IMO the cane will guard naturally, the pit might need some work because they can be very ppl friendly, but personally id go with the cane, they dont have as much negativity associated with them

@LeGeNdArYMTL I'm no expert or breeder, but ive observed both breeds side by side and had to babysit them for a friend,the pit challenged my authority once in his living room and was easily put in his place once and never told again, the pit warmed up to me right away within a few weeks, his cane corso really did not like me for months and they never bit me but sometimes would block my way in and outside of the house growling and have to be yelled at and firmly told to back down

@LeGeNdArYMTL do some research for yourself, the cane corso's main ancestor was the neo mastiff which was quite a a large and imposing guard dog that was bred for that purpose, the pitbulls ancestors were very dog/animal aggressive and very people friendly in order for humans to command them while fighting another animal or dog, dont get me wrong i wanted a red nose pit for the longest time, but they just dont guard instinctively the same way they behave differently

primolilla i agree completely just trying to convince a friend not to have her bitch spade at 6months old. u cant have one rule for one part of the body and another for another. if ur dogs well trained and ur yard is secure u wont have a problem with un wanted pups but the problem is primolilla that would involve effort and for the majority of the macho idiots on here they just want status symbol dogs

Ear crops in the U.S. are done at 3-4 months. I worked for a vet who did them for years. It is horribly painful and the pups must be kept sedated for 24 hours after to prevent them crying and shaking their heads/ears and causing all the capillaries in the ears to reopen. Bleeding from the ears is profuse.

Mutilating animals because you think it is attractive is the height of arrogance and ignorance.

Not sure what vet you worked for but that is totally false. No sedation is required post OP. only as needed afterards.. Very often its a much shorter time than 24 hrs. Funny how people will bad mouth an ear crop, but jump on the band wagon to chop a dog's balls off before its even developed. The leash law if enforced negates fixing any animal. But what a booming business to convince people that chopping the nads off is a good idea. Try it with a young boy and see how he develops. Ignorant.

Ignorance is comparing selfish mutilation of an animal to a procedure done to save animals' lives. There is no sedation required after a neuter, yet it is required after an ear crop. Usually for a full 24 hours. Leash laws cannot override instinct. An intact male dog will do whatever necessary to get to a female in heat. Period.
