  • Very cool! I like to learn some words from other languages but I'm not that good at remembering the words I learn, unless I use them often in conversation. Good job and I hit the LIKE button :-)

  • Thank you for making these videos, Anna. The calligraphy of the alphabet was what initially intrigued me; it's so beautiful and flowy. Outside of Georgian and English (which you have an incredible knack for), do you know any other languages?

  • Like x100. That should cover it... ;-D

  • @melamonastic Thanks! Ya a 100 likes would certainly speed up the process...

  • Dear Annaconda: My course with Lika Baiashvili and Tour with Giorgi Iremashvili when wonderfully and I enjoyed Tbilisi and Saqartvelo very much. Hope you put more videos on. We finished Book one or about 300 pages of Georgian. The hardest thing is the Georgian Verb, so many different classes - 14 in all!

  • @eev24eshmolikali thats awesome...Im thinking of putting more episodes up soon

  • didi madloba

  • @theSpyzzlordboss arapers

  • I am taking course in Georgian in Tbilisi from September 6 to October 5 - that is 29 days the full four week course.

ევა ანნასთასიია ჯაიმს (That was typing directly from my keyboard - something I couldn't do before)

  • @eev24eshmolikali how did your georgian course go by the way?

  • Anna: If the word "tovlis" means "of snow", then why isn't the word "Babua Tovlis" (grandfather of snow)? Can you tell me?

  • @silverpilot1979 tovlis babua is snowman

if you translate both words babua means grandfather and snow means tovli so yea it would be snow grandfather but nobody says that its a snow man... Oh by the way another combination with babua is babuatsvera (translated it means grandfatherbeard and its the name of the blowball)...

  • back pocket :P

  • hahahaha how dumb video ! who doesnt know georgian :)) there is someone on earth who doesnt ? :D

  • @iraklaaaa well there seems to be a huge demand for it? I havent posted them for such a long time and I keep getting messages that I should post more

  • @Annaconda1984 Yeah you should. I taught my kids the fruits and vegetables and letters and then we kind of ran out of material. I made a worksheet to be a puzzle so they had to figure out on their own what the letters were, that was the most fun part for them since it was like a secret code.

  • thankx for ur videos

  • @skripter888 thanks for watching, happy you enjoyed them more coming very soon

  • Didi madloba! I'm learning georgian too before going to Tbilissi next Summer (courses and eksurzije).

  • you should say (explain) that "kudi" means also "tail" :)). diffrent is in pronunciation. many people can't imagine that there are two k. "me matsvia kudi" or "me matsvia khudi"?

  • @MrMamu1 gmadlobt (-:

  • I found some good teaching material on the internet. Google "Ferd'nand".

These are wordless cartoons. I have the students describe the situation trying to use all the important structures. Then I have the students role play the situation.

I've had a lot of success with this. It's the fastest way I've seen to give them a good command of important structures.

This is good material for language exchanges too. It's good for any language.

  • thanx for this! ;)

    u r doing great!

  • why are you doing this ? What do you get out of it?

  • this was a sponsored vid and i made $25 on ir by a private sponsor (-:

when i made my very first teaching georgian video it was not with the intention to actually teach because i don't believe you can learn a language through online videos, it was more to inform because there are so many people who don't know about georgian....

  • @Nissy0007 yea im georgian n i dont even know y is she doing this.... realy sad :( lol

  • @mgvdliashvili Have you ever considered the simple fact that she's doing nothing than trying to introduce outsiders to what looks like a beautiful language? Truly, I don't believe she has an ulterior motive.

  • უფალო, შეგვიწყალე

  • "Чемодан"

  • You are so, so beautiful. In many ways.

I can't remember the last time I daydreamed about being married. Are you a good cook?

  • (-: me? LOL thanx

i dunno if im a good cook (-: ask the person who eats the food i guess...i do have one or two cooking/baking videos up though...you could check those out, the recipes are fast to make with yummy results

  • So I'll have to do most of the cooking when we're married? And you'll bake the küchen?

  • me marry? (-: LOL won't happen any time soon...

  • But I don't have much time! I'm already 45!

Don't worry. I still have all my hair. And all my teeth (except one). And everything else works fine ... hint hint ...

  • Are you Orthodox Christian?

So we can exchange the crowns?

  • yup orthodox

  • Is that music on the obverse of your 2 lari bill? That's pretty cool; what song is it?

  • Dzalian didi madloba!!! I'm learning georgian and i think your lessons are very interesting! One little thing, when you say the example phrases for the words, you should write it and show us, because this we are not going to get mistakes in the verb writting and such. ^^ yeah, gaumarjos!

  • au ra magaria mase gaagrdzele vanaxot evropas rom chvenc magrebi vart

  • Can you please teach us the pronunciation of each letter?

  • sure i can do that soon (-:

  • i love how georgian looks like. it's so pretty.

  • It sounds like sometimes when you say a sentence in Georgian that you put the verb before the object, and sometimes the object before the verb. Are there strict rules on word order or are both ways allowed. Nice videos, please continue to make them. :)

  • Oops, should be a question mark after "allowed."

  • Mostly the object is before the verb. For example, we don't say ' on the table' '.

    Table = magida

We put a verb behind table. That's 'ze'.

    So ' on the table ' is ' magidaze '. :)

  • Oh I see, thank you for the information. There also are no articles in Georgian if I remember correctly.

  • Yes, you're correct. There are no articles. :P

  • u know it's good if u study Georgian but I think that ana u r teaching in wrong way at firs explain some gramar stuf pluran singular past future present and so on some simple rules and after that teach them words start from simple ones and try to make them interesting for example teach some dialogues when u meat a person asking him how's it goin and so on :) but thanks for trying really u're a good person and 1q what's with your voice?? take care dont catch cold :)

  • there are more americans who are learning georgian or are fluent at it (-: so she's probably not the first or anywhere among the first...now if she came from the solomon islands and she learned georgian the chances of her being the first speaker would be very high

  • yea and I hope i'm the first american who wants to be fluent!!!!

  • too many consonants together AHHHHHHH!!! but i still wanna learn it.... can you start with the Alphabet and grammar:)

  • I could do a video on the alphabet at some point (-:P I'll be traveling to georgia again this summer and I'm planning a lot of videos from there. Do you have any georgian friends or a georgian bf (-: or what made you become so interested in the language...

  • well my husband is Turkish but he has georgian ancestry (Laz)... and when I found out about the culture and language... i fell in love with:) Unfortutately there is not alot of georgian's here in US .... only probably in New York or near the eastern coast of the US... but none here in Texas:(

  • გაიხარე!

  • My piano teacher is from Georgia, so I really enjoyed learning a little Georgian. Thanks for putting this up.

  • oh thats cool if you need any words (-: or phrases you wanna tell her or smth let me know

  • i am studying persian, but i enjoy your georgian language vids very much.

  • Hola

Wow I learnt something new today! and the drawings are awesome, especially the tovlis babua one.

  • wow.=) tovlis babua rules!

  • tovlis babua will take over the world lol

  • Excellente.

I enjoy the accompanying artwork very much.

  • artistic pictures

  • du hast so ein süßen Akzent!!!! ;-)

  • danke

  • Does danke mean thank you in Georgian? I think it means thank you in German as well.

  • madlobt means thank you in georgian

  • i liked this one. XD Again I am fascinated by the fact that prepositions aren't used but the words are altered instead. Like instead of saying, 'money IS IN THE wallet" you say, "money wallet" wit the word for wallet altered to mean "something inside of it." at least that is how it sounds to me.

Also there doesn't seem to be a georgian equivalent for "the" or "is"

  • ''Also there doesn't seem to be a georgian equivalent for "the"<--- Because there are no Articles in my language :) ''OR IS'' what u mean? For example if u say ''There IS a dog in the street'' then 'IS'' will be ''ARIS'' : )

  • beautiful pictures.

  • how do you say " clcik " in georgian then ? =)

  • i meant click

  • ''Click''? : ) =Daachire.

  • Ha?

  • I love yer hat, very tribal

  • thanx (-:P it makes me look like a ball

  • cool video makes me feel like im in scholl get teach ha ha

  • Thanks for the video about Georgian. Would you ever do a video explaining how Georgian verbs are conjugated. Present, Past, and Future. Thanks for all your hard work that you put into these great videos.

  • Yes! Please teach us grammar too!

  • VAIME TOVLIS BABUA!!!!!!!

  • dadna

  • In portuguese "sapule" is "sacóla" so, it's a very similar word.

  • other languages (besides english) and i do not get along very well haha, but I am definitely going to practice Georgian when I get home ^-^ you make it easy!

  • Great lesson! I pronounced all the words along with you. And it's neat that your two-Lari coin looks like our two-dollar coin. We often call our one-dollar coin a Loonie (pronounced LOO nee) because it has a picture of a loon, and when the two-dollar coin was created we thought it was amusing to call it a twonie (TOO nee) Canada changed from paper to coins for the $2 and $1. Random trivia: there was a bank robbery in Canada years ago and they took $2million in twonies. They're untraceable :D

  • (-: soo a Loo nee bin is a piggy bank and not a cockoo's nest?

  • lol good one! :oD

  • keep going! georgian going to be an international language, now frankly > qartuli magari enaa sulac araa ;) patrioti ar var *-* hehe da kidev saqartvelo genatreba? uh

  • I'm going to be speaking Georgian all day now!

  • Eemma!

  • AmateurAstronaut

(wait that sounds like a threesum nm)

  • Very nice, but I admit I find hard to understand your translitteration in latin. Why ჩ as ts? I'd use ch for ჩ and ჭ and ts for ც and წ.

I actually write წ as w (instead of ch), ხ as x (instead of kh) and others - which is a georgian standard - but I know has no sense with pronunciation. But ts is not ჩ in my opinion and can generate confusion.

Anyway, really cool. How do you find time to do all this? ყოჩაღ!!!

  • you're absolutely right maybe i have to work on my transliteration...

  • Send me the words (in georgian) before posting the video and I will translitterate for you: good exercise for me :P

  • thats awesome thanks

  • I think this is my first time commenting on your videos-I've been enjoying them. Keep up the good work.

  • i love feedback, it's what keeps me making videos

thanks for taking your time and commenting

  • Those words are hard to say! Interesting stuff, Anna! <3

  • Echt ne gute Idee. Aber finde ich schon etwas arg schwer.... =)

  • es waere superlustig wenn jemand ne videoantwort machen wuerde und versuchen wuerde einiges auszusprechen. Ich bekomme immer requests wegen georgisch (es ist interesse da und ich werde sogar ein bisschen gesponsort)

  • Nice Vid! Christmas Tree was hard for me to say..

  • yea a lot of people seem to have trouble pronouncing the ch...

it sounds like you're preparing to spit (-: try that maybe it works

lol dutch people can do it well cause they have a lot of words with that sound

  • I can say Tchanta ;o) Der Tschmodani ist wohl ein Wink zur geplanten Reise ;o)

  • wenn ich es tatsaechlich schaffen sollte....(-:

  • This is pretty interesting. Cool video Anna.
