I hear redistribution is popular where Ellis is from.
@Remington61189 Ha ha, sorry. You don't get a lot of good acting in animation. But in the comics he's an Australian national. In my head he always sounded like Vernon Wells from The Road Warrior(Mad Max 2). But now I'd probably use a different actor.
And just remember.....Scarlet did not choose Duke, Warren Ellis pimped her out to Duke. In the Hama comics there are no lame love triangles, it's Scarlett/Snake Eyes and nothing else. Duke is pretty much a career bachelor.

It was just a move made for the convenience of TV producers who wanted to sell airtime for toy commercials. The Sunbow cartoon has about as much in common with GI JOE as Superfriends had with the Justice League.

He and Scarlett are on a beach enjoying some R and R when he hears a report on how Stalker and a team of JOE's were captured in foriegn country. This was before Snake Eyes had his face surgically repaired. Snake Eyes' face wasn't scarred in Vietnam; it happend when he saved Scareltt's life in a helicopter accident(explosion) in the middle east when she was trapped in her harness and he cut her free.

And I think that was after Larry Hama brought Cobra Commander back after they "killed" him in the cartoon. His son was Billy, and he took him to one of the Crimson Guard agents(Fred VII. the guy with the hawks) to have a prosthetic leg made for Billy after he lost it in an attempt on his life; and a new suit of battle armor for himself.
I just looked at #93 called"top Secret" and its the first showing of his face. Even though I have an earlier one called "Unmasking" of CC and Destro and snake eyes but its all masks. Is #93 the first issue (he has a real scared up face going for surgery with scarlet)

In the entire 30 year history of the comics, Scarlett has only been with Snake Eyes and they are canon. She barely interacted with Duke in the comics. The Duke/Scarlett thing doesn't exist anywhere in the comics; it's a creation of the Sunbow cartoon's tampering with the storyline to make it "convenient" for the animators to work with in the happy meal 80's era.

Hate to say but the reason why we all find the show past,present and future so endearing is because of the villians and Cobra Commander is the star! Don't see him too much in these versions, so don't watch it much. I don't mind the way he's portrayed now just whish they would keep some of the features, mainly the chrome mask.
I love this series. Sure, it isn't like the comic, but at least they're not shooting lasers and such as in the other cartoons; automatic weapons kick ass!. I like that these Joes can actually be hurt and aren't invincible; Snake Eyes nothwithstanding :) I just see this as another take on G.I. Joe and that's it. Nothing to get bent out of shape over. Just enjoy the show people and quit nitpicking everything!

The closest they did get was in the first Joe cartoon waaaay back in the early 80's and even then they skirted the issue by having Scarlett and Snake Eyes putting their hands on the glass that separated them. I think even today writers don't think that those of us who know the material are sophiticated enough to accept their relationship.
From 3:38 to 3:50 is not the Scarlett I remember from the comics. As I recall, Scarlett something similar to Snake Eyes in issue #94 when the Baroness' agents were trying kidnap him from the hospital where he was recovering from facial surgery. Scarlett held off the Cobra agents by herself, telling Snake Eyes she loved him and refusing to leave him. It ended with Baroness putting a bullet in Scarlett's head and kidnapping Snake Eyes. Warren Ellis ruined Scarlett. See why comic fans hate Duke?
Now we know how they're (Cobra) is financing all this....with crappy weapons! The bullets must ricochet in the chamber (gun) and end up shooting at a 30 degree angle. What other way can this 5-feet-away-and-can't-hit-someone crap be explained?
@oldschool4real69 Uhh, no they weren't. The comics came first, and Snake Eyes and Scarlett were always together since day one, and have been inseperable for the last 30 years. The Duke/Scarlett thing was only in the 80's Sunbow cartoon which came later, and you'll notice that Duke never acted like a guy in a relationship. He flirted with Selena in 'The M.A.S.S. Device' storyline, kissed Covergirl, and Scarlett was phased out by season 2 after only 29 episodes, while Duke remained alone.

In the current IDW continutiy which picks up where the Marvel comic series left off, there's a scene where Duke punches out Zartan, who has disguised himself as Snake Eyes. When asked how he knew it wasn't the real Snake Eyes, Duke's response is, "Snake Eyes would never leave Scarlett in a tight situation. I just verified it by getting past his defenses to slug him out. No way I could do that to the real Snakester." See? In the comics, even Duke gets that Scarlett is with Snake Eyes.
This segment must have been a nod, wink, smile and a blown kiss to the 80's. At some point, you have to be thinking... "okay, maybe they have on some special gear. No? Just... regular flesh and blood... out in the open? they haven't hit them...? with automatic weapons? Still? Really??? You sure those aren't androids of Duke and Scarlett?" It's amazing how much damage the Sunbow cartoon did to the Snake Eyes/Scarlett romance, considering it only ran for two seasons, and Scarlett was only in 29 out of the 77 episodes that aired. Snake Eyes and Scarlett have been a couple in the comics for a quarter-century now, and yet "Resolute" still paired her with Duke instead. Why? The Duke relationship doesn't exist at all in the comics, and shouldn't her relationship with Snake Eyes be respected, since it has stood the test of time?
Why does it matter? The company Sunbow, DIC and this one see it as a better fit. Understand society today all the girls end up with either " THE BAD BOYS " or end up with the big football stud or the most popular guy. Get over it it SICKS YES but thats how it is.
They don't see it as a "better fit", just an easier and more convenient one for them because Snake Eyes can't talk. It's not about bad boys vs. popular jocks, and anyone who read the comics would know that. Snake Eyes is the tragic hero of GI JOE, and Scarlett is like Isolde to his Tristan, Brynnhilde to his Sigurd, Juliet to his Romeo, or Beauty to his Beast. The Duke thing was a shallow cartoon pairing that only lasted 29 episodes; She and Snake Eyes have been together 25 years in the comic.

Yep! Snake Eyes is a pretty boy, but the scar gives him that bad-ass look. It took a while, but he and Scarlett got the happy ending. The comics got it right.
Actually, Snake Eyes is no longer difigured. In the late 80's the comics had him undergo experimental reconstructive surgery in Europe to repair his face. The Baroness paid his doctor to set him and Scarlett up for an ambush after the surgery was completed because she believed that Snake Eyes had killed her brother. Scarlett took a bullet and fell into a coma trying to protect him. He looks good now; blonde, blue eyed, and a single diagonal scar running across his face. Scarlett's his fiance.
Especially when you consider that the Snake Eyes/Scarlett relationship is the one with all the history, depth, and substance. He actually took a dive when they met during martial arts training so the other recruits would respect her after defeating him. He saved her from a helicopter crash which scarred his face and damaged his vocal chords, yet she loved him despite his appearence. They both complement each other so perfectly in the comics that putting her with Duke or anyone else is an insult!
Scarlett's been with Snake Eyes in the comics from the very beginning, but the creators of the Sunbow cartoon in the 80's didn't want to work around Snake eyes inability to speak and felt her romance with him was too complicated for a cartoon aimed at kids, so they put her with Duke in a shallow, cliched screen pairing that had nothing holding it together. Warren Ellis had a chance to correct that mistake with Resolute, but he sold out to coporate interference, which is why I hate adaptations.
Zartan had to do the monologue thing. why cant stop with the cheesy stuff. I mean zartan was cool character did they have to kill him by being destracted with his talk about the past. wow still I like this
well, to be fair, a pistol is a lot easier to aim and hit with, an Machine Gun is more "use enough bullets and hope to hit the target". you want accuracy, you go with pistols or non-automatic rifles
I swear that pistol fight in the beginning with Duke and Scarlett has got to be the best action scene in Resolute...actually its my favorite part...i mean look at it! The way they shoot it already looks bad ass...my only concern is that the cobra soldiers are really bad at aiming...

The closest they did get was in the first Joe cartoon waaaay back in the early 80's and even then they skirted the issue by having Scarlett and Snake Eyes putting their hands on the glass that separated them. I think even today writers don't think that those of us who know the material are sophiticated enough to accept their relationship.

From 3:38 to 3:50 is not the Scarlett I remember from the comics. As I recall, Scarlett something similar to Snake Eyes in issue #94 when the Baroness' agents were trying kidnap him from the hospital where he was recovering from facial surgery. Scarlett held off the Cobra agents by herself, telling Snake Eyes she loved him and refusing to leave him. It ended with Baroness putting a bullet in Scarlett's head and kidnapping Snake Eyes. Warren Ellis ruined Scarlett. See why comic fans hate Duke?

@oldschool4real69 Uhh, no they weren't. The comics came first, and Snake Eyes and Scarlett were always together since day one, and have been inseperable for the last 30 years. The Duke/Scarlett thing was only in the 80's Sunbow cartoon which came later, and you'll notice that Duke never acted like a guy in a relationship. He flirted with Selena in 'The M.A.S.S. Device' storyline, kissed Covergirl, and Scarlett was phased out by season 2 after only 29 episodes, while Duke remained alone.

In the current IDW continutiy which picks up where the Marvel comic series left off, there's a scene where Duke punches out Zartan, who has disguised himself as Snake Eyes. When asked how he knew it wasn't the real Snake Eyes, Duke's response is, "Snake Eyes would never leave Scarlett in a tight situation. I just verified it by getting past his defenses to slug him out. No way I could do that to the real Snakester." See? In the comics, even Duke gets that Scarlett is with Snake Eyes.

@JohnBuckStrange Considering that Larry Hama created the Snake Eyes/Scarlett romance, and that Hama himself is an actual Vietnam veteran with military experience, I don't believe Snake Eyes/Scarlett fans have to "man up" at all! And if you read the comics, Scarlett makes it clear to her teamates that she is the only thing Snake Eyes has left in his life after the death of his family. Don't believe what you see in this cartoon. Respect to Larry Hama!

Cobra kills all of the joes, except for snake eyes of course cuz he is a bad ass, and takes over the world. Snake eyes then kills all of cobra, cuz he is a million times better than chuck norris (lol that seemed funnier in my head), making the movie last approx 10 minutes lol

It's amazing how much damage the Sunbow cartoon did to the Snake Eyes/Scarlett romance, considering it only ran for two seasons, and Scarlett was only in 29 out of the 77 episodes that aired. Snake Eyes and Scarlett have been a couple in the comics for a quarter-century now, and yet "Resolute" still paired her with Duke instead. Why? The Duke relationship doesn't exist at all in the comics, and shouldn't her relationship with Snake Eyes be respected, since it has stood the test of time?

They don't see it as a "better fit", just an easier and more convenient one for them because Snake Eyes can't talk. It's not about bad boys vs. popular jocks, and anyone who read the comics would know that. Snake Eyes is the tragic hero of GI JOE, and Scarlett is like Isolde to his Tristan, Brynnhilde to his Sigurd, Juliet to his Romeo, or Beauty to his Beast. The Duke thing was a shallow cartoon pairing that only lasted 29 episodes; She and Snake Eyes have been together 25 years in the comic.

Actually, Snake Eyes is no longer difigured. In the late 80's the comics had him undergo experimental reconstructive surgery in Europe to repair his face. The Baroness paid his doctor to set him and Scarlett up for an ambush after the surgery was completed because she believed that Snake Eyes had killed her brother. Scarlett took a bullet and fell into a coma trying to protect him. He looks good now; blonde, blue eyed, and a single diagonal scar running across his face. Scarlett's his fiance.

Especially when you consider that the Snake Eyes/Scarlett relationship is the one with all the history, depth, and substance. He actually took a dive when they met during martial arts training so the other recruits would respect her after defeating him. He saved her from a helicopter crash which scarred his face and damaged his vocal chords, yet she loved him despite his appearence. They both complement each other so perfectly in the comics that putting her with Duke or anyone else is an insult!

Scarlett's been with Snake Eyes in the comics from the very beginning, but the creators of the Sunbow cartoon in the 80's didn't want to work around Snake eyes inability to speak and felt her romance with him was too complicated for a cartoon aimed at kids, so they put her with Duke in a shallow, cliched screen pairing that had nothing holding it together. Warren Ellis had a chance to correct that mistake with Resolute, but he sold out to coporate interference, which is why I hate adaptations.
