Look Up IG Farben Noted the MOST Notorious Corp on Earth. 16 of 20 of their executives AND BUSH were charged as War Criminals 1945. War Crimes Court ordered IG to Defunct Immediately. AIG is IG FARBEN. SAME ALUMNI Bush owned Silesian Steel in Auschwitz Forced Jews to make Steel for HITLER murdered the Frail, shared offices with JOSEPH MENGELE. BUSH ALSO created Senators and Congressmen out of HITLERS Henchmen. LOOK up Trilateral Members They infiltrated EA STATE Do NOT Vote Trilateral COMMIES
The fact that AIG took bonuses when taxpayers are losing their jobs, their homes and money when the economy is dire is absolutely shameful and disgusting!! Familes are trying to afford to put their children in college and to put food on the table and AIG is taking money which is intended for those who need it. They shouldn't get one copper penny of the bonus at all.
Aren't entirely blameless, They knew these bonuses were in place. It was part of the original agreement of the bail out. Now it comes as a big surprise? Hardly. It is simply a matter of the new transparency of this administration and congress. Just wait till the particulars of the new omnibus bill come to light. you know the 1100 page that no one had read completely before passing it? This administration and congress will leave debts far greater than the current $89,000 per person.
The aig bonus is just a diversion for the american people to not find out about the 9.7 trillion dollars that magically disappeared from the federal reserve.
The congress and administration aren't entirely blameless either. In fact, I would put the blame squarely on their shoulders. Why did they vote to allow these bonuses in the first place when they could've prevented this whole mess? Now they are scrambling to pass a bill that is totally unconstitutional. It is us the American people who are blindsided by all this...as usual.
AIG bailout, the housing bailout, the automaker bailout, all these things are full of shit. Most american works their assess off and are living paycheck to paycheck. Or worst..don't even have a place to live. And this freaking government is giving our money away. WTF...by the time this problem is done our dollar won't be worth shit. Why don't we all just print our own money?? And bail ourselves out???? 90 percent bonuse tax..where is it going to end??
Well I know one thing, if they didnt get paid those bonuses, they would have quit AIG and if AIG went bankrupt and had no employeys, then america would be in a really big mess.
The Head of RBS Here in the UK Refused to give his Bonus back to the investors after the Govt asked him to do so ...So they Brought in new legislation and Slapped a 90% Tax all over it ..8 ) ..Keep up the good work i hope this isn,t your last vid ..Watch your stats and ratings YT Usually hamper and restrict them if a vid is of any importance ..Peace
it's not my money... it was stolen from me by a corrupt congress at gun point. Our country has been hijacked.... Congress is responsible for all of this mess. 100% of it.
AIG you will pay for this!!! The execs and CEO KNEW DAMN WELL that the treasurer, Mr.Cashn'Carry, is a pushover and he hands out hundreds of B's like candy. The fact that the truth is out now how tax money is being used at AIG is PROOF POSITIVE that they are GUILTY! and they must pay for these crimes!
Oh yeah right. We the taxpayers are 80% shareholders in AIG. Correction: The United States government is 80% shareholders in AIG. Does anybody really believe that we will see a penny of AIG's money? Of course not. 80% shareholders.......Please wake up people. The gov't spends(wastes) "our" so- called tax dollars how they see fit and all we can do is sit around and complain about it. Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, Liberals, are all (excuse my words) fucking the American people in the ass!
We the tax payers didn't give AIG our money. It's the politicians in this country that gave away our money. We should be pissed off at them and not AIG. This is a country that pretty much live and breath on contracts. If these politicians didn't like it. Why not change it before signing the stimulus bill?? As much as I hated it..these contracts should be honor. And how can congress really complained when they give themselves per diems and bonuses for doing such a terrible job/jobs????
cicero turn on Fox news. Dodd was ordered to reword it to read: no bonuses that were drawn up after Feb. 11 allowing these bonuses. I almost forgot to ask, how do all you taxpayers like paying for Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind, and Fire to play for 2 parties the Obama's threw in one week? Apparently, we are going to be paying for 2 parties a week for some time. The reasoning behind it was that the Obama's were a younger couple than the Bush's and enjoy partying more often as they are more "hip".
Obama asked if we wanted him or more of politics as usual. We hear his answer. He took bush's deficit and tripled it. Now he got caught giving AIG, Freddie Mac, and Fannie may bonuses he ordered Dodd to allow in the bill. So we didn't get the Bush as usual politics. We got 4 times worse. We got Obama. Here we all are bending over while Obama gives it to us in the ass. While he and Pelosi trade smug looks with each other.
I don't call Obama a socialist, I call him an asshole. It's all over the news today: Bush had stipulations put in the stimulus plan eliminating bonuses. Obama and Geithner told Dodd to take that wording out so AIG and others wouldn't sue the treasury dept. They hoped the media wouldn't notice. The media did find out, Obama claimed he was outraged at AIG over the bonuses. The same one's he had the bill passed to allow. Now someone's head has to roll and Dodd's the scapegoat for Obama's stupidity.
You know what's amazing to me? Many people are calling Obama a socialist as if he were destroying the foundation of the country. I've already seen instances where Obama's decisions are helping us at the CORE.
To those of you who think the war in Iraq and Bush and Cheney's "shove it" attitude towards middle America has been "capitalism at its best" you're severely misguided.
I'm glad Obama spoke out against the bonuses. It's time a lot of gluttonous bastards get taken down a peg or two.
It's funny how the leaders in this country are grillin Libby about the aig bonuses when they are the ones that put is in this mess. there is no one else to blame but themselves..not Libby. This aig bonus was in the Stimulus bill which is signed by all including the President of the United States. And because no one read the bill. while signing it...now these politicians are prettending to be outrageous.??? Sure point fingers all u want but at the end go and look in the mirror.
Congress didn't tell them they couldn't give bonuses. Get mad because WE the taxpayers were forced to give AIG any money. Get over the bonus. You are playing into the media lead. Get mad over they whole bail out. CONGRESS makes the laws. Get mad at your REps/Dems that passed the law. They can spend it anyway the want. Punish the REps/Dems and get your butts OFF the couch and campaign against reps/dems. Whine, whine, whine....
Well said! The Obama administration should have held companies like AIG more accountable when it comes to these "perks", but might have rushed this bailout through to get it started. The people at AIG did it because they could.
I know that what they are doing is wrong, but it is also the people's fault. How many times they did wrong things, stealing people's money, and people didn't do anything but keep sleeping! Until people do something to let them know who's the boss here, they will continue stealing our money!
People should wake up! Right now! Stop making the greedy and stupid celebrities rich! It's time to make yourselves richer. Stop being obsessed with stupid stuff that keeps you blinded. Be active and let them know that the power is in your hands! Don't these greedy people get richer and richer and suck all your wealth. Wake up, people! Wake up!
Americans and Canadians need to start talking with their wallets. The best message we can send AIG, and all other financial institutions who don't think they should share in the sacrifices we are all making in the face of this recession, is to STOP DOING BUSINESS with them.
Every customer needs to call their branches, and inform them that unless these bonuses are returned to the company, that they will be terminating their business with them.
This is what America needs. People that don't normally speak up to SPEAK UP!!! You have a voice and it's the most powerful tool you could ever have. Thanks for posting this as I feel exactly the same.
PS: Never in my life did I think I would read the BusinessSection/Front pages before the sports section. Now I don't even read about sports anymore. That's scary... almost like people are waking up.
MONEY TO THE PEOPLE...... screw the stimulus plan or giving the bail out money to ANY Wall Street Co - Give the people the money, as they spend it it will fix economy, stop forclosures, get america out of debt, etc.
PLEASE join my protest to the Bail out and answer 1 question on camera: "How would you spend $297,000 dollars?" - That is the amount of BAIL OUT money given to the people....C'MON AMERICA, JOIN US IN TELLING THE GOV HOW WE COULD FIX THIS ECONOMY!....... The Fight Isnt Over YET!!
Obama and Dodd are being blamed for the AIG bonus scandal, but was it so wrong to assume that the executives would handle the money responsibly and appropriately? If someone were hired as a bank president, would his employer say "We want you to sign these papers to assure us that you won't embezzle any funds." Hindsight is 20/20. IF THE AIG EXECUTIVES HAD CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY THEY WOULDN'T HAVE DIPPED INTO THE CASH REGISTER! Who thought they'd act like little children???
I may need to modify my response. I guess Dodd is in tight with the AIG guys. He may have done more than we think to make the bonuses happen. Will this corruption ever end???
It was wrong for government to bail out a private company. Had they stayed out, the other financials and other money would have moved in and recognized whatever value AIG had. The shareholders would still have taken a bath, but taxpayers wouldn't.
AIG's value would still be in the market, rather than under the 80% control of the federal gov't. The gov't will erode whatever value AIG has and turn it into another Fannie Mae. AIG has effectively been nationalized. Socialism is advancing.
So like I said, Obama was the one that actually gave AIG the bonuses and is acting like he is outraged today. They were hoping to slide it by the media and the American public without our noticing. Is it a coincidence that Dodd got 280,000$ from AIG? You Obama lovers need to pull your heads out of your asses. Those that sent me your shitty emails may now send your apologies stating you didn't know your ass from page 5. Then you may all bend and kiss my ass!!!!!
To all the idiots that sent me their uninformed, four letter, emails defending Obama. As I stated, which was proven by Dodd yesterday, Bush had a clause written in the stimulus plan omitting bonuses. Obama and geithner, (yeah the same guy that tried to get away without paying income tax and should be in prison) decided to take out the wording omitting bonuses because, they were afraid AIG amongst others would sue the treasury if they didn't. Dodd did the deed per Obama's orders.
Bonus is right, you can't stop people from greedy as this is the very basic of this economy. Without greed, the economy was stop functioning. Imagine if you are an AIG executive. You do your best to maximize your own benefits.
All people maximize their own welfare. This is the backbone of capitalism
"you are upset!...you are OUTRAGED!!.. and APPALLED! but I guess the bigger person turns the other cheek (how many damn cheeks do we have to turn? Do you think AIG cares what the peasants and slaves have to say? they are the kings and nobility....Fuck you! youre a working class scum that goes to work 40+hours a wek to pay taxes to the king...who then gives the noblemen your sweat equity. NOW be a good serf and go to work tomorrow...they need $money$ for jet fuel and some fuel for their yachts!
You better work long and hard too...Jet fuel isnt cheap ya know! and also it takes some serious fuel to fill the 150ft yacht(Tahiti here we go). Maybe if you work hard enough they will allow you to shine their shoes during one of your pathetic 30 min lunch breaks. Maybe they will even send vacation pictures to the news on a postcard that reads..."Wish you were here, signed: AIG EXECS!" and P.S. Thanks for the money! FUCK YOU!"
obama and congress will throw money at anyone who wants some bailout money.. shame on obama and his team for not monitoring aig... if obama would work instead of having lavish parties at the whitehouse and stop viewing the ncaa basketball brackets and do some work, we may not being having a conversation about AIG
Okay, there was a contract. They have the right to this money. Additionally, very few - if any - of the actual executives getting bonuses had anything to do with the company's tanking.
Thats what I would have said before the hearing.
Now, I'm going to say "DOES IT MATTER!?!?! Those bastards in Washington and LYNCHING BUSINESSMEN!!! It's a class-based KKK up there! We have to stop them! Did what they called a 'hearing?' Send DODD, PELOSI, FRANK, and OBAMA back where they belong- NORTH KOREA!!!
I don't think the executives that are collecting bonuses are "probably good people." No... They are complete slime. Where is their conscious? It just goes to show how greedy corporate America really is. But the ones I TRULY blame is the U.S. government. I think the Obama Administration acted far too quickly in enacting these bailouts without really much oversights... They so quickly that they failed to recognize the legal loopholes. This loophole was so big you could drive a truck through it.
How stupid are Republican voters? I can understand people calling for common sense regulation of the market being outraged with AIG, but Republicans? Werent these same voters/leasers cheering on Bush2 when he was bragging, I AM THE DEREGULATOR IN CHIEF, do these voters even understand what that means in application? To me the real public outrage should be directed on to Republican leaders that are confusing the voters while supporting wall street crooks with deregulation, specially now.
"you are upset!...you are OUTRAGED!!.. do you think AIG cares what the peasants and slaves hav to say? they are the kings and nobility....fuck you! your a working class scum that goes to work 40+hours a wek to pay taxes to the king...who then gives the noblemen your sweat equity. NOw be a good peasant and go to work tomorrow...they need money for jet fuel and some fuel for their yahcts!
Although I dont know about those things much, but really, as far as I know, taxpayers own 80% AIG, O,o, then why dont those AIG exec servants ask taxpayers "can i get a bonus plz?" first? prob time to fire those greedy people and hire some others that understand the situation of American economy... and the unemployment rate ._.
investors own 80% of aig. they invest in a company in hopes that what they do, will hopefully be fruitful for the investors. the investors don't have a say, because it is a limited liability corporation. they have limited liability, but also limited input.
$105 Billion of AIGs bailout money is being used to pay off private hedge funds, more of it has been passed on to Paulsons Goldman Sachs, this is socialism for the rich.
The bonus issue is very important but dont let it divert attention from Paulsons bailout. What happened to that money ($183 billion!)? Why did Paulson try to rush that through with zero transparency and a clause forbidding clawbacks. Why did so much of this money go subsequently to Goldman Sachs (Paulsons ex employer)? Something looks pretty rotten here.
By all means go after these disgraceful bonuses but dont lose sight of the much larger sums in bailout money. Its ultimately your money.
what did you expect? they gave $170 billion dollars to this bank, and now you and everyone else is mad that they're using it how they want. i don't understand how your going to complain over the less than 1% that's going to bonuses, when they didn't tell them how they're supposed to use the money in the first place. then they don't even have the right to tell them how to use it. welcome to the communist age people!
You're right. My anger on Sunday and in this video was to the news of the bonuses. Over the last few days my frustration has moved to the larger picture incorporating these bonuses. The government reaction or lack thereof when they knew. The collective outrage at this issue from these hearings is ridiculous and will create more frustration with ridiculous witch hunt regulation
The politicians want you to react that way and be angry. They just don't want the light of day to ever shine upon them. If that happens, the truth becomes undeniable and the source of the problem becomes clear. It reinforces this basic truth:
"Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem."
@boughttoday Don't swallow your anger to far bro, Our Govt. were just paying their "boss". And this is not communism, this is an insidious capitalism running roughshod over you, me and every single working stiff in this country. They hold us up,lose our money, and then get a bail-out from our ball-less govt. And you know what? Those elitist scum carry on, business as usual.
jtizzle82. 1% of the money is actually alot of money. And it was given to 73 people, which represents like .005% of the people that are involved. The money was given to AIG to "improve the economy".
it's still less than 1%. the money was GIVEN to aig, in hopes that they wouldn't go under. bottom line. and if you're just going to throw money around like that, did you honestly expect it to work out how you would want? no. because not everyone has the same interest as you.
Actually all companies stocks went down from 2 years ago. And actually it might be a good idea to start investing in AIG right now. They went up like 200% in the past few days.
As a contrarian, I understand where you're coming from. As a short-term play, you may be right.
It might make sense long term, but the majority ownership the government now holds means that AIG has ceased to exist as a viable company. The politicians are practically running it now and that will only worsen as time drags on. The government exerted huge power over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and where are they now. Gov'ts are chronic fuck-ups and incapable of running things as business.
The political considerations will always trump business considerations. That's why the debts and deficits are out of control, no matter which party runs things. Fiscal responsibility and accountability went down the toilet long ago.
The financials should recover, but with the administration and congress solidly socialist, I'm waiting until later. If the conservatives get control of the Repub party again, that is what is needed here for success in congressional elections in 2010 and 2012.
Edward Liddy came out of retirement to work for AIG for no pay, no bonuses, to help save America from colapse... HAHAHAHAHAHA ...Can you guys believe this shit? I am glad we have good honest patriotic guys like Liddy to help giant corporations survive!! lol
if you're investing and have the money, it is a pretty good bet this company is not going to fail based on the A@# covering that is going on. Will run up and down and people will make money on the news
OK, this opens up all kinds of things then doesn't it. In the same breath, UAW worker's contracts with the big three no longer exists. All bets are off. If the employees of AIG who had retention bonuses in their contracts no longer have them, then GM, Chrysler, and Ford do not have to stay commited to the contracts that they have with the greedy unions...right?
NO shame to the American people..like the saying goes" fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame aon me" except it should be extended to say fool me three or for times and I am a complacent idiot who does not have the guts to stand against treason. The government has been in bed with big business and bankers long enough and has become treasonous towards the citizens.
If any of you had a clue and you know this shit just does not happen. Hey did any of your elected officials give up their raises in '08 that amounted to 27K. These people who "let this happen" cause they are the ones passing legislature, yet you all think that because we get bonuses we are the bad guys. How many Elected Officials are going through what you are going. How many of them lost money in the market and since they did not how did they do it. Ignorant Bottom feeders all of you.
Why would congress give AIG billions without restrictions on how the money is used? Could it be that congress is not working for the taxpayer, but for big business? No, surely not...lol
You're wrong about the bonus program. Chris Dodd put it in the stimulus bill to support his donars. The government used AIG as a conduit to fund friends of the government without paying them directly. This fake anger by the congress is a 'wag the dog' to keep you from seeing the truth. It's a scam, and they knew about it the whole time. It's in the stimulus that all contracts before Feb will be honored. Welcome to Corpratism.
Republican's are so blinded. They say that anybody that can't afford their house is lazy. Well maybe they worked hard but they lost their job. How can you Republican's say that somebody that lost their job is lazy and made bad choises.
It goes to show it's all fucked up. The farmers and working class are getting fucked. All government suck, accept O'bama. Know this that O'bama is legit and respect him because he's not collectiing but trying to make things right.
Know this. Obama does not take bribes. That's why he's upset with AIG for giving out millions in bonuses. Obama needed some money for his campain but he will not be bribed.
Obama has been bought and paid for. The list is long - the unions, the NAACP, the environmentalists, the wall street movers... He is owned - don't kid yourself.
I always thought a bonus was for work WELL DONE. These people have helped ruin our economy and they are getting bonuses for that????
Let them crash and burn - people can get insured with other companies. I cancelled my policy with AIG after they received the first bailout money and spent 1 MILLION on a "party". Everyone should cancel business with AIG.
In the 1970s, CEOs made 30 times as much as the average worker; by 2006, it was 370 times as much. All the while, market forces have steadily reduced costs across the board. Why are chief executives immune?
Wake up pal. This money can be used as a battle cry to get goverment the hell out of our private sector and make a statement. Fact of the matter is its more ludicris that our president has say on how executives at a fortune 500 company ought to be paid. Heaven forbid if the goverment tries to tax these bonuses 100%, you and i should both pick up a gun!!! Geithner and his FED buddie's diabolical plot to buy up walls street is backfiring, and get ready to defend your wealth from tryants!!!
Hate to upset you more but the brilliant minds on capitol hill knew that AIG was going to hand out bonuses. Not only that there is a part in the stimulus bill that protects this bonus from the stumbling fingers of the government.
Chris Dodd wrote the language in the Stimulus bill which GUARANTEED that the employees of AIG would get these bonuses, and almost every Democrat in Congress, including ALL of the idiots currently complaining about the situation now, voted in favor of it! The Democrats have known about these bonuses for months, yet now they're pretending to be surprised by them. Both Dodd and Obama got huge contributions from AIG last year, so why are they allowed to keep that money when AIG employees can't?
First we allow these parasites in Congress to give billions of dollars to other parasites at places like AIG, and then we act surprised when they start pissing that money away? All of these babbling politicians told us that they had to act NOW... they couldn't be bothered to actually read the bills they were passing. Remember that? So they got what they wanted, and that includes paying out these bonuses. You wanted change? Well, you asked for it, now bend over!
Darc Prynce...Im glad someone besides me is telling it like it is. Its kind of funny that they would act surprised of the corruption...they asked and begged for it...now they got it. Lets stop bitching and address PROBLEM #1....BANKER RUN GOVERNMENT!
thank you for this video!!! america we are being fucked by the richest 1 percent wake up! 80 percent of the nation's wealth is held by the richest 1 percent!.... greedy ass people!
its those 80% who open factorys, give people job, its those people who took a risk to start a business, its those 80% who pay the most taxes, who help to support people on wealthare.
*****u didnt get me the people are not the 80 percent.... 80 percent of the nations wealth is held by the richest 1 person meaning that if there are 10 people and ten oranges, 1 person will have 8 oranges and 8 people will share 2 oranges. your richest 1 percent is not a millionaire he is a billionaire ****
yes and those top 1% also pay the most taxes,im not for the bail out or this abuse of tax payers money, but i am for free enterprise, if you tax and tax those 1% of people they will more likeley move there industry else where, or out sorce else where to cope with the increased taxes.
whitch means less revenue and a loss of valuble jobs, i my self dont care, i live in cambodia, and would welcome American jobs to come here
These executives might spend a million dollars on a piece of art work or a fucking pool party. Think of how an average working American would distribute a million dollars in this economy. Wages have been terribly lop-sided in this country for far too long. And government officials are wondering why consumers have closed their wallets.
I keep hearing people that they are "outraged..pissed off etc.....OKin middle ages when peasants were mad at being taxed they stormed the castle wall and delivered the message to the king with a noose.AMERICANS are too complacent and that is why big business keeps steamrolling the people. Kings(government) pays noblemen(big business) with the money from peasants(taxpayers) learn from history...the situation is the same only the names have changed. Force should be met with equal or greater force!
gotta say you have a point. In the 4 days since I have bothered to follow this it is becoming increasingly apparent that the Government is sensing the publics disenfranchisement and reacting to keep people in control. Not Dem or Rep but government in general. The public is too complacent after years of a general trust that we are protected. Only when it hits people where it hurts do people (myself included) start to wake up.
Still pissed for some of the same and a lot of different reasons.
Look up "Obama deception" it will open your eyes all the way. I am not some conspiracy nut, just someone who realized the constant lies throughout government(obama saying troops will be out immidiately...yet he sends more in ) the lies about the money and I started researching out of disgust...come to find out its just a huge banker -run scheme!
If the events that are happening in the US happened any other other country, I guarantee there would already be riots in the streets !
I mean how much more convincing do these thieving crooks have to be before anyone takes notice ? They are literally coming out of the woodwork from every crook and cranny saying they are thieves !
thats right! america is being fucked by the richest 1 percent!... the richest 1 percent holds over 80 percent of the nations wealth wtf! how can we sit here and let this happen
The bonuses are roughly .09 % of the money handed out by the federal government.
The government rushed in and handed AIG the money. The government is increasing its ownership in a company whose stock was $49 less than a year ago and is now worth less than $1.
You are very well spoken and Intelligent. Please continue to let your voice be heard. I am so angry as well. What I love about your video is that you did not blame anybody. At this point it doesnt matter who did what but what matters is that this is straightened out and that IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!
"This is ridiculous," exclaimed Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont. He said AIG executives "need to understand that the only reason they even have a job is because of the taxpayers."
Enough said. I think THAT in itself paints the WHOLE picture and the sad situation that is AIG.
Don't blame AIG. They were handed the money without stipulations. Blame the fool that gave YOUR money away without forethought. What do you all think of your messiah Obama now? lol
Ask yourself why have nt the Dems or repubs done anything to stop the looting of the U.S . Because there all on the same team , by the people for the people my foot . Your now ruled by an elite few that make decisions for the few .
If small companies make bad decisions they go under. The financial services industry cannot allow AIG to go under because it would pull under an incredible amount of other connected companies with them. AIG employees should be thanking their lucky stars that they have jobs. Maybe it's just me, but bonuses should be for a job well done. Call me strange, but I don't think they did their jobs too well. AIG should restructure. By that I mean fire top management and get new people.
The only thing Obama and the Democrats are outraged about, is they got caught. The government has known about these bonus contracts since last fall. Geitner and Obama dropped the ball on this one and they are outraged? Taxpayers own 80% of AIG now, so we should be able to fire those getting and giving bonuses.
OK, I realize my comment may not be a popular one but it needs to be said anyway.
For decades, people at all corporate levels have received bonuses. Those nearer the top get the most.
It's been part of the American way for a long, long time.
Before the recession, no one said squat about bonuses. And over the past twenty years, those in good positions have taken LOADS of bonuses gleefully (and still do).
I'm not saying AIG is right. But no one would say no to a bonus in the US culture...
well it's more about how capable AIG's able to pay bonuses. If they have had such big lost and out of money already, they shouldn't even freaking pay bonuses with their "debt" from the US government. nothing about the US culture, we are just proud dumb asses. Sometimes we do need to agree that we started this whole financial crisis by making bad decisions on loans, credit debt, and paying bonuses when we don't have money.
but thats the point exactly...those greedy cunts know the situation thats going on and yet still they want to pull this shit off.and you notice they're hiding behind closed doors.the media should put their pictures on tv let us see who they are.we always knew it has been goin on but we're in a crisis here and those guys are taking advantage.madoff's in jail so lets rally and put them behind bars.
yea and twenty years ago they aig did not get bailed out by taxpayers. so now its different. i know where you are coming form of course no one will deny a bonus
Warm it up in Washington, DC with the real source of the problem. Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Chuck Schumer would go first. The list is endless.
While I have no love at all for any of those you list there (especially pelosi, reid, dodd, and frank) you really think they are the reason for all of this?
I'm sorry, I just dont think it was the gay, tree- hugging, global warming, anti-war union types that were pushing for deregulation, NAFTA/CAFTA, privatizing the military and starting police actions around the world, and the incessant pushing for the cheapest possible foreign slave labor.
Those idiots have been handing the money out like candy on hallow'een.
The root cause of the financial crisis today was the politicians and their advocacy of the 'affirmative action housing' policies enacted in stages since 1977.
The deregulation of the Gramm bill allowed banks and other financial institutions to cross into alternate lines of financial business. Inherently, there was nothing wrong with that. It opened up competition.
The problem came when Clinton insisted, and Gramm allowed the expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act into the bill. This is how the 'affirmative action housing' happening already at Fannie Mae, was spread.
The problem was the weak regulatory requirements of the GSEs. This was identified by the Republicans in the wake of accounting 'irregularities' at the GSEs in 2004. The Democrats, led by Frank and others, staunchly defended the GSEs and blocked the Republicans attempts at regulations in the house financial services committee.
Watch the Dems circle the wagons around the GSEs in 2004. The wonderful results at Fannie/Freddie the Dems speak of resulted in the federal takeover in 2008. This started the ball rolling.
If it all had stopped with the GSEs, the problem might have been contained. AIG and the others should have been left to the market, thus saving the taxpayers billions and ownership in failing businesses like AIG. They have become corporate welfare cases and will continue to be.
most folks are well aware of the republican spin concerning this debacle.
What have banks/lenders done since the loan was invented if the borrower defaults? Certain folks seem to think the houses/properties vanished into thin air and the poor innocent lenders are thusly unable to reposess and recoup.
I know those of you on the left don't like the truth being pointed out. Confusing 'spin' and the truth is something you people do regularly. The new messiah looks like He isn't going to allow foreclosures and even allow judges wide latitude in court regarding mortgages etc.
Let's see - force the lenders by law to lend to unsuitable people, then don't allow the lenders to repossess when the inevitable default happens. Sounds like liberal 'compassion' to me...
Frank and others blocked regulatory reforms for the GSEs in committee in 2004, in the wake of accounting scandals at Fannie. Frank wasn't as concerned about that as he is about the AIG bonuses now. I wonder why..
Where the current crop of idiots responsibility lies is the endless bailout started during the Bush administration. Had AIG been let go, the other financials would have moved in and grabbed up the value. When the gov't got involved, that started the credit crisis.
I've voted for democrats & republicans, but what really irritates me about the modern day republican is his sense of entitlement (a word that's often used against democrats). The idea of "trickle down" economics is to reward an entire company, not just the higher ups like they were part of the Russian mob! Okay, you don't want to reward those beneath you? Then NO tax breaks, NO special favors, NO bailouts. These AIG guys need to be fired... NOW! They are IRRESPONSIBLE!
This video struck me so well that I created an account so I could save it and read the comments. I, too, have voted for both parties. The fact that none of them have come out to decline speaks volumes of our culture and their cynical exploitation and of their patriotism. Contracts, please. What happened to being a citizen? Political prejudice is one thing, greed is greed, but this is treason.
A nation, an interconnected planet, demands it. Something else afoot besides more of the same crap. No matter how couched, a chasm. Yet, now, there might be change. The sheer possibility beyond comprehension for decades spanning both parties. At last some seriousness to meet the expectations of a nation. Communism, fascism, long vanquished by a might democracy, prosperity and what. It just never got around to checking the lack of allegiance of, well, capitalist pigs.
I like what you said. AN INTERCONNECTED PLANET. I get the sense we're seeing a lot more of "It's all for me, not much left for you." That's not going to make us a strong nation. I'd like to see this not be about democrats vs. republicans either. I'm so tired of the rhetoric from both sides (although I have to say republicans really annoy me of late).
I just want to see people in office who'll make us stronger as a whole. I believe Obama's starting to do that. We'll see.
Obama is socializing the country. The messiah is spending the money of the nation's great - great grandchildren. AIG's mismanagement looks like childplay in comparison to the actions of the messiah and the imbeciles in congress.
I really like Obama. I love the way he speaks & takes decisive action.
I voted for Bush twice. It was a mistake, especially the second time around. He didn't speak so well either! (One of his great ones that made me crack up -- "We have to work hard to restore chaos!" LOL!)
Money is very fluid as far as I'm concerned. Wealth is a state of mind. If the republican misers feel like Obama's taking from their overstuffed pockets, they'll use their brains to get it back again!
PART 2 -- You made me think of something else too. Spending the money of past generations. Money is tangible and constantly in flux. "You can't take it with you" as they say. Once somebody dies, the money they had is no longer theirs. I'd hate to be worrying about cash on my death bed!
I get very metaphysical about all of it, but that's for another show!
Look Up IG Farben Noted the MOST Notorious Corp on Earth. 16 of 20 of their executives AND BUSH were charged as War Criminals 1945. War Crimes Court ordered IG to Defunct Immediately. The fact that AIG took bonuses when taxpayers are losing their jobs, their homes and money when the economy is dire is absolutely shameful and disgusting!! Familes are trying to afford to put their children in college and to put food on the table and AIG is taking money which is intended for those who need it. They shouldn't get one copper penny of the bonus at all.
bolden212 2 years ago

While he and Pelosi trade smug looks with each other.
slick711 2 years ago
I don't call Obama a socialist, I call him an asshole. It's all over the news today: Bush had stipulations put in the stimulus plan eliminating bonuses. Obama and Geithner told Dodd to take that wording out so AIG and others wouldn't sue the treasury dept. They hoped the media wouldn't notice. The media did find out, Obama claimed he was outraged at AIG over the bonuses. The same one's he had the bill passed to allow. Now someone's head has to roll and Dodd's the scapegoat for Obama's stupidity.

The politicians want you to react that way and be angry. They just don't want the light of day to ever shine upon them. If that happens, the truth becomes undeniable and the source of the problem becomes clear. It reinforces this basic truth:

it's still less than 1%. the money was GIVEN to aig, in hopes that they wouldn't go under. bottom line. and if you're just going to throw money around like that, did you honestly expect it to work out how you would want? no. because not everyone has the same interest as you.
jtizzle82 2 years ago
JayZoop - I guess the government really fucked it up- are you really surprised about that?
The taxpayer is now the majority owner in a company whose stock is around $1, from a year high of about $50. Yep, good investment.
HelmutHedd 2 years ago
Actually all companies stocks went down from 2 years ago. And actually it might be a good idea to start investing in AIG right now. They went up like 200% in the past few days.
JayZoop 2 years ago
As a contrarian, I understand where you're coming from. As a short-term play, you may be right.
It might make sense long term, but the majority ownership the government now holds means that AIG has ceased to exist as a viable company. The politicians are practically running it now and that will only worsen as time drags on. The government exerted huge power over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and where are they now. Gov'ts are chronic fuck-ups and incapable of running things as business.
HelmutHedd 2 years ago
The political considerations will always trump business considerations. That's why the debts and deficits are out of control, no matter which party runs things. Fiscal responsibility and accountability went down the toilet long ago.
The financials should recover, but with the administration and congress solidly socialist, I'm waiting until later. If the conservatives get control of the Repub party again, that is what is needed here for success in congressional elections in 2010 and 2012.

Hate to upset you more but the brilliant minds on capitol hill knew that AIG was going to hand out bonuses. Not only that there is a part in the stimulus bill that protects this bonus from the stumbling fingers of the government.
braq360 2 years ago
Chris Dodd wrote the language in the Stimulus bill which GUARANTEED that the employees of AIG would get these bonuses, and almost every Democrat in Congress, including ALL of the idiots currently complaining about the situation now, voted in favor of it! The Democrats have known about these bonuses for months, yet now they're pretending to be surprised by them. Both Dodd and Obama got huge contributions from AIG last year, so why are they allowed to keep that money when AIG employees can't?
DarcPrynce 2 years ago
First we allow these parasites in Congress to give billions of dollars to other parasites at places like AIG, and then we act surprised when they start pissing that money away? All of these babbling politicians told us that they had to act NOW... they couldn't be bothered to actually read the bills they were passing. Remember that? So they got what they wanted, and that includes paying out these bonuses. You wanted change? Well, you asked for it, now bend over!

yes and those top 1% also pay the most taxes,im not for the bail out or this abuse of tax payers money, but i am for free enterprise, if you tax and tax those 1% of people they will more likeley move there industry else where, or out sorce else where to cope with the increased taxes.

These executives might spend a million dollars on a piece of art work or a fucking pool party. Think of how an average working American would distribute a million dollars in this economy. Wages have been terribly lop-sided in this country for far too long. And government officials are wondering why consumers have closed their wallets.

gotta say you have a point.
Still pissed for some of the same and a lot of different reasons.

militantrebell 2 years ago
Wrong. America is being fucked by its government.
$165000000 versus
$180000000000
The bonuses are roughly .09 % of the money handed out by the federal government.
The government rushed in and handed AIG the money. The government is increasing its ownership in a company whose stock was $49 less than a year ago and is now worth less than $1.
Tell me again who is fucking America.

Ask yourself why have nt the Dems or repubs done anything to stop the looting of the U.S . Because there all on the same team , by the people for the people my foot . Your now ruled by an elite few that make decisions for the few .
ozzycriss 2 years ago
If small companies make bad decisions they go under. The financial services industry cannot allow AIG to go under because it would pull under an incredible amount of other connected companies with them. AIG employees should be thanking their lucky stars that they have jobs. Maybe it's just me, but bonuses should be for a job well done. Call me strange, but I don't think they did their jobs too well. AIG should restructure. By that I mean fire top management and get new people.
sfincione2000 2 years ago
The only thing Obama and the Democrats are outraged about, is they got caught. The government has known about these bonus contracts since last fall. Geitner and Obama dropped the ball on this one and they are outraged? Taxpayers own 80% of AIG now, so we should be able to fire those getting and giving bonuses.
bertly71 2 years ago
OK, I realize my comment may not be a popular one but it needs to be said anyway.
For decades, people at all corporate levels have received bonuses. Those nearer the top get the most.
It's been part of the American way for a long, long time.
Before the recession, no one said squat about bonuses. And over the past twenty years, those in good positions have taken LOADS of bonuses gleefully (and still do).
I'm not saying AIG is right. But no one would say no to a bonus in the US culture...
bloggerjoe 2 years ago
well it's more about how capable AIG's able to pay bonuses.

While I have no love at all for any of those you list there (especially pelosi, reid, dodd, and frank) you really think they are the reason for all of this?
I'm sorry, I just dont think it was the gay, tree- hugging, global warming, anti-war union types that were pushing for deregulation, NAFTA/CAFTA, privatizing the military and starting police actions around the world, and the incessant pushing for the cheapest possible foreign slave labor.
mizilus 2 years ago
Those idiots have been handing the money out like candy on hallow'een.
The root cause of the financial crisis today was the politicians and their advocacy of the 'affirmative action housing' policies enacted in stages since 1977.
HelmutHedd 2 years ago
HelmutHedd
The "root cause"?
Hmmm...
Strange it didn't blow up until the republicans (phil gramm) started all their deregulation.
democrats have been on the republican payroll and/or trying to get a piece of that action.
mizilus 2 years ago
The deregulation of the Gramm bill allowed banks and other financial institutions to cross into alternate lines of financial business. Inherently, there was nothing wrong with that. It opened up competition.
The problem came when Clinton insisted, and Gramm allowed the expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act into the bill. This is how the 'affirmative action housing' happening already at Fannie Mae, was spread.
HelmutHedd 2 years ago
HelmutHedd
deregulation of what gramm bill?
If you are talking about the repeal of Glass-Steagall then there was most definitely something inherently wrong with that.
mizilus 2 years ago
The problem was the weak regulatory requirements of the GSEs. This was identified by the Republicans in the wake of accounting 'irregularities' at the GSEs in 2004. The Democrats, led by Frank and others, staunchly defended the GSEs and blocked the Republicans attempts at regulations in the house financial services committee.
HelmutHedd 2 years ago
/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs

HelmutHedd 2 years ago
Frank and others blocked regulatory reforms for the GSEs in committee in 2004, in the wake of accounting scandals at Fannie. Frank wasn't as concerned about that as he is about the AIG bonuses now. I wonder why..
Where the current crop of idiots responsibility lies is the endless bailout started during the Bush administration. Had AIG been let go, the other financials would have moved in and grabbed up the value. When the gov't got involved, that started the credit crisis.
HelmutHedd 2 years ago
I've voted for democrats & republicans, but what really irritates me about the modern day republican is his sense of entitlement (a word that's often used against democrats). The idea of "trickle down" economics is to reward an entire company, not just the higher ups like they were part of the Russian mob! Okay, you don't want to reward those beneath you? Then NO tax breaks, NO special favors, NO bailouts. These AIG guys need to be fired... NOW! They are IRRESPONSIBLE!
FigurinItOut 2 years ago
This video struck me so well that I created an account so I could save it and read the comments. I, too, have voted for both parties. The fact that none of them have come out to decline speaks volumes of our culture and their cynical exploitation and of their patriotism. Contracts, please. What happened to being a citizen? Political prejudice is one thing, greed is greed, but this is treason.

Well, Obama had a few choice words for the AIG guys. Let's see if there are any consequences!
FigurinItOut 2 years ago
A nation, an interconnected planet, demands it. Something else afoot besides more of the same crap. No matter how couched, a chasm. Yet, now, there might be change. The sheer possibility beyond comprehension for decades spanning both parties. At last some seriousness to meet the expectations of a nation. Communism, fascism, long vanquished by a might democracy, prosperity and what. It just never got around to checking the lack of allegiance of, well, capitalist pigs.
sleepingcatt 2 years ago
I like what you said. AN INTERCONNECTED PLANET. I get the sense we're seeing a lot more of "It's all for me, not much left for you." That's not going to make us a strong nation. I'd like to see this not be about democrats vs. republicans either. I'm so tired of the rhetoric from both sides (although I have to say republicans really annoy me of late).
I just want to see people in office who'll make us stronger as a whole. I believe Obama's starting to do that. We'll see.
FigurinItOut 2 years ago
Obama is socializing the country. The messiah is spending the money of the nation's great - great grandchildren. AIG's mismanagement looks like childplay in comparison to the actions of the messiah and the imbeciles in congress.
HelmutHedd 2 years ago
I really like Obama. I love the way he speaks & takes decisive action.
I voted for Bush twice. It was a mistake, especially the second time around. He didn't speak so well either! (One of his great ones that made me crack up -- "We have to work hard to restore chaos!" LOL!)
Money is very fluid as far as I'm concerned. Wealth is a state of mind. If the republican misers feel like Obama's taking from their overstuffed pockets, they'll use their brains to get it back again!
SEE PART 2
FigurinItOut 2 years ago
PART 2 -- You made me think of something else too. Spending the money of past generations. Money is tangible and constantly in flux. "You can't take it with you" as they say. Once somebody dies, the money they had is no longer theirs. I'd hate to be worrying about cash on my death bed!
I get very metaphysical about all of it, but that's for another show!
