Because he DOESN'T run a 4.4. ESPN had him at 4.82 at their camp and he only ran 4.65 in the 20 yard short shuttle. He doesn't have the explosiveness or the numbers that correlate with a 4.4 time in the 40 and it doesn't look like it on tape either. However, it doesn't matter Jerry Rice was only about a 4.6 guy, with Metoyer's size and ball skills he'll be fine at in college. He's never going to be burner though, like Desean Jackson.

@GatorsDatCHAMPS I agree man, I'm so tired about hearing what all these recruits top speed is. I could care less how fast you are as long as you can catch the ball when your number is called!! There are hundreds of D1 receivers who have blazing fast speed but can't make the big catches in big games.

The only thing he needs to work on is his running style. I'm watching highlights and he tends to fight for yardage way too much, which is a good thing. But in college football he will get stripped alot his first year.

Other than that looks like a good decent football player to me I'll give a projection of his first year stats. If he starts........

Junior - 77 catches, 1,169 yards, 15 TDs

Senior - 101 catches, 1539 yards 23 TDs

Was also bumped up to a 5star recruit and will be playing in the Army All American game.

Whitehouse was beaten out of the playoffs in the second round. Trey finished with 101 catches for 1539 yards and 23 TDs in his senior year. Along the way he added his name to the record books at 2nd in all-time Texas highschool career receptions with 257, behind Jordan Shipley who had 264. Also is 3rd all time best in Texas Highschool football at 52 career TDs.

Trey's stats through 6 games are unmatched - George Farmer's stats are laughable. He has poor numbers even though he plays against cute, little private school rich kids that surround that hell hole called Gardena, California.

Landry is a nice little player, but he and Shipley will both be major busts. Just admit to Trey's greatness and save yourself some time.

His stats aren't unmatched there are a lot of receivers putting up similar numbers. One of them Dorial Green-Beckham is better than anyone you named and he already has 1545 yds this season and had 1616 yds and 23 tds last year as a sophomore. He's putting up better numbers and hes just a junior, he's the best high school WR in the country regardless of grade.

I know it's in your best interest to promote this kid, but a couple manually timed 4.4s aren't going to mean much at the next level. Compared to the company he keeps as far as the nation's top WRs, Metoyer isn't distinguishing himself because of his speed. Other elite recruits like George Farmer, Jarvis Landry, Sammy Watkins, etc appear faster on tape and have timed faster as well. It's his physicality and ability to go up and get the ball that really separate him from everyone.

@cmthorson2 this type of receiver, speed isn't really everything, and on top of that he does have decent speed. look at brandon marshall and larry fitzgerald, when you go up and get the ball and can run after the catch that's really all you need
