  • I can hear Cedric's influence in his voice o.o

  • I beg Omar to sing more often in the Mars Volta.

  • How can he be so perfect? *-*

  • Brilliant

  • dont listen to this stoned or on any drug...its very dangerous, im serious

  • @Kakaxxx222 haha , try nurse with wound on acid , thats damn good

  • can anyone massage me the english lyrics to this? much love....

  • Ducle

  • Para qué drogarme si tengo esto :=)

  • intelligence has nothing to do with taste in music

  • this album is so different from his other stuff..like channelled music. in a way, creepy.

  • 10 People simply cannot handle artistic genius from the mind of Omar.

You must forget that he is the composer of it all, his bandmates simply enact his will.

  • @Crimson66 Not true, listen to more recent interviews. Deatoni P. has put quite a lot in on the next record. Omar doesnt want to be a dictator anymore.

  • la respuesta latiana a can,faust..space rock latino

  • @chuchorrichi secundo carnal

  • Alright, before I watched this video i had crumbled up weed on my table the size of a fist ..... and now all of a sudden it's gone. I don't even remember smoking.

  • To be honest, I almost like the other projects of Omar Rodriguez more than the Mars Volta now. So good.

  • @ZachHale8 @ZachHale8 ::see top commeent:: this music is "simplified" compared to the mars volta. thats a fact. just pay attention to the types and amount of instruments

  • @federic0 Well that's true is comparison to Bedlam, but I think that Octahedron has a lot more "simplified" music. I think a lot of ideas that were very large have just become more concise in these albums. It depends on the album as well, because some earlier Omar Rodriguez albums (not Volta) are pretty complex as well. Guess it's not good to make generalized comments haha.

  • Why do people think that it takes drugs to give you a different perspective and output in life and music? Don't get me wrong, if I had the money and connections, I would probably be some kind of half baked psychedelic adventure, but that doesn't mean that's what it takes to be remotely weird.

  • @FondlingReply Cause all the people we look up too as stars. Mostly do drugs.

  • Its like LSD.. I never used it.. but it's the same I guess.. Fuck.. This has some right frequencies that stucked my brain.......

  • @Luckzzz use it, its very well... hawaiian baby woodrose is better, and look at the sky please, oh..

  • He is tripping HARD!

  • @xTomei naturally....!

  • Comment Rating Drama lulz.

  • @Noyd376 no dramma jus speakin the mind

  • alguien que me pase la letra porfavor-.....

  • This stuff is awesome! Reminds me of Miles Davis when he got real deep in the ju-ju-juice.

  • @soderify voz horrible?

  • dont laugh. it reminds me of BURZUM sometimes. dont know why). very cool!

  • @coubensis Hahahaha, I can see what you mean. It doesn't sound like most Burzum but it is reminiscent of some of the more ambient stuff like Dunkelheit.

  • omar is like the portorican version of jimi hendrix

  • OMAR COMPONE PARA EL NO PARA USTEDES ASI QUE DEJENSE DE JODER USTEDES.

  • Cool colors. Shitty music. And before you reply "Go back to your Lady Gaga, closed minded tool!", you should know I'm a big prog fan. Henry Cow, Mahavishnu, King Crimson, Egg all blow my mind away but I just don't get The Mars Volta or Omar at all.

  • @Tengent That´s because The Mars Volta is for intelligent people, real artists of life, it´s ok! Shit happens.

  • @angelcede88 You may as well have copy and pasted one of those high rated comments on any classic rock video here on Youtube, something like "this is REAL music, not that shit they play on the radio these days!!" Musical nationalism pops up everywhere, goddammit.

  • @Tengent no dude, it's all about going BEYOND. I don´t need to copy no one, in fact, it's more likely for people to copy me. Sorry but's that the way it is. You need to feel and hear, not just to watch. This is something weird (the video and song). Enjoy!

  • @angelcede88 I'll listen to Henry Cow if I want to hear something weird. <_<

  • @Tengent nothing like PRIMUS hahahahah those guys are not well in their heads hahahahah

  • @Tengent You sound like a fucken transvestite swamp donkey witch

  • @inshallowDEPTHS2107 How did you realize that? And if I do, that's fine because my opinion is clearly expressed, though many readers assume I'm some sort of ignorant pop listener since the highest rated comment is directed towards me.

  • @Tengent you don't like the music we like, so obviously, your intelligence is inferior to ours. that's how music works, duh.

  • @angelcede88 or people who like the kind of music they make. Comments like this are so fucking stupid. Anyone with an even tiny understanding of art knows that not everyone likes everything, and that is fine.

  • @Tengent hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @Tengent I would consider the Mahavishnu Orchestra "Jazz Fusion" rather than prog-rock, and as far as Volta goes, well theyre just like King Crimson and Pink floyd....on amphetamines.

  • @Tengent avant garde is hard to get into. it's an acquired taste.

  • @BAMeynig Uhm, I love John Cage, Pierre Boulez, Olivier Messiaen, Frank Zappa, Gentle Giant, Henry Cow, Kayo Dot, and other "avant-garde" labeled artists. They created adventurous, beautiful music. This is boring. Nearly six minutes of bland repetitious psychedelic atmosphere with fucking sound effects. Careful With That Axe, Eugene with ugly timbre and no thought of dynamic contrast. If you like it, neat!

  • nine people is gay

  • que genio!!

  • Lyrics ?

  • omar's grammy every time the camera focus goes on deantoni! ^_^

  • @mosesh06 good eye!

  • @jessy8281 MALDITO ENGENDRO TU QUE SABES DE MÚSICA BASTARDO

  • @jessy8281 MALDITO ENGENDRO TU QUE SABES DE MÚSICA BASTARDO

  • @Witchcrownedwithweed pobre tu abuela !jaja

  • the back round noise is awesome.

  • This whole album is great

  • i wonder if it's sad to be close-minded.. you aren't feeling and experimenting half the things you could.. but at the same time you don't really know they exist..

  • +500 points if u write the lyrics !

  • u cant understand shit !!!!!!!!

this is why i prefer to listen to metallica, steve vai, joe satriani, matt o'ree

  • @gabychilo Pleeeease. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez > Joe Satriani. At least Omar doesn't spam us with crappy instrumental albums every fucking day like Joe and Buckethead do.

  • @mattymonster666 u dont know shit about music this is way beyond crappy this equals shit but it's my opinion not urs jajajaja

  • @gabychilo I wouldn't have expected any less of a response from a Metallica fan. So drunk on your 'jockiness' that you still think 'metal up yer ass' is actually a rather intelligent catchcry. Metallica are not relevant anymore, Omar is. Metallica haven't even been relevant since the 90s, when they sold out. Omar and The Mars Volta have never sold out. You said it right: "It's just your opinion." That's true...but opinions can be right or wrong - and yours is definitely wrong.

  • @mattymonster666 Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. and If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.jajajjajajajajaja you listen to this crap i dont really care for this project hes doing jajaja

  • @gabychilo That analogy was as generic as Metallica's "riffs".

  • @californication1992 Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. tell that to omar with his music or his solo projest jajajajajajaja

  • @gabychilo That was better. Nevertheless, the fact that you limit yourself to Metallica refutes the power of that metaphor. What you just said only applies to Metallica becasue of the conventional, commercial mindset they have when they make music; not wisdom. Omar doesn't limit himself and will "put tomatoes in a fruit salad" if he feels necessary because music is one of his many passions. Think about that the next time you find yourself in the sweaty sausage fest that is a Metallica concert.

  • @californication1992 what i said applies to you and ur right metallica does sell out ... every seat in the house as to omar you cant really say that but y argue over if metallica is shittier than omar after all record sales show you the results so there you have it nice arguing for a bit here on you tube :)

  • @gabychilo Really? That's your rebuttal? So according to you, high record sales make their music inherently good? You must also listen to Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Omar's work is avant-garde and aesthetically incredible, you just can't appreciate something that isn't yelled by the cowardly lion (aka James Hetfield). It's ok :) Some people just cannot accept what their minds cannot comprehend. Be a good boy and have yourself a cookie :)

  • @californication1992 i thin k lady gaga is ur mom jajajaja as i said im done arguing but fine by me i can go with this everyday and i think cookie monster is ur dad jajaja that explains y u like shit like this jajaja omar doesnt compare with steve vai satriani steveie ray vaughn or metallica cause hes shit just like ur mom gaga n daddy cookie monster but you already know that no matter what you say omar doesnt compare with te greats or the legends like hendrix and zepplin jajajaja deal with it!

  • @gabychilo Dude your life is a fail. You can keep arguing? That was NOT arguing, that was the response of a 6 year old throwing a fit. I also checked out your profile. Masked wrestling???? Are you fucking serious??You MUST be 6 because no adult in their right mind would watch that shit. It's no wonder you also listen to Metallica. This doesn't even concern Omar's greatness anymore. You're just a wimpy kid hiding behind a computer who thinks his music is the best because they "play fast" Get a life.

  • @californication1992 shure it is thats why im sure i make more money than you every year i have my own house my lovely wife 2 kids ur a idiot whi doesnt know about music whatecer i wanna watch listen to its my choice not urs ur still another yt a-hole but i can go all day keep em coming jajajajaja *get a life loser* stop listening to this shit for your own good jajajajajaja

  • @gabychilo Honestly dude, this is making me feel really embarrased for you. That last comment is enough for everyone on YouTube to laugh at you. I feel sorry for your kids. They have a father who likes masked wrestling and argues with a college student on YouTube. By the way, your english is atrocious, it's "haha", not "jaja" You're just some sort of ignorant Hispanic who refuses to learn proper english and makes the rest of us look bad. I am not going to reply to anymore of your nonsense.

  • @californication1992the red hot chilli pussy i aint american jajajaja u piece of shit keep on going im only embarrassing you more i can go all day all night boy jajajajaja another and thank you for seeing my channel really appreciated thanks actually americans are stupid jajajajaja your the racists ones ur the ones that slaved black ppl thank to u americans we have red necks so keep on goin son cuz u aint got shit

  • @gabychilo well you appeared bright until I heard you speak...first of all it's 'ha ha' not 'ja ja' - J is next to the H. An easy mistake to make for someone in the early stages of learning how to touch type and doesn't read back what the fuck they've just written. Secondly Omar makes music because he 'loves it.' Metallica don't 'love' music - all they care about is how much they get paid at the end of the day. The Some Kind of Monster doco and Lars Napster rant prove this. It's all about the $

  • @mattymonster666 im not american hispanics type jaja instead of haha so not a mistake metallica loves music and of course every needs to know how much theyre getting paid for every job so its common sense whether you love it or u get paid ur still making music thats the point and hey its always been about the money if not then there wouldnt be business :)

  • could someone send me those lyrics? I can't find theme

  • @ellconsuelo Mira, I am south of the border, aiming north past the fence, Balas sounds right to me ok!

  • Me gusta mucho The Mars Volta, Adoro a Cedric, [So fucking hot!!!!

  • Hope DEantoni becomes a Volta member

  • @enriquemaravilla

    well he already is!

  • where can i find lyrics of this

  • Trippy.

  • Listening for this track 5th time in a row...

    ...addictive!

  • it looks as if a film by Stan Brakhage is being projected on them.

  • wow, why am i barely hearing about this? fuck

  • where is the I came button?

  • @filaturas

I already came all over it, sorry.

  • @filaturas everyones gotta stop with the i came refrences on youtube

  • @TheCr0wing oh, yes? and why is that?

  • @filaturas bc its annoyingly vile and everyone says it cant we think of a more specific unique better way to describe how somthins good?

  • one of my favs!!!!!

  • I love him but I just can't stand his voice in this song.

  • Omar Is Fucking Legit Man !

  • You're wrong. I said "Christina Aguilera, The Power of Ra and a half of your uploaded videos", and I saw Deep Purple/Hendrix and listened it on your channel :)

Now, if I listen to one of the videos that I mentioned before doesn't evoke emotion or excitement en me, they crossed the "line"? Help me here, because I think that each one of us has their own "line" concerning to music that's what makes us uniques.

  • A bit of reality for you all: This is not creative or exciting. Doing a load of weird noises like this is just boring. I think Omar is THE most innovative guitarist of our time, but there's a line.

  • @Laciiza So, for example, according to your belief, songs like "On the run"/"Time" introduction (Pink Floyd) are just noices? I think that omar experiments with differents ways of guitar playing, different effect mixtures, differents styles, etc. Tell me (I saw your channel) Christina Aguilera, The Power of Ra and a half of your uploaded videos can do that? I don't think so..

I never thought that there's a line in music or art.

  • @Dubinkingston

Basing my entire music preferences on 2 videos I favourited is silly. Did you not see Jimi Hendrix/RHCP/Deep purple/Primal scream etc. also on my faves?

There is a line in music. When it doesn't evoke emotion or excitement in any way.

  • @Laciiza That's like your opinion man, the "line" your talking about is entierly subjective.

  • Comment removed

  • @Laciiza Your opinion. This is one of my favorite songs on the CD, next to mesanje imputante. That thought process you demonstrated is why justin beiber and katy perry are so damn famous, while artists such as cedric are completely underrated.

  • @Laciiza

yeah i'm gonna take that line and strangle you with it.

  • He's gonna be playing at coachella! AND! I CAN'T GO!!! :[ *very sad face*

  • Comment removed

  • I see the grammy! :D

  • el mejor.

  • I wish I'd understand what he was singing. what language is this btw?

  • @xthreadx spanish im sorry, my english SUX, but i tried. . They say they dont own this pain vice is this pain sweet owner of everyone and the color ive lost fill me with the kid that licks the eyes faith tentacles rot the conciousness unintentionally abyss restless for love where he was born the sight derires everything but there's no more fall from heaven again died for the first time ¿why having wings? the sight derires everything but there's no more tentacles of faith bite the tongue
  • @rwsteppenwolf So when it comes to interpreting the lyrics, it doesn't really matter whether or not you can actually speak Spanish, because they make so sense anyway.

  • @xthreadx Spanish

  • Guao0!!! mi tocayo0 es un maestro...nunka me dejara de sorprender este hombre...lo hizo en The Mars Volts, At the drive in...solista...q sigue...

  • @iZeali No you are!

  • This is totally cool.. I wonder what the new Mars Volta will sound like... hopefullly something like this... I really can't wait. I have bought a bunch of Omar's solo and I like them all. Especially the last two... Cizana de los Amores and Xenophanes. I do NOT speak any Spanish, but I don't care Omar, keep making the music for us English speaking folks, we don't mind if it is in Spanish!

  • @Hutchentoot SAME HERE, actually, by listening to his music and to my in-laws I'm actually starting to pick up on spanish! ZENO, CIZANA, & ESCORPION are his best works yet

  • @Hutchentoot BELIEVE ME, NONE OF YOU NON-SPANISH SPEAKING PEOPLE ARE MISSING OUT ON ANYTHING. OMAR'S LYRICS ARE NOTHING BUT GIBBERISH, THEY DONT REALLY MAKE SENSE BUT NO ONE REALLY CARES CAUSE IT SOUNDS GOOD ANYWAY. KIND OF LIKE HOW NO ONE KNOWS THE MEANING OF LIFE OR WHY HUMANS AND ANIMALS EXIST IN THE WORLD...BUT WE ALL JUST KEEP ON LIVING ANYWAY.

  • @mahavishnuxc

thats kinda how i feel about at the drive ins lyrics sometimes. similar??

  • @Hutchentoot If only americans thought like that

  • @Hutchentoot hopefully it wont sound like octahedron...

  • @CrabTreason i wouldnt be worried. i dont think they've ever released two similar sounding albums.

  • @Hutchentoot

he sang in english in his first band "Startled Calf"

  • @k0stil I LOVE BEING TRENDY!

  • @Hutchentoot dude where did u bought those albums?

  • @Hutchentoot The feeling is the same and better ...spanish.....english....almost the lyrics doesn´t meaning...but the music was written in a world language...

  • @Hutchentoot yeah is for everyone

  • @iZeali

I think they're both fantastic. I didn't realize Omar had such a good set of pipes until I started listening to his solo stuff.

  • who care if there sober or not, there making amazing music, and should be worshipped

  • I love that Omar is singing on his albums now. Gives them a whole other dimension of awesomeness.

  • fuck i love this f********king band!!! TMV & ORL band!!!

"calle cielo otra vez muerto por primera vez uh-uh pa' que sirven las alas?"

  • What are drugs.

  • Wow.

  • so is he starting to learn theory now? i heard that when he found out he's never written in a major key before he decided to start studying up a bit. is that true??

  • @canthinkverywell I think he's always known enough theory to get Major and minor Keys, i think he's just reached a point in his life when he finally wants to write in a major key and also has a big enough cult fan base that writing in a major key isn't gonna stop him from selling albums (not that it matter much to him if this album doesn't sell). But he writes songs in 7/8 and 5/4 i think he at least has a basic understanding of musical theory

  • @hjstuckey actually he's straight-up said the opposite in interviews. he said some1 (i think it was john frusciante) had told him that all of his songs are in a minor key and omar wasnt fully aware before that because he didn't understand the theory, and he used to have jon theodore analyze the rhythm, time signatures, etc. of the songs omar wrote because he didnt understand time signatures himself, he still doesn't understand them and said he doesn't know how to properly count Since We've Been

  • @canthinkverywell Wrong and just "counts to 5" between each repeat

  • im trippin balls this is some dope shit

  • Duuuude WHATTTTT THE FUCK IS OMAR ONNNNN! This shit is SO fuckin cool!
