I have a 9500i and I have avoided a ticket with laser. The I was at least 20 over... going over a hill.... the first time my new detector went off for laser I hit the brakes. sure enough there was a cop hiding in the trees. Saved my #$@#. do not tell me it can not be done....
Next time flash your lights to warn others that there is a snake in the grass. Common courtesy. I mean, you're point of the video is to show people how well your detector works - presumably so they'll go out and get one to protect themselves as well... So, if you're offering that kind of help, why not be even more direct by 'lighting up' all oncoming and passing motorists to "watch out"?

It is a direct beam of light pointed at a specific car. Unlike the radar detector, which is a radio wave that you can "detect" even if it is not pointed at you directly.

Not exactly, laser detectors are aimed at picking up laser "splash" once the beam hits another vehicle. It will be too late if an officer is targeting you, but in a scenario with other cars on the road it can be beneficial.
@TheSneakySnake101 There is no laser splash, if your detector goes off in laser mode is because the laser was actually crossing you. Try holding a laser pointer at night to something in the distance and you will find it difficult to hold steady. I agree with you that if there are others on the road they might get them but only if they are the ones in the front, which means you are behind. I do not want to be trailing anybody at 85 or 90 mph.

Not always. Lasers like the Stalker Dual 2 have a "lock on" period which can take up to 5 seconds. If you have a good reader like this guy has, that's enough time to slow down for anyone.

Laser is so pinpoint, the detector wont go off unless its pointed at your car. Radar is broad so it picks up all sorts of radar at distance. My 9500 picked one up over a mile away with his radar on.
If you're going up against a laser, you'll need a jammer. It takes a third of a second to lock your speed. Your reflexes and the cars inertia are no match.
All that detector does for you is tell you you're caught... If they shoot laser, you're done. The fact that it didn't go off when he got the other guy just proves how worthless that detector is...
What fines do you have? Here in the UK you get 3 points for up to 50mph in a 30 limit, then 4 or 5 for more. Over 70mph & below 100MPH on the motorway is 3-5points, over 100MPH is a ban! You can have a max of 12points before you are banned. 3points & £60 fine is most common, but this increases rapidly. Go over 60 in a 30 and it's a ban too. The police hide here between cars, in bus stops, behind hedges and in unmarked cars and bikes! It's a money making scam, only inappropriate speed kills.

A: If there were such a thing as national traffic laws this might matter, but since you don't know the laws in his state, or my state, don't act like you can give advice. It is legal where I live, not to mention he could have flashed his brakes.

@acekazel There was an article about floridians warning others about flashing there lights, using Florida Statute 316.2397 wrongful use of headlights. When investigated the stature has nothing to do with headlights in fact according to the handbook you should flash when passing or overtaking. Flashing may be illegal in some states but not in VA, MD, PA,and CA( on single lane highways)
If highbeams are outlawed in your state invest in some foglights, aim low and done. Or get the trapster app

@coolmarck if theyre using laser it will only go off if they directly hit you. The beam is only a foot or so wide, which is why its so hard to detect. Radar scatters in all directions, so you can pick it up even if your not the one being aimed at.
@venom400 For ANY laser detection to work the cop has to be shooting the laser at you, not at someone else.. or it has to glance through their car's glass or around one to hit you. I have actually been saved from laser 2 out of 3 times by this happening. Was extremely lucky :)
@bockydo Because the LASER is a vary narrow beam of light, designed to pick the speed of the car the cop is shooting at...the only time your radar detector is going to go off is when "YOUR" car gets hit, and by the time it alerts you, cop already has your speed, which is why you get a Laser Jammer, or Don't speed at all.
@bockydo laser is very accurate and does not spread like radar does, so it is VERRYYY difficult to pick it out with a radar/laser detector until it hits you.

@coolmarck if theyre using laser it will only go off if they directly hit you. The beam is only a foot or so wide, which is why its so hard to detect. Radar scatters in all directions, so you can pick it up even if your not the one being aimed at.

@venom400 For ANY laser detection to work the cop has to be shooting the laser at you, not at someone else.. or it has to glance through their car's glass or around one to hit you. I have actually been saved from laser 2 out of 3 times by this happening. Was extremely lucky :)

@bockydo Because the LASER is a vary narrow beam of light, designed to pick the speed of the car the cop is shooting at...the only time your radar detector is going to go off is when "YOUR" car gets hit, and by the time it alerts you, cop already has your speed, which is why you get a Laser Jammer, or Don't speed at all.

@bockydo laser is very accurate and does not spread like radar does, so it is VERRYYY difficult to pick it out with a radar/laser detector until it hits you.
