Quincy as producer a giant who really never wanted to stay in one only format and has made a brilliant career believing in the route that music took during 60s and 70s and 80s.I never question the hip-hop, but it seems that taking instruments to learn how to play or to study music as self-taugh or in schools has made a long trip. Please, let's rescue that!!
If you know anything about Quincy Jones' music, you can hear his influence all through this song. I thought the Brothers Johnson were ALL THAT back in the day when I was a teen!
This always seemed as if it should have been the theme tune to some really cool 70's cop show, i always picture some kind of John Shaft type of character strutting around the 'hood as the credits role with this tune kicking in the background.
Funny, two french artists sampled Brothers Johnson. Le Knight Club used this song for "Soul Bells" and Justice used "You Make Me Wanna Wiggle" for "Newjack".
Grooving OUT to this tune, but not so much for the awkward way he's holding that hot pink light, but I'll live, averting my eyes, but pressing on nonetheless
Grooving OUT to this tune, but not so much for the awkward placement of the hot pink light in the image at 0:16, but I'll live, averting my eyes, but pressing on nonetheless
@TheRealMaaqee What are you talking about? What ignorance? There is no group called Illuminati controlling us. We are just being manipulated by the school systems, capitalism, religions, and government. It's much more than some defunct secret society. Far too many people who believe in Illuminati also think Tupac isn't dead. Get real.
Also, speak not of ignorance should you not possess the ability to use proper spelling or grammar.
@TheRealMaaqee Hahahaha, maybe you should refrain from calling people tools if you are gonna add "bro." It makes your statement ironic and puts the joke back on you.
OMG!!!! My Sister bought this tune up and didn't know the name of it...Here it is on You Tube...This was the ultimate groove...Brothers Johnson was the -ish. The base starts and puts you in the groove zone!! Thanks for the posting!!
the bass line of this song has been popping into my head on and off for years. knew it was Brother's Johnson. now today, thanks to Google, Youtube and this Post, now i know it's Streetwave from the Blam LP, will be adding this to the collection. Thanks for the post!!
OL SKOOL AT IT'S BEST. Just let that mellow cool vibe groove you, and that thuderous bass, makes you feel like an earthquake has hit your body. Now, just close your eyes and put it all together, you have now entered the "OL SKOOL ZONE".
I could listen to this till the day I die, maybe longer!!! Brings back sweet memories of hot saturday nights cruising Woodward Ave in dad's candy red '70 Thunderbird. GREAT music and GREAT car!!!
@rockcitymusic . Hi Bro'. Have you tried installing "Real Player"? For a one-off payment, you can download, and convert Music, Videos...etc to any format, including MP3. Hope the info was spot on!!!!
I had the cassette tape of "Blam" back in the day. The cassette had much superior track listing than the LP. The cassette (like the LP) started off with "Ain't we Funkin Now". But then unlike the LP, the cassette followed it up with "Streetwave" and then "Blam". Flip the cassette over (I don't know if I had a two-way deck back then) "Ride O Rocket" started the flip side before mellowing out the rest of the album with the slow jams.
@hankaaron1961 I had every Brothers Johnson album they made back then on 8 TRACK, Yah, that's right, 8 track, and I had a Jensen R-330 indash AM/FM/ 8 track player, which was the BADDEST 8 track player ever made. This Song Kicks Major A--! The Brothers Johnson Seem To Have At Least One Good Instrumental On Their Albums. Louis Johnson Has To Be One Of The Greatest Funk Bassists Of All Time!, To Bad They Don"t Make Instrumentals Like They Use To Back In The Day. Oh Yeah, That's Right! Ahh, the touch of vinyl in my hands! Nice to the touch & soothing to my ears! That is how I felt about this song while playing it on air in an upstate NY FM radio station!
@murdamook504 It's from their 1978 "Blam" album. Of course it's out of print with scalpers asking $80+ for a CD copy. LP's available from Ebay for substantially less.
