Sensors need to be CLEANED, there is four by the bumper and one for each wheel. If a sensor gets dirty Roomba thinks there's something blocking it's path and circling trying to find a clearing.
The bumper sensors are defective. I replaced them in my roomba and it fixed the problem. The unit will need to be taken apart to replace the sensors. You can get a complete bumper and cliff sensor harness or the circuit boards inside the bumper sensors.
Mine does the same thing, I think it is dirt on a sensor related. My waranty is void because I took it apart and the company is of no assistance, their advice was lame, blow it out with air, it didnt work. I will continue to do more like check all three wheel sensors.
Order a repair kit from EESolutions.ca.

I had the same problem. I ordered a kit from eesolutions.ca. Only costs like 20 bucks. Had mine working the day I got the kit.

You can repair the issue by purchasing 2 IR LEDs for the bumper optical. Parts are on ebay. Search for Cliff Sensor Repair Kit.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I hope it's just dirt. I'm glad I found this video anyway.
