1973.,,,.,,, it was good to be 17. They stayed at the St Georges hotel Liverpool, we got in and located Andy Mac kays (the saxophonists ) room ,yeh he was sweet.
Brilliant! Still the only band that I wish I could have been a member of. They seemed to arrive from another planet, sounding like no-one else. Incidentally, there is an article explaining the references in this song on a website called R*xyrama.c*m. Quaglino's is in Mayfair, London. I think it opened in the 1920s. It closed for a while, but reopened in the 90s.
Quaglino's place is an actual real restaurant near Wimbledon I think. I wonder if anybody ever really tries to dance on the tables there due to this song? Hmmm....But is there a real Mable's though?? Where the heck is it??
I got in a little argument with a friend back in the 80's over Roxy Music. He was dissing them saying their music was like a roller coaster ride. And I said "who doesn't like roller coasters?" I love this song and Roxy Music and have since the early 70's. What a great band. Peace.
fantastic, love early roxy music, does anybody know where to get the Synth Britannia & Synth Britannia At The BBC program, is it on dvd or can i go and watch it somewhere? some help would be fantastic, cheers :)
Eno should be a priest by now. That would fit him and stop him from doing the terrible things he is doing nowadays. He could reinvent the inquisition and put Chris, Jon, Will and Guy on the staple...
With 70 ties music ...what is just great : the things you did not like when you were 15 See mto give a fresh dimension when your 50...Once over the "like it - don't like it- ,you see QUALITY in CRAFTMENSHIP. You can fool others ,not me.
WoW! The whole glam rock movement never did quite reach oklahoma. . . barroom blitz by Sweet was as close as it got. Led zep, black sabbath, etc. was the standard fare I remember. Great stuff!
@MrSebboxxx thank you, but in this case the truth is stranger than fiction. i met a good friend at arkansas state university in the middle of nowhere 60 miles northwest of memphis (my hometown just so it's clear i'm urban white trash) when he was walking by my open dorm room door and spotted the cover of the first roxy music album in my small, but esoteric collection. He said, 'wow, i didn't know anyone here listened to that.' i said, 'yes, let's smoke a joint and listen.' a friendship formed.
@howardbastard - No, but his son has already been to jail, so no sense in us both going. Either that or please someone tell me it's actually legal to kill the bastards and then I WILL do it myself.

Did Eno get paid for his part in the Rocky Horror Picture Show? That's certainly what he looks like in this video.

There was nuth'n wrong with Rocky Horror. But you do make a valid point ha,ha!
I do think Eno's jacket looked rather glam. Hmm, would I be brave enough to wear it
down the main streets of Mebourne? You betcha babe!
