  • Intro sounds more like science fiction than MV.

  • One of the great instrumentals of all time. Such a sad ending... My heart goes out to Evan. What choice did he have ???

    Peace All.

  • jaisin17 you can't touch this! You can compose until you die dude

  • I love to smoke listening to this.

  • Man I miss this show... Cutting edge.

  • @2:26 holy eargasm

  • Love the intro...have to hear it now and again...wish I could go back to those days...

  • LOVE THIS- I COMPOSE MUSIC like this - but im not rich- SO NOBODY has heard it .. YET..... hopefull though

  • One of the best soundtracks EVER!!! Jan Hammer is just frickin´ awesome!!! And this track represents Miami Vice so perfectly!! Always fitting for every scene of the series!!

  • "Tonight on Miami Vice: Crockett gets the boss a coffee."

  • @WentMillerGal15 That was pretty Ace.....

  • the best track off the entire series. Jan Hammer really hit the spot with this one. Perfect.

  • When I saw this episode and heard this music, I realized that this was not going to be another TV show. It surpassed everytthing on TV in the 1980s and redefined TV in so many ways, you can't count them all.

  • I agree

  • One of the definitive instrumentals of the series!!!

  • friends crockett dead in body ...1000regrets but tubs is present and is a new friend a crockett detective

  • This is my alltime favorite song in history. Have been listening to it since about 1987 and never get tired of it.

  • Epic classic from a TV show that was before it's time. Still is.

  • Terrific tune, and terrific episode. I watch "Evan" every day,and Miami Vice is practically the only TV I watch. I was around the first time in the mid 80's when it was out, only when you get older you start to appreciate how magnificent this show was. William Russ and Al Israel were outstanding in this episode.

  • @Nixter1974007 me too man. MV is pretty much the only show i watch anymore. Other than burn notice. those are the only 2 i watch

  • "It slices...It dices..."

  • A favorite episode of mine. I actually liked and pitied Evan, mostly for his snarky attitude which was just a masquerade for the pain and guilt he felt. "What it is, Blood?"

  • I love the scene in Gusman's house...he starts to get annoyed by Evan's attitude towards Crockett...Who is this big mouth?

  • Here's the thing about this track uniquely: it still holds up perfectly. If I played it for someone who'd never heard it and told them it was off a movie soundtrack that came out last week, they'd believe me.

I write through music, like I'll see a movie in my head and then write what I see, and at the 1:30 mark this song puts so many different possible images in my head it's unlike anything else I've ever heard.

  • when i heard this song as a kid it changed everything. electronica from then on out for me.

  • I sit hear drinkin' a beer pondering the reason for my existence..........

  • I've been listening to all of the Complete Collection tracks posted on YouTube by Markus (thank you Markus!) for several months now. I have to say... this is the finest overall track by Hammer in the Miami Vice series (of course, it helps if you know the story behind the music : ) Just my humble opinion

  • 2:23 onwards. GLORIOUS.

  • Love this song and the scene was very moving.

  • history

  • Even died saving Sonny.. Awsomeguy..

  • It's so epic in 'Evan' when this starts playing as Tubbs and Crockett are waiting at the dock for the weapons dealer to arrive.

  • @Maharv55 Yeah and the camera kinda circles around Crockett and Tubbs... it's definitely one of the best scenes in the series

  • @Santana105 Hell yeah, they don't make TV like that anymore

  • Reminds me of a friend of mine who died a couple of years ago. This was a fav. song of his. I always think of him when I play it.

  • @texmire I AM SORRY ABOUT YOUR LOST HOW DID HE DIE

  • @AWESMEGUY suicide. This song is always a tribute to him.

  • it still gives me the chills. when i hear this theme..after all these years.

  • One of Jan's all-time best.

  • the best part from 2:10 to the end. love it!

  • the keyboard line was also used in techno track

Felix - Don't you want me...

  • Love to see a new series starring the orginal cast back on the screen

  • This is a TV show that got everything right- great cast, great music, great script, great location...I would argue this show is one of the reasons Dexter is so popular..

  • @diamondbackseye Agreed, I've thought that same thing myself when watching Dexter.

  • One of the best Vice Moments. When Crockett runs into Evan at Guzman's house and Evan plays it cool: "What it is bro?"

  • From one of the best episodes, too

  • I had the Soundtrack to Miami Vice back in the mid 80s and almost played this track to death whilst driving my Spitfire with the top down! Probably my favourite Jan Hammer track of all times and a superb episode too.

  • the best TV Show ever made, and the best soundtrack !!! thanks Mr MANN, Thanks Mr HAMMER

  • I don't know if the episode Evan would be half the episode it is without this music. But as it stands, it's one of the best Vice episodes of all time.

  • Synthesizer forever!

  • This is classic!

  • I enjoy the way this song merged with the episode. Just magic on TV

  • @ObltKG4 I like the imagery when Evan blows the car test dummies away, really worked on many levels the whole thing...dare I say "pop art" ?

  • @MintythecatIsABeast Great intro. I am really talking about a deeper subtextual connection with Sonny and the story of Freed. I think Jan's music has a way of supporting a scene with music that synergies into a mood.

  • @ObltKG4 arguably we could pertain that Jan just had a knack for capturing the spirit of the screen the music was developed for and we love him for that.

To me, I am listening out often for the DX7 Synthesiser he used - it is really hard to program this thing!

  • Easily the best track from all of the MV soundtracks!

  • @firstmusic00 so true

  • @firstmusic00: Agreed!

  • Einfach genial. Jan Hammer = Miami Vice = Jan Hammer
