelings/emotions. i doubt it, but the mind has barely been tapped of all its resources/abilities. (shrugs)
@renzokata Agree, he's wrong here. I often have dreams foretelling the future for example. I wonder what repressed part of my personality is responsible for this...
La racionalidad es necesaria para la convivencia, porque lo que quieras hacer se podrá siempre y cuando el otro esté de acuerdo y eso es ser racional.
How in the hell could anyone know whether Osho ever dreamed or not? His words cannot be believed for he was always playing one trick or the other to get his message acrosss.
Mixing mental and physical needs with the basic physical dreams is not a right way to manipulate with people and demonstrate your mental/intellectual power. Example: Babies are dreaming the pure love that they are receiving from their parents. It is not that they are wishing it, they have it and purely enjoy it. I never dream (maybe once per 2 years) but it is not because I have no expectations and wishes.
I can see dreams being a hidden desire or a want. My question is how come I dont really have any controll in a dream. For me its more like watching a movie then actually taking part. My best explanation is like going to the best car dealer and getting the keys to the best car on the lot but never get to drive the car. Any help?
I think a lot of people are missing his point, so I decided to comment. Obviously, this is my interpretation, but he is not speaking of actual dreams - as in unconscious sleeping dreams... He is speaking of "dreams" as in some kind of "want" or a "need for gain/progress of the self". When he says animals don't dream, or aboriginal people they do not want and therefore they do not need, and therefore they do not "dream". I hope what I said might help people understand what Osho truly means.
Yup.. you are right, plus it is also proven that we ALL have dreams evrytime we sleep, but depending on what stage of sleep we wake up we remember or not what we were dreaming.
@deushof That is true, but there is a difference between manifest dreaming and latent dreaming, the former being just meaningless thoughts and images.
were u a dog, horse or a sheep in ur previous birth? scientest say lot of things. and few days after theyve said, they will go against it. can u tell me what electricity is? science have theories, readings etc. and we ofcourse are using it for our benifit. science have no clue till date what electricity is. srry ive gone lil off track, but i dont entirely agree with science i go with experience and answers that come from within
If one says hes perfect then one will dream that hes perfect and if one doesnt say nothing then he will dream nothing. and if one accepts dreams as one self theres nothing to dream.
i have met people who don't dream, and i know my dog sometimes makes sounds in his sleep or moves his legs also during sleep.anyway what Osho says still makes sense, people desire, but perhaps dogs(which live with people in a culture)also caught a cat he watches during the day thru the fence..
what r u saying ...u dont dream?????and what about animals? they dream ...coz they have also a brain that imagines things for them also there may b many things unfullfilled for them...so why wont they dream.......when there is desire for something u certainly dream...100%
actually, he is talking about during sleep. 2:23 what he's saying is, you're sleep dreams can interperet you're life path. every detail of a dream, is a detail of (what he is saying to be) imperfections in you're life. so basically he thinks he's perfect so he can't dream .
you are absolutely right oshoji about dreams...they are nothing but unfulfilled desires...an outlet of unfulfilled desires trying to act out as actions...
I think animals live in forest which used to be their natural habitat where they could run and jump like they are made to. Since the time your dog became YOUR, it would certainly want to run and jump more than it does now and that is the unlived part of his life and so he dreams
Yes humans are animals and osho said that same thing and it holds for all living beings: if they supress their desires for some reason, they will dream.
I did not understand Osho's statement (at 1:15) - "Animals don't dream". Human beings are animals, but we dream - thats ok. But which animal other than human being told Osho that they dont dream?
thts true .. after so many wars, misery, global warming, environmental destruction, ozone depletion and other kinds of insanity seen in human lives .. For sure humans are not animals , besides u r the one keeping animal as ur pet.
i don't understand how his cleverness interferes with innocence? he is very honest about who he is... and he didn't repress anything in himself... who is to say that he 'should have' done something... he was doing whatever he felt he needed to be doing.. (maybe buying rolls royces was part of it?) and he did it to the fullest, taking risks, being sued, arrested, and universally hated... i can have nothing but admiration for the way he lived... not worrying who'll say what about what i do...
Osho was inclined to buy those Rolls Royces to prove a point that we can be spiritual and abundant at the same time. Money is a symbol of energy, not something to be shunned by spiritualists. Besides, Buddha did not help the poor, so "should" he have done so? Buddha and Osho are teaching us how to fish, not giving us the fish.
I know you are not poor . People make poor them self. like me i travelled half of the world and still my parent say to me you dont have money. If we come close to nature and we will be one comunty there will be no poor. Example if u devide all money indian people have in india, every one be Milionare. Same insted of investing money making vepons and going to moon devide to every one every one be billionare but wn u find ur self u dont need money. u become so rich that all world look like BEGGERS
i don't understand how cleverness interferes with innocence? he is very honest about who he is... and he didn't repress anything in himself... who is to say that he 'should have' done something... he was doing whatever he felt he needed to be doing.. (maybe buying rolls royces was part of it?) and he did it to the fullest, taking risks, being sued, arrested, and universally hated... i can have nothing but admiration for the way he lived... not worrying who'll say what about me...
osho is brilliant - but as an indian myself i know the con.. however he is a spiritually enlightening and brilliant teacher... he is far from innnocent - he should have fed the poor instead of buying those rolls royces.. but im not judging just believe in taking the good and leaving the negative - he shows me none of us our perfect .. he did make a lot of money and his eyes are not innocent as he claims to be either - he is very clever but the good he has taught far overrides anything else
exactly..he was a mere human being. he wasn't perfect, but his well refined thoughts and insights were and still are very profoundly positive. what he spoke about was authentic and full of fundamental truth. he believed in being selfish. the way i see it is that his finanical success kept him comfortable and at ease to transcend his consciousness. that allowed him to spread his messages. have to take care of yourselves before u can take care of others.
I've been listening to a lot of Osho videos, but I have to disagree with this one on dreams. I think dreaming plays a bigger role than day residue or unlived desires.
For example, in another video he makes a point that when we dream we're not awake. If you're not awake you're not conscious. Now have you ever noticed that dreams happen in story format? So who's writing the story?
i think the thoughts floating around in our heads are in story format already because that's how we live our lives. so when they emerge in our dreams of course they maintain some of that format. though my dreams almost never have any consistent format to them.
i hear what you are saying but i believe he is talking about dreaming for things we havent got and think we want / wishful dreaming - not lucid dreaming which is another dimension.... "believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see - life is a dream when you die you wake up!"
if he does nt dream, how he knows what a dreamis??? then may maybe hes talkin about something else and phrasing it as dream. secondly hes givin the example of animals. now how you can proove that animals dream or not. its as insane like whether there is a god or not. Its funniest thing i ever heard from osho
Theres scientific proof that dogs, among other animals dream. Through analyising brain waves, god. dumb shit.
And osho was like everyone else before he got enlightened, ofcourse he had dreams. And hes not talking about the dreams you have when you're asleep anyway, hes talking about dreams as in, GOALS.. what you want
if you think he is talking about goals, you are dreaming Goals may be dreams but dreams are not goals. It is when we strike to mKe our goals a reality that we can say "dream come true"
...i love, respect osho very much!!!butt one thing bothers me in this video...my cat when she sleeps, she makes funny gestures with her paws like she's running..or playing with a mice or anything...please anybody explain it to me why does this happen if animals don't dream...if not i will hang the f*****g cat i wanna belive everthing osho say's because its beatiful..and if he say's animals don't dream ,my cat will dream no more
I know for me when I sleep -- so times when I am aware I am not dreaming my body releases tension and other nervous firing so my body might move or my face - this is not a dream. This might be what we see in animals b/c it will only happen in a very relaxed state.
Just an idea: perhaps its domesticated animals that dream, and the wild (primal) animals that do not dream? I think my domesticated cat, twitching its paws as it lies asleep on the armchair, is dreaming about being wild.
Osho is alive in his disciples and the people that loved him dearly, go to one of his schools or try to meet an Osho circle..., his Ashram in India is like a dream-world come true and his centers with his works are everywhere, he wrote over 500 books, the man was a genius 100 years before his time if the world continues to evolve, Peace to all, and a little advertisement (Love your pets, leave all their body parts alone :)
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Animals have complex dreams and are able to retain and recall long sequences of events while they are asleep, Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers report for the first time in the Jan. 25 issue of the journal Neuron.
Osho doesn't make any unnecessary or unconscious movements. He can sit for his 2 hour discourse without fidgeting, moving his legs.. His hand gestures are Mudras - deliberate - meaningful. His Mind is silent even when he speaks. Actually, "HE" is not speaking - words come through him... amazing.....
i have to say i kind of disagree that dreams are simply a manifestation of our unfulfilled desires and nothing more- however I find what he says about living in an unrepressed and natural way extremely profound
and he said many times: "you will hear a lot of contradictions in what I am saying... but this is your homework! "analise it from different points of view, because one things can apply 2 something, one can apply 2 other, & his job was not 2 make the homework 4 you... his job was to make your homework INTERESTING, 4 you to do it! ;)
this is just my interpretation, but i think what he means is not that he does not experience REM sleep and the hallucinations that go along with that, but that he never ever mistakes such experiences for reality.
such a state would be so far different from what we normally experience in dreams that it would not be unfair to say that he does not dream at all...
Who is this man. How can I meet him. Does he live in USA. My dog dreams. My neighbours dream and they are very primitive, they leave rubbish everywhere.
he is dead but dogs dreams because u train them.. u suppress them... primitive dream because they are still human and are very affected by the external world
@Sinekyre14 I think animals do dream but maybe only domesticated animals as they are in a controlled environment. He may be speaking of animals that are in their natural environment. They would then be free to live according to their nature & satisfy all their animal urges. Who knows...

Did he simply wanted to answer all recorded questions or he had to? I wanted to watch a man who does tell the truth, not this man looks like Osho I guess...
istiklalcaddesi 9 months ago
Has Osho ever heard of Aboriginal Dreamtime? Primitive people value their dreams. Dogs often show clear evidence of R.E.M. when they sleep and body twitching.
Usually I am impressed by what Osho says. In this instance, he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.

Seriously, What makes another Man right, it is just someone elses opinion. The truth is no one knows, they would just like to think they do.
If you feel the need to seek, then you have not found your true self and will remain lost until you wake up, and feel completely foolish having wasted your life.
Well each to their own I guess

Dreaming is part of our mental/brain activities and got nothing to do with
repression...rather more with letting our IMAGINATION go which is

I have a question: then what about the violent dreams or dreams that you want to harm you or chasing you or you fall off a cliff? that also has to do with repressed desires?? and how you relate? I have this question jejeje
Conyveg 1 year ago
@Conyveg Those are consequences of repressed events. Any events of shock-full stress and fear occurred during the day, if not mentally passed over it, will eventually take place during the night, forming a nightmare. What osho is trying to... say is, in essence, that ANY KIND of dream is due to a repressed-lived life.
TheSp00kyGamer 1 year ago
@Conyveg One way to think of dreams is like they are messages with meanings and events that you can relate back to what has happened in your life, or what you wanted to happen, not necessarily desires, but fears as well, and really anything else you can think of.

amitnewyork 1 year ago
Mixing mental and physical needs with the basic physical dreams is not a right way to manipulate with people and demonstrate your mental/intellectual power. Example: Babies are dreaming the pure love that they are receiving from their parents. It is not that they are wishing it, they have it and purely enjoy it. I never dream (maybe once per 2 years) but it is not because I have no expectations and wishes.

I can see dreams being a hidden desire or a want. My question is how come I dont really have any controll in a dream. For me its more like watching a movie then actually taking part. watch your dream and you see what he means
mayaspiritb 1 year ago
I think a lot of people are missing his point, so I decided to comment. Obviously, this is my interpretation, but he is not speaking of actual dreams - as in unconscious sleeping dreams... He is speaking of "dreams" as in some kind of "want" or a "need for gain/progress of the self". When he says animals don't dream, or aboriginal people they do not want and therefore they do not need, and therefore they do not "dream". I hope what I said might help people understand what Osho truly means.

actually, he is talking about during sleep. 2:23 what he's saying is, you're sleep dreams can interperet you're life path. every detail of a dream, is a detail of (what he is saying to be) imperfections in you're life. so basically he thinks he's perfect so he can't dream .

you are absolutely right oshoji about dreams...they are nothing but unfulfilled desires...an outlet of unfulfilled desires trying to act out as actions...
ullasrajchellappan1 2 years ago
I think animals live in forest which used to be their natural habitat where they could run and jump like they are made to. Since the time your dog became YOUR, it would certainly want to run and jump more than it does now and that is the unlived part of his life and so he dreams
Yes humans are animals and osho said that same thing and it holds for all living beings: if they supress their desires for some reason, they will dream.
Peace.

I did not understand Osho's statement (at 1:15) - "Animals don't dream". Human beings are animals, but we dream - thats ok. But which animal other than human being told Osho that they dont dream?

i don't understand how his cleverness interferes with innocence? he is very honest about who he is... and he didn't repress anything in himself... who is to say that he 'should have' done something... he was doing whatever he felt he needed to be doing.. (maybe buying rolls royces was part of it?) and he did it to the fullest, taking risks, being sued, arrested, and universally hated... i can have nothing but admiration for the way he lived... not worrying who'll say what about what i do...
nervidex626 2 years ago
Well said!!
Peace and light!

osho is brilliant - but as an indian myself i know the con.. however he is a spiritually enlightening and brilliant teacher... he is far from innnocent - he should have fed the poor instead of buying those rolls royces.. but im not judging just believe in taking the good and leaving the negative - he shows me none of us our perfect .. he did make a lot of money and his eyes are not innocent as he claims to be either - he is very clever but the good he has taught far overrides anything else

exactly..he was a mere human being. he wasn't perfect, but his well refined thoughts and insights were and still are very profoundly positive. what he spoke about was authentic and full of fundamental truth. he believed in being selfish. the way i see it is that his finanical success kept him comfortable and at ease to transcend his consciousness. that allowed him to spread his messages. have to take care of yourselves before u can take care of others.

MrLove4ALL 2 years ago
I've been listening to a lot of Osho videos, but I have to disagree with this one on dreams. I think dreaming plays a bigger role than day residue or unlived desires.
For example, in another video he makes a point that when we dream we're not awake. If you're not awake you're not conscious. Now have you ever noticed that dreams happen in story format? So who's writing the story?
HigherPlanes 2 years ago
actually your asking the right question imho. whos the dreamer when your asleep. the mind? just maybe ;)
schwachfugging 2 years ago
i think the thoughts floating around in our heads are in story format already because that's how we live our lives. so when they emerge in our dreams of course they maintain some of that format. though my dreams almost never have any consistent format to them.

i hear what you are saying but i believe he is talking about dreaming for things we havent got and think we want / wishful dreaming - not lucid dreaming which is another dimension.... "believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see - life is a dream when you die you wake up!"

I know for me when I sleep -- so times when I am aware I am not dreaming my body releases tension and other nervous firing so my body might move or my face - this is not a dream. This might be what we see in animals b/c it will only happen in a very relaxed state.

this is just my interpretation, but i think what he means is not that he does not experience REM sleep and the hallucinations that go along with that, but that he never ever mistakes such experiences for reality.
