you can use a bolt, washers, nut to compress the spring, or a piece of threadall with the right nuts and washers will also work, just easier to use the spring compressor.
@monsterj1j you can! use some all tread and some bolts. but the top washer... to make it. (safe like) you'll need to weld it. the washer has spaced gap for ez removal of the snap ring 1:062:05 is the piece!

could you just use a nut and a wrench to tighten the spring instead of that special tool
