Guys, thats fucking enough, you guys should shut the fuck up and let people talk about the guide, and not damned differences between HoN and LoL. LoL is F2P for a reason while HoN is (was) paid for a reason...
lol is a much more casual game, easier to get into and much more noob friendly. It's much more forgiving when one is out of position and the towers offer more protection early on. Hon can be very unforgiving, when someone new to the genre or game plays it they and get rolled. being out of position usually always ends in a death, towers arent as much as a deterrent at earlier levels and juking is much more involved then just, hide in bush.
long story short,i play and love both for what they are.
@pressApressB ganking (or ganging) is where people on the other team group up and try to kill you (with/without) teammates where they have a numbers advantage (hence gang)generally, they will try to surprise you by coming through jungle, river, flank, behind etc. rarely will they come front unless they can stun and then kill quick...carry is the hero who will quite literally "carry" your team late game...almost all carries dominate late game but suck early because of item dependence (need gold)
@tibiaroxxxx lolz i play both and so do most of my friends and i know at least 3 ppl that think LoL is harder then HoN i personaly dont but just thought i would say :)
@tibiaroxxxx The thing is....in LoL you have alot bigger HP pools compared to the damage done, so the game is focused alot more around outplaying people during the fights. HoN is about 99% knowing when to engage the fight, and when to dodge it, while the fight itself doesnt allow nearly as much skill output.
So what this mean is that HoN is alot more about "knowing what to do", wich seems alot harder to beginners, however, since LoL is more micro intensive, it will have to highest skill cap.
@tibiaroxxxx Do you really not understand what influence micro has to the skillcap of a game?
If a game is all about knowing what to do there is a "cap" of how much you can know, eventually you cant become much better, because there simply isnt anything more to know.
When a game depends more on micro, there is no skillcap, because you play against other players. The will be a constant opportunity to outplay eachother.
Do you seriously not understand this basic concept of games?
@Harresd I do but you dont. You see LoL is a game where you dont have to do anything. Just rightclick all the time. Any skill in that? NO! HoN is a game where last hits and deny is important. Where you need to know what do to. And when to do it. Team work. And more. LoL once again is only rightclick
@tibiaroxxxx Ok you must be a troll or something.....
Do you realize that LoL is allmost the exact same game as dota and hon? WTF makes you think last hitting and denying isnt important in LoL? And team work? Are you even serious?
Don't even bother replying to this because you are obviously some little kid or either a troll and i wont take the effort to read your next comment.
@tibiaroxxxx Ah right i see we have a confusion here. Denying refers to the act of preventing an enemy from getting a killing blow, which is not necessarily done by killing your own minion (HoN caused a bit of confusion here by putting denied in your screen when you kb your own minion).
BTW, killing your own minions was purposely removed in LoL to create a more skilldependant gameplay focused around fighting, instead of creating a mass farm fest.
@Harresd Okey first of all HoN was out before LoL. HoN beta came out for about 5 years ago. So you are wrong there. And HoN is a more skill game. Because you need to know when to do it how to do it and why to do it. And LoL is like yeah im going to right click on you.
@tibiaroxxxx "Okey first of all HoN was out before LoL. HoN beta came out for about 5 years ago. So you are wrong there." I never said anything about that lol, wtf are you talking about?
And do you realize that both are almost the exact same game based on a game called DotA? Your arguments are ridiculous man, knowing what the do is the base of the game, in both games. The only difference is that LoL is bit more micro heavy because of the increased health and mana pools and shorter cds.
@Harresd You still think LoL is harder? Omg i cant say anything more than i already have said. First i thought you was a guy trying to argument over a game you like. But now i know you just dont have a bran. I feel sorry for you man. I really do ...
@tibiaroxxxx HoN is less dependent on micro and therefore pretty much all about knowing what to do, as you said yourself, which might seem really hard to a beginner. But there is a certain "cap" in how much you can know. If for ecample HoN would be played by a bunch of superintelligent aliens, noone would ever die, and the match would be decided after the champion picking, thats just how it is with a game thats all about knowing what to do.
So yes, LoL has a higher "skillcap" while at the same time being more beginner friendly. Why did you think LoL is one of the most succesfull E-Sports atm, and HoN prett much failed compared to the hugelness of LoL in the competitive world?
@Harresd Haha HoN is sooo much better. If the LoL players would play HoN they would suck. If the HoN players would play LoL they would be kinda good. HoN is alot more harder. Once again. I feel sorry for you.
@tibiaroxxxx Is your IQ below 80 or something? LoL is one of the most succesfull E-Sports in the world, do you even know what an E-Sport is? It means that the game is so good that million of dollars are being made.
Did you actually think that LoL would be 100 times bigger if HoN was a better game?
HoN failed HARD in the E-Sports scene because it is a DotA copy, LoL is designed to be a more better and more competitive version of DotA. And as we see by its succes, it is.
@Harresd This will be the last thing i will write to you because i dont like to speak with people that have ADHD and stuff like that. LoL is rightclick attack all the time. HoN is a game where you need skill. Reason that more people play LoL is because LoL is f2p from the begining. And that you dont need any skill for LoL!
@tibiaroxxxx I was talking about the pro scene, not the amount of people who paly it. LoL is one of the biggest E-Sports at the moment, which means that it is one of the best and most skill dependant games in the world. HoN did not nearly make it as far in the E-Sports scene, because it simply doesnt have a high enough skillcap.
These are simple facts which you can not deny. Did you rly think all those pro's and sponsors went to LoL if it was the "lesser" version of DotA? use your tiny brain plz
@tibiaroxxxx The popularity of a game has little to do with how succesfull it becomes as an E-Sport. Look at all those xbox shooters who are HUUUUGGEE, but still they dont mean anything on a competitive level.
League of Legends currently stands among LEGENDS in the E-Sports world like Counter-Strike 1.6 and Starcraft. HoN can only dream of one day becoming as good as that......But obviously it wont, because it is a DotA copy....., isntead of an improved version of it.
@tibiaroxxxx Exactly, and to become one of the greatest E-Sports in the world, a game needs to be one of the most skill dependent games in the world, which LoL has proven to be, and HoN failed horribly......
Are you even aware of how big E-Sports are? Have you ever heard of games like Counter Strike and Starcraft? They are the top of the top, the most skill dependent games in the world. And LoL is currently writing its name between them buddy.
@Harresd LOL wait wait you're serious.....HAHAHAHAHAHA.... I'm sorry buddy but LoL was designed for casuals. It is basically DotA but stripped of many mechanics and replaced with bullshit mechanics like summoner spells. Save yourself the embarrassment, don't ever say that again.
@TheClassyHat Say what again? That LoL is a Top E-Sport, something only the most skill dependent games in the world can ever be, and that HoN failed at it because its gameplay didnt suit the pro scene?
You do realize this is a fact right? You can just google it.
Like i said before, HoN is 99% knowing what to do, thats why it seems hard to beginners, because, well, beginners dont know what to do. But a game that is only about knowing what to do cant ever go pro. You need more micro, like LoL has
@Harresd LoL requires as much skill as playing farmville stop saying that if you don't have anything to back yourself up. HoN didn't fail in the competitive scene... You do know that the people that fund the HoN competitive scene are all real sponsors not S2. LoL on the other hand, the majority of its funding it from Riot. HoN became competitive organically while Riot forced its game there as a marketing scheme. If you have played both games you would know LoL is dumbed down for kids like you.
@TheClassyHat LoL is one of the most succesfull E-Sports atm, how is that not proof for it being one of the most skill dependent games in the world? Have you ever seen a top E-Sport that isnt one of the most skill based games?
LoL tournaments are all over the world at all the major Lans and game events, standing among legends like starcraft.
HoN can only dream of one day becoming as competitive as LoL is atm. But it wont, because its a DotA copy, with the same flaws as DotA had, no micro at all.
@Harresd LoL fakes their numbers by putting the stream in game so that it shows the number on players online instead of people genuinely interested. Also riot buys their way into a lot of tournaments like IEM and MLG. How is HoN and DotA require no micro when you HAVEN'T PLAYED EITHER GAMES. HoN was suppose to port DotA because it was a great game but with many engine limitations. According to your logic, if you strip a game of many mechanics it becomes harder and more competitive...
Ok so in the beginning there was DotA. It was a suprisingly good game for a "mod" in wc3. DotA was designed my Icefrog but most people will say its succed came from Tom Cadwell's mastermind like balancing skills.
Over time, DotA started showing flaws, which limited the game of getting more succesfull as an e-sport. The game wasnt about fighting, but instead, most of the game revolved around knowing what to buy, what champions to pick.....
The fights itself allowed minimal skill output, over 90% of the time when a fight started, the outcome was allready decided, so the game revolved around knowing when to engage and when to dodge the fight instead of actuall pvp combat.
Tom Cadwell had argued about making the game more competitive and combat based before but to do so would require to completely throw the game around, so it was never done.
Eventually the idea of making a new game came But there were major differences in opinion, and the DotA "crew" started going they're own directions.
Tom Cadwell and a few others started making a game they had in mind, a version of DotA better suited for competitive play, with more combat, skill output, and less farming and simply knowing what to do. They wanted a game where knowing what to do isnt enough.
They wanted a game that was still about knowing what to do, but that as soon as you know what to do you actually still have to outplay people.
Do to so, they did the following:
They greatly increased health and mana pools compared to the damage done and spell costs.
They made more active combat skills, with alot shorter cooldowns, they added more crowd control effects, while making them less effective (because in DotA in some match ups getting 1 cc wins the fight)
They made a few other changes, such as removing damage on your own creeps. Denying in DotA heavily favored certain champions made the game too dependent on what setup you played.
All in all, they changed a bunch to make the game more micro dependent, making it possible to express skill during fights, instead of having a game that is all about what champions you pick and what items you buy.
And now your saying that a copy of DotA, where outcome of a fight is in 99% of the time decided by: the champion setup, the items bought, and the time ingame, is a more skill dependent game??
Try to keep in mind that when a game is all about knowing what to do, and you dont know what to do.........that might go horribly wrong to a beginner. So many people will say HoN and DotA are harder.
But if you've just read everything i wrote, youll know better by now. NP!
@Harresd Youre an idiot. Youre ignoring what I'm saying and just saying "lalala I can't hear you! LoL is still harder even though I never played HoN or DotA before." All action RTS games are dependent on the hero setup, and time ingame, even LoL no matter how much you deny it. HoN is harder because there are a lot more mechanics in the game that you can use to your advantage. And in order to use them effectively you have to keep track of them at all times, while in LoL you just gotta press flash
@TheClassyHat I told you that i did play HoN and DotA, your the one thats ignorant and ignoring what i am saying.......
And the only mechanics that are removed from LoL are the mechanics that caused to revolve more around setup as skill.....
Think about it for a second, some things might seem hard to a beginner, but do you really think a pro has trouble knowing what item to buy, or when to not attack someone who is stronger than them?
Everything that makes HoN "harder" refers to noobs not pros
@Harresd LoL removed many mechanics to make it EASIER for new players as the game was designed for CASUAL players. HoN is harder because it punishes you for your mistakes, like wasting your skill and mana while LoL gives you massive mana regen at the beginning of the game. Many people who are veterans at HoN that test out LoL tend to dominate the game with an amazing score while LoL players who try HoN end up feeding the enemy team. HoN develops your sense of strategy and reflexes.
@TheClassyHat You talk about the games from a beginners perspective. To a beginner, yes it matter if you waste your mana, but people who are good at the game simply wont do so.
For people who are smart enough to not walk into a champion who 2 shots them, or waste mana like a noob...., a game like LoL where there is constant harrasment and combat going is alot more interesting.
On the pro level HoN is just a boring setup dependent farm fest because of those mechanics you praise.
@Harresd Pro level HoN is very fast paced and has ganks going on every couple minutes so I have no idea what you are talking about. LoL is an easy game and this is a fact, just admit it. You keep talking about how LoL requires more skill when you provide no reason why while i keep telling you that fewer mechanics does not raise the skill ceiling for a game... The harder the game punishes you, the harder the game. And personally I find this fun as it makes me try harder.
@TheClassyHat I told you why all the time. The only mechanics which are removed from LoL are the mechanics that cause the game to tend more toward being setup up based than skill.
Denying is a good example of this. While it is true that denying itself is a great way to output skill, and i must say, comming from DotA, i miss this sometimes... But denying simply favors some champs waaay to strong above others, and that way the game starts to revolve around farming instead of combat.
@Harresd You require teamwork to setup a gank or team battle. And you need skill to do it correctly and to its fullest potential. So by LoL removing the setup part of the game they are also removing a lot of skill required because you know you can just do whatever then herp derp *flash* and avoid all ganks. All action RTS games including LoL revolve around farming... I'd like to see you win a game with low farm. Killing opponents counts as farm by the way.
@TheClassyHat Ofcourse they didnt REMOVE the setup part of the game.....LoL is almost the exact same game as HoN.
The only difference is that HoN is pretty much ALL about knowing what to do (setup, items, when to fight, etc) and LoL provides abit more opportunity to express skill during the fights (being abled to win a fight when you have a disadvantage by outplaying people, etc..).
But ofcourse farming and strategy is still important in LoL.....were you even serious?
@Harresd So your main argument for why HoN is bad is also in LoL. Also how is it ONLY about setup? wtf. "LoL provides abit more opportunity to express skill during the fights (being abled to win a fight when you have a disadvantage by outplaying people, etc..)" why are you assuming you can't do this in HoN? I'm now completely convinced that you have either played 1 or 2 games of HoN or have not played it all and is now lying out of your ass to bash a good game.
@Harresd Define a bit more? Is it the bushes because they just makes juking even easier than having to trick your opponent into taking the wrong directions with the trees. Bushes give you instant invisibility and the ability to see outside of them so they are also a dumb mechanic.
@TheClassyHat I told you before, please start reading what i write...
I order to make the game more micro heavy, they increased health and mana pools. This means that you live longer, the fights lasts longer, and more happens. And there are also alot more cc's, and alot of abilitys with shorter cooldowns.
So basicly, fights lasts longer, and more is happening.
You could somewhat compare it to a world of warcraft arena match. (ofcourse it is far from it, but its closer to it as DotA and HoN are)
@Harresd Everything you listed is to make the game easier not harder... They do this so that noobs that use their skills randomly don't get punished for it with low cool down and high regen. The slower fights is also for noobs who are too slow to react "o shit it's a team fight...I should ulti or something". In HoN everything is crucial. Also there are a lot of items in HoN with spells so heroes end up with at least 6 skills each. Carries tend to have less while support has more.
@TheClassyHat Are you aware that LoL got invited to the MLG because of this new micro intensive gameplay???
Are you aware that LoL got invited to the WCG because of this new micro intensive gameplay??
Stop being ignorant please.......micro is the way to go if a game wants to go pro. But hey! You keep on playing your game that is all about knowing what to do.......atleast that way, if you suck, you can just play enough untill you know alot, and youll always be abled to own after all.......
@Harresd You do realize that any game can get into those tournaments with enough money right? Also do you also consider CoD Black Ops and Halo to be one of the most heavily skilled games because they are also in MLG? LoL is not micro intensive you dumbass. You only control 1 Hero and 4 skills which averages out to about 100 APM compared to starcraft where you control a whole army and APM averages out to about 250 - 300. They only put LoL there because they have money and dumb viewers like you.
@Harresd MLG chose dota because they know more people will watch it. Also DotA is the same as HoN so once again you have proven yourself to be an idiot. The skills in LoL are designed to be easy to land so it is not more "micro heavy" in anyway.
@tibiaroxxxx I'd like to see proof. I deem both to be equal. The rest is just a matter of taste. Swearing because your taste isn't matched by another guy seems to be kind of impolite, hm?
@tibiaroxxxx lol is better u have more chars to play it looks better has better graphics looks more realistic more people play it and the gameplay is better
@tibiaroxxxx if u say so. i had the choice between those 2 games i tried both and i like lol more hon i dont liket looks its so gray and has no colors.... -.-
@TheClassyHat LoL mana regen is far from "massive". If you played the game, you would know that, and your opinion would have some credibility. Alas, you have not, and you are not credible.
@Luciffrit I only played LoL a few times, and that was months ago, but when I played, I had decent game, meaning I killed, and thats coming from a DotA noob, then i moved to HoN, everything was a lot harder.
Over all, it just on who we play with and who we play against which determines the difficulty of the game, but I do agree with TheClassyHat that LoL has ridiculous early game HP and Mana regen :))
@TheClassyHat yep HoN is hard and lol is easy but they are both great games even though i suck pretty hard at hon so I am looking for ways to improve so if you know any they would be appreciated
@Harresd I know more about E-sport than you will ever know. And a game like counter strike everyone can play. So you dont need to have that much skill. Same with LoL thats why everyone play it. HoN you need some freaking skills to play. And not many people can do that. And thats why its not that popular.
@tibiaroxxxx '" I know more about E-sport than you will ever know."" "" And a game like counter strike everyone can play. So you dont need to have that much skill. "" Ok it is time to stop taking you serious....
@TheDcac The 2 are hard to compare but lol has alot more micro intensive teamfights for sure. The fights last alot longer and there are so much more abilities going on. It is in someway slightly comparable to a WoW arena match, where it can take time to kill someone.
@chuckycheezy1 the only things you need to learn are: the map so you know jukes, chases, entrances/exits etc., the fact that there is NO brush to hide in or recall spell, there is a rune (powerup) in the river that can quickly cause you to lose a 1v1 if you were chasing in river...everything else is the same
Why auto attack the neutrals :O let them hit your own creeps down so you can deny them and lasthit the neutrals that way you get more and the enemies get little or none at all. to make the enemie get none you double or triple stack the camp before lane pull
This should be slightly remade (about denying and tablets) and posted as a general laning guide for all MOBAs. It's very well done and covers pretty much everything outside of detailed hero/champion comps.
@SillyponyJK No, he actually bought the item ''Invisible Surfboard''. It's new in HoN, costs 2000... it's awesome, gives you the ability to fly over the map.
i remember i was tb and i was laning against electrician and chipper, and i had a wildsoul in jungles. I knew i was screwed from the beginning and asked for help and noone came. I ended up 0-6 and it was apparently my fault for losing the game. people just do not want to leave their lanes to help out their teammates. Its soo gay
@skerskies auto attacks is doing nothing but letting your character attack by itself, to avoid this either press the H button ( holds your character ) or you can move left and right.
thanks for DotA

@tibiaroxxxx Do you really not understand what influence micro has to the skillcap of a game?
If a game is all about knowing what to do there is a "cap" of how much you can know, eventually you cant become much better, because there simply isnt anything more to know.
When a game depends more on micro, there is no skillcap, because you play against other players. The will be a constant opportunity to outplay eachother.
Do you seriously not understand this basic concept of games?
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd I do but you dont. You see LoL is a game where you dont have to do anything. Just rightclick all the time. Any skill in that? NO! HoN is a game where last hits and deny is important. Where you need to know what do to. And when to do it. Team work. And more. LoL once again is only rightclick
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx Ok you must be a troll or something.....
Do you realize that LoL is allmost the exact same game as dota and hon? WTF makes you think last hitting and denying isnt important in LoL? And team work? Are you even serious?
Don't even bother replying to this because you are obviously some little kid or either a troll and i wont take the effort to read your next comment.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd You cant deny in LoL you idiot!
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx Ah right i see we have a confusion here. Denying refers to the act of preventing an enemy from getting a killing blow, which is not necessarily done by killing your own minion (HoN caused a bit of confusion here by putting denied in your screen when you kb your own minion).
BTW, killing your own minions was purposely removed in LoL to create a more skilldependant gameplay focused around fighting, instead of creating a mass farm fest.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd Okey first of all HoN was out before LoL. HoN beta came out for about 5 years ago. So you are wrong there. And HoN is a more skill game. Because you need to know when to do it how to do it and why to do it. And LoL is like yeah im going to right click on you.
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx "Okey first of all HoN was out before LoL. HoN beta came out for about 5 years ago. So you are wrong there." I never said anything about that lol, wtf are you talking about?
And do you realize that both are almost the exact same game based on a game called DotA? Your arguments are ridiculous man, knowing what the do is the base of the game, in both games. The only difference is that LoL is bit more micro heavy because of the increased health and mana pools and shorter cds.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd You still think LoL is harder? Omg i cant say anything more than i already have said. First i thought you was a guy trying to argument over a game you like. But now i know you just dont have a bran. I feel sorry for you man. I really do ...
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx HoN is less dependent on micro and therefore pretty much all about knowing what to do, as you said yourself, which might seem really hard to a beginner. But there is a certain "cap" in how much you can know. If for ecample HoN would be played by a bunch of superintelligent aliens, noone would ever die, and the match would be decided after the champion picking, thats just how it is with a game thats all about knowing what to do.
Harresd 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx post 2, read other first
So yes, LoL has a higher "skillcap" while at the same time being more beginner friendly. Why did you think LoL is one of the most succesfull E-Sports atm, and HoN prett much failed compared to the hugelness of LoL in the competitive world?
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd Haha HoN is sooo much better. If the LoL players would play HoN they would suck. If the HoN players would play LoL they would be kinda good. HoN is alot more harder. Once again. I feel sorry for you.
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx Is your IQ below 80 or something? LoL is one of the most succesfull E-Sports in the world, do you even know what an E-Sport is? It means that the game is so good that million of dollars are being made.
Did you actually think that LoL would be 100 times bigger if HoN was a better game?
HoN failed HARD in the E-Sports scene because it is a DotA copy, LoL is designed to be a more better and more competitive version of DotA. And as we see by its succes, it is.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd This will be the last thing i will write to you because i dont like to speak with people that have ADHD and stuff like that. LoL is rightclick attack all the time. HoN is a game where you need skill. Reason that more people play LoL is because LoL is f2p from the begining. And that you dont need any skill for LoL!
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx I was talking about the pro scene, not the amount of people who paly it. LoL is one of the biggest E-Sports at the moment, which means that it is one of the best and most skill dependant games in the world. HoN did not nearly make it as far in the E-Sports scene, because it simply doesnt have a high enough skillcap.
These are simple facts which you can not deny. Did you rly think all those pro's and sponsors went to LoL if it was the "lesser" version of DotA? use your tiny brain plz
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd You are so stupid! LoL is more popular because its free. And you dont need any skills to play it. OMG!
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx The popularity of a game has little to do with how succesfull it becomes as an E-Sport. Look at all those xbox shooters who are HUUUUGGEE, but still they dont mean anything on a competitive level.
League of Legends currently stands among LEGENDS in the E-Sports world like Counter-Strike 1.6 and Starcraft. HoN can only dream of one day becoming as good as that......But obviously it wont, because it is a DotA copy....., isntead of an improved version of it.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd Who cares about how big a game is? It is the SKILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLS THAT COUNT!
tibiaroxxxx 6 months ago
@tibiaroxxxx Exactly, and to become one of the greatest E-Sports in the world, a game needs to be one of the most skill dependent games in the world, which LoL has proven to be, and HoN failed horribly......
Are you even aware of how big E-Sports are? Have you ever heard of games like Counter Strike and Starcraft? They are the top of the top, the most skill dependent games in the world. And LoL is currently writing its name between them buddy.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd LOL wait wait you're serious.....HAHAHAHAHAHA.... I'm sorry buddy but LoL was designed for casuals. It is basically DotA but stripped of many mechanics and replaced with bullshit mechanics like summoner spells. Save yourself the embarrassment, don't ever say that again.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat Say what again? That LoL is a Top E-Sport, something only the most skill dependent games in the world can ever be, and that HoN failed at it because its gameplay didnt suit the pro scene?
You do realize this is a fact right? You can just google it.
Like i said before, HoN is 99% knowing what to do, thats why it seems hard to beginners, because, well, beginners dont know what to do. But a game that is only about knowing what to do cant ever go pro. You need more micro, like LoL has
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd LoL requires as much skill as playing farmville stop saying that if you don't have anything to back yourself up. HoN didn't fail in the competitive scene... You do know that the people that fund the HoN competitive scene are all real sponsors not S2. LoL on the other hand, the majority of its funding it from Riot. HoN became competitive organically while Riot forced its game there as a marketing scheme. If you have played both games you would know LoL is dumbed down for kids like you.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat LoL is one of the most succesfull E-Sports atm, how is that not proof for it being one of the most skill dependent games in the world? Have you ever seen a top E-Sport that isnt one of the most skill based games?
LoL tournaments are all over the world at all the major Lans and game events, standing among legends like starcraft.
HoN can only dream of one day becoming as competitive as LoL is atm. But it wont, because its a DotA copy, with the same flaws as DotA had, no micro at all.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd LoL fakes their numbers by putting the stream in game so that it shows the number on players online instead of people genuinely interested. Also riot buys their way into a lot of tournaments like IEM and MLG. How is HoN and DotA require no micro when you HAVEN'T PLAYED EITHER GAMES. HoN was suppose to port DotA because it was a great game but with many engine limitations. According to your logic, if you strip a game of many mechanics it becomes harder and more competitive...
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat " How is HoN and DotA require no micro when you HAVEN'T PLAYED EITHER GAMES. "
Why are you randomly assuming i haven't played them? Ofcourse i played them before comparing them to other games.....wtf did you think?
Ok let me explain you what LoL really is and why it is more competitive in my next comment (because of the character cap.....)
Harresd 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat Post 2

Harresd 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat post 3

They wanted a game that was still about knowing what to do, but that as soon as you know what to do you actually still have to outplay people.
Do to so, they did the following:
They greatly increased health and mana pools compared to the damage done and spell costs.
They made more active combat skills, with alot shorter cooldowns, they added more crowd control effects, while making them less effective (because in DotA in some match ups getting 1 cc wins the fight)
read post6
Harresd 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat post 6
And they called it League of Legends.

@TheClassyHat post 7
NP!
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd Youre an idiot. Youre ignoring what I'm saying and just saying "lalala I can't hear you! LoL is still harder even though I never played HoN or DotA before." All action RTS games are dependent on the hero setup, and time ingame, even LoL no matter how much you deny it. HoN is harder because there are a lot more mechanics in the game that you can use to your advantage. And in order to use them effectively you have to keep track of them at all times, while in LoL you just gotta press flash
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat I told you that i did play HoN and DotA, your the one thats ignorant and ignoring what i am saying.......
And the only mechanics that are removed from LoL are the mechanics that caused to revolve more around setup as skill.....
Think about it for a second, some things might seem hard to a beginner, but do you really think a pro has trouble knowing what item to buy, or when to not attack someone who is stronger than them?
Everything that makes HoN "harder" refers to noobs not pros
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd LoL removed many mechanics to make it EASIER for new players as the game was designed for CASUAL players. HoN is harder because it punishes you for your mistakes, like wasting your skill and mana while LoL gives you massive mana regen at the beginning of the game. Many people who are veterans at HoN that test out LoL tend to dominate the game with an amazing score while LoL players who try HoN end up feeding the enemy team. HoN develops your sense of strategy and reflexes.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago 50
@TheClassyHat You talk about the games from a beginners perspective. To a beginner, yes it matter if you waste your mana, but people who are good at the game simply wont do so.
For people who are smart enough to not walk into a champion who 2 shots them, or waste mana like a noob...., a game like LoL where there is constant harrasment and combat going is alot more interesting.
On the pro level HoN is just a boring setup dependent farm fest because of those mechanics you praise.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd Pro level HoN is very fast paced and has ganks going on every couple minutes so I have no idea what you are talking about. LoL is an easy game and this is a fact, just admit it. You keep talking about how LoL requires more skill when you provide no reason why while i keep telling you that fewer mechanics does not raise the skill ceiling for a game... The harder the game punishes you, the harder the game. And personally I find this fun as it makes me try harder.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat I told you why all the time. The only mechanics which are removed from LoL are the mechanics that cause the game to tend more toward being setup up based than skill.
Denying is a good example of this. While it is true that denying itself is a great way to output skill, and i must say, comming from DotA, i miss this sometimes... But denying simply favors some champs waaay to strong above others, and that way the game starts to revolve around farming instead of combat.
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd You require teamwork to setup a gank or team battle. And you need skill to do it correctly and to its fullest potential. So by LoL removing the setup part of the game they are also removing a lot of skill required because you know you can just do whatever then herp derp *flash* and avoid all ganks. All action RTS games including LoL revolve around farming... I'd like to see you win a game with low farm. Killing opponents counts as farm by the way.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat Ofcourse they didnt REMOVE the setup part of the game.....LoL is almost the exact same game as HoN.
The only difference is that HoN is pretty much ALL about knowing what to do (setup, items, when to fight, etc) and LoL provides abit more opportunity to express skill during the fights (being abled to win a fight when you have a disadvantage by outplaying people, etc..).
But ofcourse farming and strategy is still important in LoL.....were you even serious?
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd So your main argument for why HoN is bad is also in LoL. Also how is it ONLY about setup? wtf. "LoL provides abit more opportunity to express skill during the fights (being abled to win a fight when you have a disadvantage by outplaying people, etc..)" why are you assuming you can't do this in HoN? I'm now completely convinced that you have either played 1 or 2 games of HoN or have not played it all and is now lying out of your ass to bash a good game.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat "LoL provides ABIT MORE opportunity to express skill during the fights "<-------
"why are you assuming you can't do this in HoN?"
...................
ABIT MORE !!! how can you not understand this..........?????
Do you even read what i write?
Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd Define a bit more? Is it the bushes because they just makes juking even easier than having to trick your opponent into taking the wrong directions with the trees. Bushes give you instant invisibility and the ability to see outside of them so they are also a dumb mechanic.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat I told you before, please start reading what i write...
I order to make the game more micro heavy, they increased health and mana pools. This means that you live longer, the fights lasts longer, and more happens. And there are also alot more cc's, and alot of abilitys with shorter cooldowns.
So basicly, fights lasts longer, and more is happening.
You could somewhat compare it to a world of warcraft arena match. (ofcourse it is far from it, but its closer to it as DotA and HoN are)
Harresd 6 months ago

Harresd 6 months ago
@Harresd You do realize that any game can get into those tournaments with enough money right? Also do you also consider CoD Black Ops and Halo to be one of the most heavily skilled games because they are also in MLG? LoL is not micro intensive you dumbass. You only control 1 Hero and 4 skills which averages out to about 100 APM compared to starcraft where you control a whole army and APM averages out to about 250 - 300. They only put LoL there because they have money and dumb viewers like you.
TheClassyHat 6 months ago
@TheClassyHat LoL got invited by MLG, infact, MLG has to choose between LoL and HoN, and they choose LoL.
And i never said LoL was a micro heavy game, i just said they made it abit micro heavier as DotA used to be.

@Harresd MLG chose dota because they know more people will watch it. Also DotA is the same as HoN so once again you have proven yourself to be an idiot. The skills in LoL are designed to be easy to land so it is not more "micro heavy" in anyway.
