@yarnover Wax begonia is the common name for semperflorens, which is one of the American Begonia Society's eight classifications of the genus. Several of the other 8 classifications are also fibrous rooted, such as cane-like, rhizomatous, shrub-like, as so forth. It's one way of organizing a very large and diverse genus.
To keep them vigorous, just keep the solo just a little moisture.

What you call "fibrous-rooted" are semperflorens, or wax begonias.
