  • The only communist thing in China: no elections!

  • I lived in China, and the control of government over people's mind is scary and awful. Capitalism without democracy, its where all of us are going. China will prevail, and European governments will follow its example. It is horrible, dictatorship of markets. All my solidarity to Hu Jia.

  • DIE! HAHA

  • funnny american people

  • He and his wife are so brave to against the will of all the people of china. this man want to destroy my country!tell the lie to the world!I'm so unbelievable he is a chinese people! maybe he just a gou ri de!

human beings' right just for the citizen!for the true patriot!not the criminal!I believe police have responsibilities to keep watch on a criminal!

I cannot conceive what will he do if that guy come out the prison without the police surveillance! I'm so afraid about that!

  • dpxboy - I salute u

I studied in Australia and US and know the lies and deceit of Western governments. They pay and fully support people like Hu Jia to internally overthrow the government even when the people support it.

They want to change China into Iraq

  • @PRCForever

    ok brainwash is working well.

  • China = law of the communists, u don't belong to them, u have no rights at all...

  • hu jia said in the video: freedom is given by God.

I think freedom is given by law. if the law does not support it, how do u get ur freedom???

  • Do you have any idea what the law is?

  • 支持胡佳!

you deserve the nobel prize hu jia

  • Watch careful chinese people in this viedo clip. I can't beleive. this is right time to against your government policy. how knows communist it might happen in your life! Better wakeup and stand for human right otherwise.

  • We are watching, and caring. I only wish I could do something more. He and his wife are so brave, so worthy of support and kudos. Let us not forget. He needs to be honored, and released from prison.

  • Government and officials r corrupted but Maybe people r sleeping??? hey wakeup chinese people u dont need to know about human right if its too complicated for u n ur not used to with it..but atleast know dat the government is a civil servant who serves not bully u..Dont blame on West and his holiness the Dalai lama rememeber WHEN UR ONE FINGER IS POINTING SOMEONE..UR OTHER 3 FINGERS R ALWAYS POINTING AT U!!SO TRY TO CHANGE THE GOVERNMENT..DIS IS THE RIGHT ANSWER TO THE WEST..IF U HATE DEM!

  • we can talk whatever here, but theres nothing we can do to help her ,really..

  • Its good to see these videos. I get pretty complacent about my freedoms.

  • Thanks all for the comments. I've heard that through whatever limited channels by which it is that Jinyan is getting information in and out these days, she's heard the numbers of people that've seen this and is reportedly very happy at those.

  • a lump stayed in my heart long after I watched this video. it's extremely sad what Hu Jia is going through, and for what? for exercising his inherent right to express himself freely. rights that we take for granted in the West are a luxury in China. what is worse than getting imprisoned in your own house for 200 days and watching your wife followed and harassed by ominous looking government officials everyday!

  • i'm sure that part of the world that believes in human beings' right to freedom and dignity will condemn chinese authorities for this and many others. Hu Jia managed to get this out to the world but what about those unknown intellectuals or activists who are kept under house arrests? I often think about the day when the world gets to see the secret files of chinese government; all those information about people executed and imprisoned for exercising their basic rights.

  • Thanks New York Times for showing some spine. for those who thinks media should play neutral, well I don't think so. Issues like these are so stark in showing chinese government's high-handedness and brutality in depriving the freedom of its citizens that talking about neutrality itself is inhuman and unjust. sometimes you gotta take a stand and stop being a fence sitter.

  • Sadly the human rights we take for granted in much of the West are far from inherent. For 99.9% of human history we haven't had these freedoms.

Here's hoping we keep moving forward and don't fall back.

  • "the rest of the world can hear you".

    We are with you.

  • the rest of the world can hear you.
