She doesn't die. She was captured by Ulquiorra (that arrancar) and forced to go to Hueco Mundo, the hollow world. She was allowed to say goodbye to only 1 person. She chose Ichigo. She can pass through stuff because of the bracelet Ulquiorra gave her.
