  • ho bangin music

  • Swedish House Mafia - miami 2 ibiza ripped this track...

Sad that creativity is gone from music...

  • TOO smooth!

  • original dick in a box @ 00:30 seconds

  • Oh yeah cagedpanther1....road trip track here.

  • Big music!

    Cantalice

  • this is music

  • der vorne sieht aus wie timme als schwadder ;)

  • very nice

  • Drivin' music! Nuff said!

  • Quincy as producer a giant who really never wanted to stay in one only format and has made a brilliant career believing in the route that music took during 60s and 70s and 80s.I never question the hip-hop, but it seems that taking instruments to learn how to play or to study music as self-taugh or in schools has made a long trip. Please, let's rescue that!!

  • Oh Yes!

  • THIS IS MUSIC

  • what 3 feather heads disliked this? Song smokes, grooves, jumps and runs so hot. Great mini moog solo too.

  • If you know anything about Quincy Jones' music, you can hear his influence all through this song. I thought the Brothers Johnson were ALL THAT back in the day when I was a teen!

  • Man, where have all the good cuts gone? This junk that is out today is pathetic! Thanks goodness for Youtube for keeping the old skool hits around!

  • AMAAAAAAAZING!!! AWESOME!!!1 GREAT !!!! sounds like all that

  • AMAAAAAAAAZING!!!

  • baaaaaad tune!

  • Thanks for posting this classic jam

  • This always seemed as if it should have been the theme tune to some really cool 70's cop show, i always picture some kind of John Shaft type of character strutting around the 'hood as the credits role with this tune kicking in the background.

  • you have to take your time with this track ...

  • Funny, two french artists sampled Brothers Johnson. Le Knight Club used this song for "Soul Bells" and Justice used "You Make Me Wanna Wiggle" for "Newjack".

  • @emanueljoab

and now you can add SebastiAn's Arabest for sample Say You Wanna by these guys

  • HMMMMMHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMHHHH

if you know what I mean

  • Lol I was listening to this with my dad, stoned off our faces. Absolutely brilliant music.

  • Is the light lamp a representation for something?

  • @SuperMB010 looks damn phallic...maybe its my imagination!Great song though

  • the sample from the Le Knight Club song Soul Bells!

  • @arram087 i downloaded that song LOVE it

  • Thank you so much!!

  • This my jam!!

  • SMOKIN !!!!!!!!!!!

  • definetly in the top ten bands of all time .

  • Deep pocket of course with Harvey Mason working it with Louis. Sweet harmonies with the brass.

  • Classic them

  • Grooving OUT to this tune, but not so much for the awkward placement of the hot pink light in the image at 0:16, but I'll live, averting my eyes, but pressing on nonetheless

  • @phl2bk That light is the best part!

  • @MrElusive25 People think Americans are stupid, because we are. It has nothing to do with Illuminati.

  • @Apathesis0 no but i has to do with igonorance wich you previous comment had alot of ...

  • @TheRealMaaqee What are you talking about? What ignorance? There is no group called Illuminati controlling us. We are just being manipulated by the school systems, capitalism, religions, and government. It's much more than some defunct secret society. Far too many people who believe in Illuminati also think Tupac isn't dead. Get real.

Also, speak not of ignorance should you not possess the ability to use proper spelling or grammar.

  • @Apathesis0 YOU ARE STILL A FUCKING TOOL BRO ! ahahaha

  • @TheRealMaaqee Hahahaha, maybe you should refrain from calling people tools if you are gonna add "bro." It makes your statement ironic and puts the joke back on you.

Maybe grow up and stop acting like an asshole?

  • @MrElusive25 Illuminati is bullshit, and the majority of people who believe in it and talk about it listen to Jay-Z or Tupac.

  • Genius!!!

  • The correct title for this duo is The Brothers Johnson, it is on the bios, albums etc.

  • OMG!!!! My Sister bought this tune up and didn't know the name of it...Here it is on You Tube...This was the ultimate groove...Brothers Johnson was the -ish. The base starts and puts you in the groove zone!! Thanks for the posting!!

  • the bass line of this song has been popping into my head on and off for years. knew it was Brother's Johnson. now today, thanks to Google, Youtube and this Post, now i know it's Streetwave from the Blam LP, will be adding this to the collection. Thanks for the post!!

  • Definitely one of the greatest funk instrumentals of all time!!!!

  • Forgot about this one...Sweet indeed!

  • Damn! I listen to this son in my 5th hour, and i couldn't stay still. That's the power of funk baby bubba!!

  • I love how he is holding the purple flashlight by his crotch and it's aimed right at his brother's face. Haha.

  • Deeeeeep! A litlle India with a Twist.........! Took me back to right after Elementary School..... It's been fun! Later!

  • OL SKOOL AT IT'S BEST. Just let that mellow cool vibe groove you, and that thuderous bass, makes you feel like an earthquake has hit your body. Now, just close your eyes and put it all together, you have now entered the "OL SKOOL ZONE".

  • I had the cassette tape of "Blam" back in the day. The cassette had much superior track listing than the LP. The cassette (like the LP) started off with "Ain't we Funkin Now". But then unlike the LP, the cassette followed it up with "Streetwave" and then "Blam". Flip the cassette over (I don't know if I had a two-way deck back then) "Ride O Rocket" started the flip side before mellowing out the rest of the album with the slow jams.

  • @hankaaron1961 I had every Brothers Johnson album they made back then on 8 TRACK, Yah, that's right, 8 track, and I had a Jensen R-330 indash AM/FM/ 8 track player, which was the BADDEST 8 track player ever made. It was manufactured by ALPS Electronics, which was the parent company of Alpine. Any way it was really good, when I played Brothers Johnson it WASSS Awsome!! I had 4 tweeters, 4-6 1/2"'s, 2-6X9's, and 2-8" Pioneer woofers. When LJ hit those bass notes it moved your hair, Great Music!

  • @krkruse1 Sounds like a SERIOUS system! What were you riding in those days?

  • Wonderful classic instrumental jam. Hail to the Brothers!!!!!

  • What a great sound. Night time vibes.

  • This is slammin'!

  • This Song Kicks Major A--! The Brothers Johnson Seem To Have At Least One Good Instrumental On Their Albums. Louis Johnson Has To Be One Of The Greatest Funk Bassists Of All Time!, To Bad They Don"t Make Instrumentals Like They Use To Back In The Day. Oh Yeah, That's Right! You Have To Know How To Play An Actual Insrument!

  • I love listining to this when im on my way home very late drunk in my car :P

    my night wave...

  • @Bomburk

did you say you drive home DRUNK?!?!?

  • Umm... Le Knight Club - Soul Bells? xDDDD

  • Running around the track of Valdosta Jr.High School my senior year of college..thanks for the memories man.

  • wonderful amazing sound, it take's me back in the good old times! Thank's a lot......

  • Easily the Greatest instrumental of all time. Checkout others that groove as well .... Sunrise by Rose Royce and Moneyrunner by Quincy Jones. Plus not forgetting anything by Mike Post and Joe Sample.... Once again Thanks for posting.

  • Ahh, the touch of vinyl in my hands! Nice to the touch & soothing to my ears! That is how I felt about this song while playing it on air in an upstate NY FM radio station!

  • I thought this was from "Light Up The Night".

  • @murdamook504 It's from their 1978 "Blam" album. Of course it's out of print with scalpers asking $80+ for a CD copy. LP's available from Ebay for substantially less.

  • music that moves your imagination, feeling, and soul. absolutely perfect

  • @KewazingaBabinga so true!

  • Notice the part at 3;42 where Louis goes from fingerstyle to thumbing the bass!

  • I remember, when the DJ in the Disco 'Maddox' in Stuttgart starts his work with this masterpiece - 30 years ago.

  • Soul Bells - LKC! awesome!

  • From my parent generation came this music, it inspired the music I love most today, house. When I look at what the rest of music has come to I look at this as a glimmer of hope.

  • yea baby

  • Whatever happened to Brothers One minute they were in the spotlight, and then we blinked, and poof, they were gone.

  • thanks Libanass you obviously know a good bassist when you hear one.

  • i have played bass for 20 years now and i got to say LOUIS has got to be the

baddest. bassest around for real.i see him play solos and break strings coz he so aggressive.

  • @MrTonedeff ABSOLUTLY !

  • @MrTonedeff ABSOLUTLY !

  • @MrTonedeff ABSOLUTLY !

  • THis song could easily be the theme music for sports highlight films!

  • When NBC used to televise AFC games back in the 70's they used this song when they showed highlights of other games at half time.

  • @jazzsax1965 Exactly right I posted this to Eric above I can't believe you also remember this ! I was just starting to play bass then around '72 or '73 and I remember this TV theme song for the NFL show I think it was on Sunday mornings!

Great post ! And great song !

  • @phase901: Sorry that I didn't specify exactly but I was referring to the LATE 70's because this album wasn't released until 1978. But you are correct, this is a great song from a great album.

  • This song is the bomb!

  • This could easily be the theme to some cop 70's show or some theme in a movie.

  • @eric601d Completely agree this to be some theme music to a tv show or movie of the 70's taken place in urban inner city hard life. Or whatever cliche item they said in the 70's to describe the city!! LOL

  • @eric601d yeah taking a ride on the strip, or pulling into the station. it is definatly a groove.

  • @eric601d such a shame it came a year after the professionals, I'd love it if they used this as the theme tune

  • @eric601d Starsky and Hutch? xDDD

  • @eric601d I was just thinking the same thing!

  • @eric601d makes me think of the soundtrack to superfly

  • @eric601d Hey Eric you won't probably believe me when I tell you this and I'm not 100% sure how to find this out but I rememebr this when I first started playing bass this was used as TV theme show at the beginning of a certain NFL show on Sundays - I can't remember what network it was NBC, CBS or ABC - no FOX then it was early 70s when this came out. Someone please cross-check if anyone could

and you will see I am right - I have a good memory when it comes to music.

  • it is highly probable that brothers GRUSIN Dave and Don handled the keyboards with Greg Phillanges...

  • Thanx for the post it reminds me of one of my Best-est friends from Tacoma,WA (lol) the Brother who had everything Freddie Tyrone McCoy now he's with the Angels

  • Aggromerchant - If I remember correctly, I think it's David Foster, if not him maybe Richard Tee.

  • Jeeez!! ...86 quid for this album on CD (from Amazon) ...it looks like the only way I'll get this track on my mp3 player is to buy a copy of the LP on vinyl and convert it. Any other suggestions?

  • I got this on 12" unbelievable quality!

  • tigerman> No-one loves a gloat ;) - can I nip round and plug my audio output leads into your record deck! :))

  • download it from here with real player it also converts itto mp3

  • Thanks for the reference to this, Bri... awesome. EJ
