I built one of those Lego Supercar 14 years ago, it was offered to me in my 10th birthday :)
I also have another interesting model, same size as this SuperCar, it's the 8865 TestCar, worth a look, it's very big and a very complex model. I got it for my 6'th birthday, so it has to be from 1989-1990.
Well there is a motor - but it is a plastic motor. I added a REAL motor to demonstrate how the model transmission works. It is not my model - it is LEGO's. I just build em... I thought it would better show how it works to add my own motor to it to demo the working MANUAL transmission... Bill
They need to like remake these so I can buy them again, I dont like buying off ebay because I got scammed once but I got my money back. I just built the 8297 off Roader and it is sweet. You might have it already but if you dont, you should buy it because its sweet, I already modded the suspension on mine
Well I wish you the luck of the Irish that you may get it!!! NO I'M NOT IRISH!!! Anyhow good luck!!! It is one of the greatest sets ever made by LEGO... Bill
Ah bricklink. What an Aladins cave that is! I currently have the 8868 airtech claw rig on order as well as the 8856 whirlwind rescue helicopter. Two more great sets tho they can be expensive depending on who you buy them from. I recently got the shuttle from bricklink too.
Wow... this set is legendary! Half the battle is getting one into your house! Thanks for showing all the details... underneath is a rear differential and independent suspension. And i've tried making lego gear shifts over the years but they're not this small and elegant. I sure hope it is complete!
Thanks for the comments! I spent the day washing all the components and now they are on a towel drying. I ended up bleaching the white components. All in all it looks in pretty good shape. One small gear was cracked but I'll be able to replace it. Won't really know if it is 100% until I build it! I may start Monday or Tuesday! LARGE SET!!! Be Well.... Bill
Hey nice one I see you got it. I hope my suggestion hasn't had too much of a detremental effect on you're wallet haha! This is a great kit the only 4x4x4 lego ever made and the first with a V8. The gear shift works better than any other set with a gearbox too. The shuttle is actually more complicated than this one, which is good!
Thanks for the comment - AND THANKS FOR TELLING ME ABOUT it! I have it now cleaned and it is drying out. Pretty good shape. Maybe I can start building it tomorrow. The box was in great shape and so the manual. I've "ordered" a SHUTTLE - so we shall see when it comes in. I got hold of some older UNIVERSAL LEGO TECHNIC sets as well. Most from Bricklink... Be Well... Bill
