Valkyrie Profile 2 - Breaking Bahamut's horn with Hrist

I finally made it to the 5th floor last week trying to break off bahamut's horns and ribs so I could beat the EQ to get Valkyrie with the god destroyer skill, but I can't. I tried attacking the same spots over and over, and still his body parts freakin break. What weapon should I get/use to do that?

the 5th floor is hard. even though I'm not down there yet, I kinda figured out that almost all of the enemies(random encounters) are previous bosses that been killed. I wonder that you can't run away from them can you

Gungnir + Power Bangle + Dragon Slayer and Psychosoma VS Bahamut = One dead dragon.

Psychosoma is useless on Hrist...it works a bit more differently than just ATK=ATK+MAG.

Better off with Dinosaur, Dragon Slayer and Giant Killer.

@Bananamatic actually gungnir does better, have tried it with dinosaur+ dragonslayer + giant killer. did 4k (lvl60 with no perfect release) but did 10k on gungnir dragonslayer + giant killer

@angelmassacre skills matter more than raw weapon atk, so dinosaur should do much better

you sure you attacked from the same side with equal boosts?

@Bananamatic yeah, i did 11-10k on gungnir and 4k dinosaur (same equip). and skill setup for gungnir was giant killer+dragon slayer, and on dinosaur giant killer + dragon slayer (since dinosaur has innate descaling might). descaling might(weapon ability) + descaling might (skill) wont stack. and not to mention that i couldve done more if i put psychoma with gungnir. BTW side sweeper is better than trial of existence. and i personally would use brahms for farming the horn for his head hitting atk

@angelmassacre Then something is wrong in your game if you are using giant killer+DS with both of them and gungnir is still giving you better dmg output.

Also Psychosoma kind of sucks for physical chars because the damage calculates separately MAG and STR instead of putting them together.

STR+ sealstones won't affect the mag part, same for equipment and potions.

Better off using another racial skill.

@Bananamatic erm not to be rude or anything but Psychosoma does calculate MAG and STR together for damage. Just thought you should know that >.>

@fortetexxmaster it puts them together but the calculation is ATK*atk multipliers+MAG*mag multipliers instead of ATK+MAG*multipliers

seeing how the vast majority of multipliers affect only ATK and you don't have enough accessory/sealstone slots to focus on both, it's much better to forget about Psychosoma and just get ATK as high as you can.

@DeltaCactuar my setup was hrist solo.  Gungnir + 3 power bangle + DS + Psychosoma + Toughness. str was 3062 and mag is 1867 = almost 5000 combined.
