FFVII - Level 5 Tifa vs Midgar Zolom (NMIENA)

Hey garland, just found your vids and you made me take out my old PS1 and FFVII...

I mean, I thought I had already done it all but what the f**k, now I realise I've only done and found like 10% of the stuff the game has to offer :o

Any suggestions for a semi difficult yet reasonable "challenge" to clear the game for someone who spent their youth with these games but never bothered to try any "challenges" like these you are doing?

I'm going to have to call shenanigans on this video because of how fast tifa's time bar fills up. The limit break is only suppose to speed the time up for the next attack alone and none after that. I got to go check this out for myself

@LPfreakGirl7 I think it only uses Beta if you attack the Zolom when he has under 1000 HP. Thats why BIO is such a good weapon against him at lower levels, no Beta.

easiest way to own a midgar zolom is using a tranquilizer and enemy skill, wait till it uses beta, then sass it up! :) easy way to gain beta at around level 14

For those wondering why Zolom did less damage than usual to Tifa, pay attention to the fact that Tifa's got the Sadness status on the menu before the battle. Sadness makes you take less damage than usual. This strategy could possibly also be amplified by putting her (or whatever character is used) into the back row.

For those asking. Beta is a counter attack only used once hp drops below 1500. Since Tifa does not physically attack or cast a spell past the beginning of the battle their isnt anything to counter. Poison sucking the Zolom is an old and proven method to safely kill him. When in doubt and you want to use this method stop attacking him after he stands up ~2500hp. at 2000HP hell counter with the 'knock charecter from battle" move, 1500HP Counters with Beta. Hope this helps.

Errrmmmm ok in the PAL Version of FF7 the Midgar Zolom does over 400 damage with an attack. So in the NTSC version the Midgar Zolom is weaker?

to survive beta you can equip a fire ring that nullifies fire damage...but still i don´t know why beta hasn´t been casted...and i don´t know why midgar zolom does so little damage...usually a normal attack is around 400

Beta has a very specific trigger associated with it. Basically, in order for him to use it-- A.) You have to have had your characters actually attack him. and B.) he has to have knocked at least one character out of battle. Which isn't going to happen if you start the battle with two KOed.

Alot of people have said they can't do it at the start of the game with your party 18-20.

I'm not saying its an easy feat, but the way too do it is too:

1)Get the 'Element' Materia from The mayor in the Shinra building.

2) Have 'Fire2'

3) Link these two up in E.G: Clouds armour.

This mean he wont take damage from beta, leaving you too heal up/kick his ass :)

Just a tip for those wanting 'Beta' at the start of the game :) Its well worth getting, trust me :)

Correction: You need the Elemental Materia to be on level 2 to make Beta harmless. The Fire Materia's level is irrelevant. However, getting the Fire Ring from Costa del Sol is much easier.

Not much impresses me with this game anymore, but this is certainly highly impressive. I also saw a video on here of the low level Cloud and Tifa with no magic and all that stuff smash the final boss. That was probably the most impressive thing I've ever seen in this game, but this is up there.
