Torchwood is like amazing. i love how it's more CSI and they can have blood and swearing thats no in doctor who. i really did want gwen and jack to get together and that really kept me watching but i understand why they didn't. i love how ianto really stepped up, he was really cute and funny. his death sucked. and i also love the connections back to doctor who, how jack really got his own path and told his story and how it connected back to the doctor.

i know to watch 60s 70s 80s doctor who might feel that youve got to grit your teeth against the unsophisticated BBC effects dept. but like millions of other people you might just fine it fun to fine the Doctor from twenty-thirty years ago. There is no romantic intrigue, but the doctor's still there as the mad, heroic character. If there was one story i would suggest you watch, would be the brilliant "Talons of Weng-Chiang" watch out fot the legends that are jago and Prof Litefoot.

I think The Doctor will find Jack (or vice versa) and they'll have fun and shennanigans, obviously on DT's regeneration episode (sob!) and then The Doctor will take Jack back to Torchwood when it's all over. In CoE Jack mentioned Martha being on her honeymoon, and saying what an inappropriate time it was, so I'm guessing Martha's in Torchwood; they'll be a random excuse for Mickey to come back, & this may be fangirl denial, but I do think Ianto will come back as well!

I know this is kinda random... but I think that if RTD is gonna bring anyone back from the dead for TW Series 4...it's gonna be Owen.

Cause we never actually SAW him die and I imagine if he somehow got out of the nuclear power station...he'd have to stay away from everybody cause he'd be giving off radioactive energy or something. LOL

Plus when Jack's leaving Earth at one point you can hear Owen's theme in the background...which kinda makes me think he's coming back. LOL

i believe Jack just needs to let off some steam. He had to deal with the stupidity of the human race and in dealing with that his partner died. So I think the next season will start with him heading back to earth and greeting Gwen. Or I think the season will start off with a disaster and gwen is trying to deal with it by herself and then jack comes at the last minute to save the day. I would really like to see Mickey in Torchwood i was hoping to see him in season 3 but he wasn't there.

They're claiming on a lot of the internet (including wikipedia) Rose and Jack might be back for End of Time, so Jack might not have left forever like the last COT episode suggested. So we have Jack and Gwen, then we drag Martha back, come up with a reason why we can have Mickey but he wasn't in the last season, and we could have an almost full cast. sorry. the quick point i wanted to make was Torchwood COE was brilliant. Unlike any mini series i have ever seen before. In the way it was set up, played with and pitched at us. For example, in the end was Frobisher good, bad, coward, hero, loving father or ... just a bullied little man (Peter Capaldi Brilliant!!!). And of course Torchwood will be back and with Captain Jack et al. and Kayley... you are looking very cute.

I have just read all the comments and Freakishlemon really pissed me off. RTD is one of Britains finest screen writers we have ever had. please... he doesn't need your suggestions or advice. He has a proven track record of brilliant, unique thought provoking drama. Like RTD said Drama is not a democracy. Maybe he just thought he was writing for an adult audience who could deal with love, courage & self sacrifice. If you want happy endings & everyone to be alive at the end watch sesame street.

Owen was amazing. And so fraking gorgeous, oh my god. Rhys grew on me a lot this season too. Before he was just kind of a background character but in these 5 episodes he was funny and lovable. I liked Ianto, but he wasnt really my favorite character... I was heartbroken when he died though.

I think they'll bring back Gwen. Hopefully they leave out that new woman they introduced (forgot the name), because she really got on my nerves.

I hated Owen the first season. I've seriously never disliked a character more than I disliked Owen. He got better in the second season, though.

I watched CoE a while ago, and yeah, still upset over Ianto. But I do think CoE was a fantastic series overall, even if I don't think I can ever forgive Jack for what he did to Stephen.

Hopefully, Jack will redeem himself somehow, get over his angst/sorrow, and then go running back to Gwen for Season 4. I want Rhys being a full-time part of the team.

I have a theory , that jack will come back but it will be a diffrent jack ... becaus ethey found only his head shoulder and a leg i think so the rest of him may have grew into another jack who could make a new team etc .. and it may mean that the new jack will be on a revenge hunt for the old jack for killing his grandson ... wierd i know but that would be awesome and it seems plausable

I watched CoE along with the British viewers when it first came out over a month ago and trust me, it doesn't hold up. For about a week, I thought it was great (save for the whole Ianto dying bit), but I can't even think about it without being angry about the glaring characterization crap.

And frankly, Russell T. Davies has been a dick about the fan response to Ianto's death, so that's not endearing me to CoE at all.

Don't know if you've heard, but there is a Save Ianto Jones campaign. :D

I watched Children of Earth with my sister, which was luckily on in Australia at the same time as the UK, and my mum only saw the last episode and she just commented on how heartbreaking it was.

My sister did mention that they had Jack leave because if the series did badly it was going to be cancelled, but since it rated so well I'm going to hope/assume that he comes back.

There are a few possibilities for the future of Torchwood:

1) No more Torchwood. It seems like they were trying to bring the show to a close, in a way. Buuuut knowing writers, somebody won't be able to leave the idea alone, so option #1 is out. It may take some time before we see Torchwood again, but SOMEBODY is going to want to continue it.

2) You pointed out how badass Gwen was. This badassery now firmly established, I think Gwen could hold her own as the central leader-type character of a new team. The door is still open for Martha and Mickey to join the team, too (they were only absent, recently, due to the actors having other commitments). It would take better writing - much as I love Jack, he's become the Wolverine of Whoniverse writing. A deus ex machina. A mysterious, unkillable ball of cool providing a last-minute loophole.

In short: Jack, sadly, became an easy tool for cheap writing. Aaand random nude shots. That can still prove a good, entertaining, engaging and all-around quite awesome...but there's no doubt that the writing will have to amp up if they pursue a Jack-less Torchwood series.

3) Finally, the oft-used, ever-popular, bring-back-the-mysterious-unki­llable-ball-of-cool-just-when-­he's-needed-most route. Nothing like a good, easy loophole when your characters are up against the wall, right? :-D

I tend to think option #3 will most likely be used, though I'd love to see option #2 last as long as possible before #3 is implemented. Gwen has proven herself tough, capable, badass and interesting. I say let her shine for a while without the distraction of the charming, immortal beefcake.

As a side-note, it's entirely possible they only had Jack leave to set up whatever role (small or large) he'll play in the Doctor's forthcoming adventure/regeneration. If so, they may well end with him going right back to Torchwood...again, though, I hope not. Let his character reflect and heal for a while. Possibly also brood.

I JUST finished Children of Earth on Tuesday, and OMG... I got spoiled for Ianto, but still... the entire special was BADASS. They really went there with the whole "government taking children away from their families" plotline. It shocked me a little bit -- especially the end with Jack. I felt so horrible for him. Torchwood just knows how to always crush my heart into tiny pieces. S2 of Torchwood was one of the best seasons of TV I've probably ever watched I think.

One of the best scenes in the series is when Gwen says to Ryse "I would marry you even if weevils crawl out of the sewers on St. Mary's street!" I just loved that! I pretty much agree with what you said too. :)

I heard that they (the producers) ended Torchwood because John Barrowman was starting to age and his character isn't supposed to. I hope it keeps going though! If it did I think they'd have to start over with totally new characters at a new hub, because that was destroyed too!

Well, they could bring in Lois Habiba (sp?). She wasn't my favorite character, but she's definitely brave enough.

For a second, my crazy mind thought another-Doctor-Who-crossover and suggested Donna as a member of Torchwood (since we know she's going to be in DW again, somehow), but as much as I love her, she doesn't have the right personality. She can be really forceful when she needs to, but I don't think she could handle what Torchwood goes through.

I really liked Children of Earth even though it was heartbreaking. I hope that Capt. Jack comes back! Reese should become a permanete member of Torchwood because he is great. Hopefully they bring back more people? Maybe Martha Jones? I haven't seen Doctor Who in a while so she may be dead/lost her memory...hahaha. I felt Tosh's death the most. Maybe because she was overlooked so often. Her little goodbye video after she died had me sobbing really embarassingly.

They ended COE really cleanly. I mean, Jack could come back, and then the new season could circle around the conflict of Gwen trying to raise a kid while fighting aliens and Jack dealing with Ianto's death and all. Maybe some new cool characters, too.
