I really wanted a mini - I test the drove the base mini- That gave new meaning to the word Jerky ride. The S model was definitely a great improvement but stilla hint of jerky at low rpm. the controls are not intuitive - the guy is right about the Sun roof - how come they haven't fixed that yet. Why no armrest and the optional one is not that great. I still love the Mini - who wouldn't love the shape but there just too many compromises for long term ownership.

I'm not a fan of mini BUT he's just being too negative, A friend of mine owns a club man and we haven noticed those "flaws" he mentions, you can see perfectly what you need to see on the rear view mirror, in handles great, and it's comfortable to ride., Interior is tight but better than the standard mini, my only complain is that there is only 1 rear access door, i think that it would be better a 4 door configuration but i believe it is a great mini

If your to stupid that you cant read the ginormous speedometer numbers then all you have to do is look at the tach and there is a digital speed reading right there!!! If you scuff your fingers on the armrest then lift it up!!! That's why it lifts up if its not height adjustable!!!

I don't think this guy read the owner's manual. If he wanted to see mph, he could have easily done so by changing the settings so the mph is shown digitally on the tachometer. The beauty of the MINI is the quirks, like the center speedometer that pays homage to the original created by the Alec Issigonis, and personally, I like the carrot/candy corn marks used for the fuel gauge.

I thought that the Peugeot 308 looked tiny... before I got to THIS car!  It does look cool though... whatever, it'll be fun.

I've had my Clubman since they were first released and I have never once had a problem with the pillar in the back window. There is nothing small enough to get completely blocked from view by that thing except for maybe a Vespa that's 300ft behind you.

I'm 6'5" and almost 400 pounds, looking for a car, and when I drove the cooper clubman, it was one of the most comfortable drives I had, the center console was fine, and visibility was slightly impinged but nothing crazy. This guy is just a hater.

For all the detail this chap gives, he misses out some key points. For example there is a digital speedo in the rev counter if you don't like central speedo.

If I can park one of these in a UK size parking space then you're not going to have problems in the US.

If you have the standard suspension the ride is pretty good, firm but comfortable. What do you expect of a sport model?

As for rear legroom, it's still a Mini not a minivan.

The Clubman's not perfect, but not as bad as he makes out.

I can now say the speedometer is truly a crappy design. Not because it's busy, but because the numbers are only marked every 20 mph (on the odd numbers no less; 10, 30, 50, 70 etc) & because there are no marks at all for 5mph increments. Thus, the unmarked line representing '40 mph' is the first mark after 30 mph and always looks like '35 mph' to me.

Thanks for the psychoanalysis. The reason that "real drivers" don't use the center speedo is two fold. (1) It forces you to take your eyes away from your intended path, and (2) the center speedo is typically off by a few mph (or kph) while the digital readout is generally more accurate.

The centre speedo is cool! Its just there to add to the funkyness of the car, the digital speedo on the rev counter gives a more accurate readout, so what does it matter if the centre speedo is too "busy" and in your opinion, not very accurate and difficult to read?!

Yet this anti-feature is never mentioned in any of the MINI promotional materials. And viewers come to these videos to learn EXACTLY that kind of information.

I actually like the speedometer. I don't find that it's "busy" at all. Also, the separation between the windows in the back isn't a big deal at all. There's really no reason to complain about it as it doesn't obstruct your vision noticeably.
