  • wow how long have you been playing?

  • @smoralaura About forty years.

  • not only guitar chops but vocals too.. way cool!

  • As a singer (primarily) and guitar player (secondarily) I am QUITE impressed with the accuracy and tonality of the jazz chords you're playing. Yes...pretty fly for a white guy is right!!

  • Hey, nice playing, I've posted a similar clip and was interested in your chord sequences. Do you have them tabulated? Great work and tone.

  • i like how you swing it

  • They say I'm pretty fly for a white guy.

  • I'm Trying to learn this song in Music Lessons out of the "Real Book" and had never heard the song before (I'm new to Jazz). I Love your playing and it has inspired me to Learn this song and more. Thanks!!!

  • exact same here

  • that was awesome, i'd like my name on the list of when you get that tab done. thanks you rock

  • Hey great vid my I saw my instructor play this the other day and thought it was cool...I think Ill ask him to teach it to me...is it in the real book?

  • yea

  • good job man, love the sound u can make from that guitar

  • Tabs for this would be wonderful. Any chance?

  • Is that a rainbow strap?

  • Great job! I love it! Nice relaxed style.

    Rick

  • can u plz send me a video of how to play this song? n can u do it slowly plz? im gonna try to audition this for my teacher at music class plz

  • I've gotten a lot of requests for tabs or demos of this, so I might try to do something like that, but I'm very busy so I might not be able to anytime soon. If I do, I'll message you.

  • I've spent some time listening and watching most of your videos and I have to say that you don't have a "stinker" in the lot!

What I like the most about your performances is your relaxed, matter-of-fact style and the obvious pleasure you take in the music.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Flawless! Enjoyed this very much, Les!

    Cheers,

    Joy

  • This song almost seems made for the guitar. There's several other nice guitar arrangements on You Tube. I especially like the one by wbross01.

  • Really like your arrangement

    anf voice.

  • Thank you. I strive to be equally good at guitar and singing.

  • nice work man

im learnin this in my guitar lessons

  • Thanks. You must have found a good teacher--there aren't many left who would know what to do with this song. You've got some outstanding players in your favorites to emulate.

  • Love that big sound, nice swing, one of my favorite Ellington tunes.

  • Thanks--I went through a lot of guitars, amps, and string sets hunting for that sound! Nick Drake--don't hear that name very often. Does he still have a lot of fans?

  • vry good! wohoo

  • Pretty nice job! All the hours studying those big fat jazz chords paid off.

  • LOVED the guitar skills. You should team up with Chris 'Isto' White for some song (this one exspecially). That would be a truly magical sound experience...

  • Isto is a wonderfully skillful and creative guitarist. I'm not sure I could keep up, but thanks for the vote of confidence!

  • hey dude awesome playing, love the song! keep in touch

    Korey

  • very cool. keep it up!

  • Very, very nice rendition. One of my very favorite songs :)

  • Quite thrilling and original. I love the Gibson solo!

  • I understand that it would be time consuming and I guess it was a bit too much to ask for, however if you get a chance to at least stick a camera on your left hand fingering and slowed it down a bit I could perhaps work out what it is you are playing , or at least it would make my hit and miss approach more hit than miss :) anything you can do will be appreciated greatly , thanks . and great tune , have always wanted to learn this

  • great stuff. ANy chance of doing close ups of the fingering and possibly posting a ling to chord and lead charts so that students could learn it too ? you could break the close-ups of chords and fingerings into small managble chunks .

  • I'm afraid I just don't have the time to write out a full chart and make a tutorial for it. Writing and posting a chord chart might be possible, though. I'll see what I can do.

  • hey where did you find those chords or you played by just listening the song

  • The basic chords are from a book called "The Ultimate Jazz Fakebook" from Hal Leonard Publishing. I've modified it in some places for this arrangement, but I don't write anything down.

  • hımmm thanks a lot. Yeah it's a good idea not to write the chords down here because it's better to find them on your own. It makes it more valuable in your eyes...

  • Is that book in tab format, or notation?

  • It's in standard "fake book" form, with the melody in notation and chord symbols above.

  • Cool, will keep an eye out for that. Keep on posting!

  • great work. really enjoyed it
