  • you should check out the 1/220 version

  • I really like how this looks! Even in SD, the Deep Striker looks amazing.

For washes, I heard that using an enamel wash over acrylic works well too, though I guess it does depend on the grooves and the finish on the paint already there (flat/gloss). I have the same problem as you, with the white turning a little darker. Then I stare at it a little longer and it looks like I tried to shade it! ; )

I can't wait to try out my own resin kit. I'm leaning towards the head displays though.

  • @ArcturusEX Enamel over acrylic should work, but it's always best to do these in order: enamel over lacquer, acrylic over lacquer or enamel. But I guess enamel over acrylic is ok. Just never do lacquer over either. :) It's too strong. hehe

  • @Gomenchaiii Hm. I use enamel on top because it takes longer to dry and therefore easier to clean up. But yeah, lacquer is way too strong for anything ; P

  • Is it possible to panel line with a fine pen on painted resin? Does it not show up as well? On actual plastic kits (ive done a few perfect grades and some MG including EX-S Gundam), I would airbrush and panel line with a fine pen. If the pen bleeds (which it rarely does) you can use a hobby knife to very lightly scrape it then dry brush to smooth. Just received this kit so im looking at my options. I am going to use photo paper for the eyes which is what I think the picture shows on the kit.

  • @Lootologist I have never used a pen on painted kits before so I'm not sure how it's going to turn out. On plastic with gundam markers, they work great. But I'm just not sure how the paint on the kit will react to the ink in the pen.

  • congrats on completing this kit kibo. love how it turned out

  • came out very nice, i like it.

  • Every custom kit is going to have it's little flaws here and there. This is still an amazing show of skill and patience.

    Bravo!

Wonder what your next project will be... ;)

  • @crapmunky99 The FA Unicorn, remember? ;D

  • @Gomenchaiii

    Oh yeah!

    *smacks side of head*

I've been really forgetful about stuff lately.

Chalk it up to school, I guess... :-\

  • Looks really great Kibo! In retrospect it's probably a great idea that you finished working on this before you went on to your other Resins. Better to mess up on an sd then on a Full armor conversion!

  • @cadderly Trudat! Still need to learn how to mask. :D

  • very impressive Kibo, I am currently working on a resin kit of my own and I can only hope to match your skill

  • @jabman025 Which resin are you working? I'm sure once it's done, it'll look great!

  • Congratulations on the finish. And your 1st resin build even. Hope to see more from you. Enjoy the hobby. :D

  • @wewyllenium Thanks! ^_^

  • Properly done. Looks like you really enjoyed the build and finish. Congratulations.

Hope to see more from you.

  • it's a nice kit, but resin in general appears to be a lot of extra work from all the different reviews I've seen.

  • It looks soo beautiful! Eye-candy ^^

Great color combination, nice detailing, great decal placement!

the uneven color spots are only a problem if you use magnifying glasses. But who does?

I wish the results on my first resin kit will be as good.

  • @lhasarus If you ever do a resin, I'm sure it's amazing. I'm sure of it since you've already done a lot of amazing customs. ^_^

  • hmmm. i may have to attempt to build this...

  • @00gundamreviews If you check e2046, they've got a lot of nice SD resins. :D

  • it came out sick, especially the head. you should check, if you like the look of using hologram stickers for the eyes and cameras. you did awesome for your first try.

  • @SeniorAntonio I do have some hologram stuff and some hologram sprays, but somehow I wanted a metallic blue green for the eyes on this kit. :D

  • @Gomenchaiii

this is the first time i heard about hologram sprays . can you review it. that's something different, that im interested in seeing

  • @SeniorAntonio Yea, I can make a quick vid. Those sprays were really mean for RC cars, but I picked it up when I bought my spazstix. It's not that great though since it needs direct sunlight to see the full effect.

  • lazy modelers FTW!! ...no seriously... if you hadnt taken as much time as you did on this kit i dont know if itll look as good as it does right now... for your first resin kit project id have to give props

i still have to grow some balls before i can actually tackle a resin kit... i just havent cared much for them enough to want to look out for a particular resin kit i want to work with

  • @zversus Resin seems scary at first, but if you paint your models and you get a good recast, it's just like any other models. ^_^ Except you use superglue more often. :D

  • Kibo if you wanna see slow work look at where my F90 is at...........step 1 D=

  • I love you - I Lied - o.o - Kidding - <3

  • Did you airspray, air brush or handpaint?

  • @EPICMENA The red on the body and shoulder is spray painted, then handpaint to detail. The other part that's spray painted is the neck area when I mentioned camel yellow, and the white base are all spray paint. Everything else is hand painted including the black.

  • Not half bad for your first time work!!!! Nice!!!

  • Wow! looks great Kibo! thanks for sharing!!!! talennnttttttttttttttt

  • really nice job!

  • Its so cute and yet its so badass!! :D

  • Brilliant work kibo, it was worth every second you spent in it. The scheme looks excellent and the detailing is perfect. I love it!!

So now that you have our first resin kit sucessfully completed, will you be building another in the near future.

    BTW, was the kit expensive?

  • @tc012009 Well, my Z II is still partially done...it's going very very slowly because it requires so much fixing. lol. The kit was around $42 I think from tatsuhobby. But the amount of details it has, I think it's worth it. Just wished the casting was slightly better because I'm not that good at cleaning and fixing the resin. ^_^

  • @Gomenchaiii Even though this is your first complete resin kit, it looks freakin amazing. It's probably better than anything I can do with any GunPla kit. I have a question though. If I were to go with Rustoleum or Kyrlon for spray painting regular GunPla kits, exactly which one/type would you buy? At the moment I buy Tamiya TS spray paints and they seem to be very high quality, but they are pretty expensive at about $5 each (before shipping) ofr such a small can.

  • @suiton629 I actually have some Tamiya TS, Rustoleum, and Krylon. I just go with the color I want and it's not dependent on Rustoleum or Krylon. Ofcourse if both has the same color, I pick the cheaper one.

  • what did u use to attach the resin together?

  • @buwaneka66 Super glue. :)

  • Wow. Still looks impressive kibo. Nicely done. Now if ever bandai make an anime of Gundam Sentinel. SD EX-S Gundam and SD Deep Striker will be announced :D

    FAVORITE!
