  • A wonderful song...Brit music from 1964 to date is just unbelievably great.

  • This music makes me proud to be British...and I'm a American with a Mom from Glasgow and and a Puerto Rican Dad.

  • Ray's so wistful sometimes.....sigh

  • Frame loves this, but i get confused with the cranberries.lol

  • some comments made me sad :(

  • Makes me proud to be English too. And I'm an Irishman born in Scotland. The UK ain't so bad, is it?

  • @Tourist1967 That's a brilliant comment.

  • @Tourist1967 i dont suppose you live in wales?

  • And what days they were.Coming out from the coalface and this blasting from the pit canteen

  • i am an english songwriter influenced by the kinks check out my song "gefrin my life story"...peace

  • The KInks - The Greatest English Band

  • Inspirational band, every aspiring british musician should look up to The Kinks

  • @stephencollieruk

If only they did, we would have a lot more decent bands to enjoy. Although it's obvious to me that The Kinks were something special to produce such a wide range of music

  • HET EILAND !

  • well said jammygift-just played come dancing in my local tonite-what a song and what a bloody great band-everybody just enjoy the music -full stop

  • Cheers for the memories Gary Speed, RIP.

  • You mean people paid to see a fat bird, blimey, if only they knew what was coming.

  • Great track no matter were your from...

  • @daco420 u total ignoramus. Considered British by who? If you live in Northern Ireland it is your own political right to choose as an individual whether your irish or british or northern irish. Read the Good Friday Agreement...dick

  • @Crazybones1992 YEAH GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not brit but also love Kinks. Better than Beatles and Rolings and whatever!

  • As a 14 yr old, there was an old building in my town called the 'Palais de dance', just like a load others of the same name. I was fasinated by this old and now disused building. Then I heard a new song on the radio called Come Dancing, with the lyrics....'The day they knocked down the Palais.....' Because of that word Palais, I took more notice I think. Stupid, I know, but nevertheless it was this song that introduced me to The Kinks.

  • The Kinks, true masters from yesteryear..... long may their music be played....

  • This and Autumn Almanac somehow have a magic touch to them. They are so right and have that 'always been there or should have been' feel to them. Thank you for the songs, Ray.

  • I've never been on a rollercoaster.There,I said it!

  • A great song, ruined by the peugeot advert.

    I'm thinking of the days,

  • Music like this makes me so proud to be British x

  • @ExodusPaddy same

  • @ExodusPaddy Couldn't agree more :)

  • @ExodusPaddy forgive if im mad, exodus = escape to freedom as i understand it, and paddy = irish, yet you said you are proud to be british, ?

  • @daco420 Not all people called Paddy are Irish.

  • @Joehere2010 he means... that is their nickname, like brits - yanks - sheep shaggers - ect.

  • @daco420 and depending on where in Ireland it could be considered British?

  • @ExodusPaddy music like this makes me feel great to be alive.. x

  • @ExodusPaddy and should! :-)

  • This sounds so much like The Beatles!

  • @ItsBusinessTime94 I think it sounds more like The Kinks..

And this is supposed to be a joke if any one wants to get pissy about it..

  • You know your in love with a girl, when every love song reminds you of her :) <3

  • Loved this song since i was a tiny little girl, still do :)

  • Volkswagen commercial <3

  • complete and utter poignancy, going to bed to dream of years gone by, loves lost and some forgotten

  • In my opinion, The Kinks masterpiece.Profound, thought provoking lyrics and a brilliant melody with subtle keychanges, loved it all those years ago- still do, in my alltime Top 10 !.

  • I performed this song at the request of my Uncle at his wife's funeral. It was his dedication to her. He joined her less than a year later.

  • @bezeker12 (Y)

  • A perfect pop song.

  • 3 people have mostly bad days

  • It was really sad at Glastonbury when Ray played this for Peter Quaife after he died and Ray started crying. It nearly made me cry with sadness

  • @Hamstertimesuper i love that video also. he really shows himself, so sweet and so down to earth. i never heard this song till a couple weeks ago and i heard this version first. did not know whether i liked it or not. now that i have seen the glastonbury live version i LOVE it and when he begins to tear up and put his hand in his pocket i just want to hold on to him and hug him. oh yes, im in love with a man who lives so far across a deep dark ocean. who wouldn't????

  • it fits perfectly to dedicate this song for a person. this is for you my sister! :*

  • me recuerda a mi querida Ete

  • It's almost as if he is saying that it is the days that are now gone, and he thinks of those days everyday. In either case, the Kinks have a way of capturing a very optimistic sadness. I remember a girl that I think of every day and will hold my heart forever. Those are the days I remember. I want those days now so much that it is painful.

  • this song always remember us to the good old time ,when we were young, and so in love, the memorie is a great treasure.

  • This reminds me of a girl i knew at school. I sat next to her for 3 years and we got on so well together. I was desperate to ask her out, but i was always too scared she might say no.

2 years after i left school, i tried to look her up and get in touch again. I found out she died from leukemia. Everytime i hear this, i remember how she helped me get through all those maths lessons and made me wake up with a smile.

  • @Critchy39 That's sad. Have been there myself. She died of breast cancer. We were engaged.

  • @Critchy39 sucks to be her

  • @Critchy39 Touching story and how music provokes such memories, especially classics like this

  • @Critchy39 maannn thats rough...

  • @Critchy39 thats so sad, makes you realise we have to dip toes in the water and take chances sometimes...glad you have happy memories of her..........bet she is too!

  • @Critchy39 oh :( that is so incredibly sad.

  • @Critchy39 omg that is so sad,

  • @Critchy39 Thank you for sharing that story. It's so sad yet incredibly sweet. I hope you're well. x

  • @Critchy39 I actually cried when the song was playing and i was thinking about your story. Really lovely <3

  • @Critchy39 thats terrible, but i know how you feel.

  • @Critchy39 the most worthwile comment on youtube of all time! i sure she wouldve taken you my friend, here's to all the people and all the memories they give us no matter how good or bad big or small!

  • @Critchy39

    Beatiful, yet sad.

  • @crapsonashovel Funny.....yeah right, I (and the rest off the world I guess) think you would be better off in a funnyfarm. Wtf made u post a comment like this??? I really hope u will lose a dear friend and get comments from other people like u make here. OOPS.....people like like u dont have friends offcourse.... And IF youre parents do love you I bet your mom and dad are brother and sister or dad is youre grandfather too; right or right?? Funny me!!! Get a life and stop hurting people....

  • @MrSkate4weed..why so serious?

  • Great song

  • I just lost my dad, he was 86n but such a good mentor and friend. Such sad times but this song is an inspiration

  • Great Song.

  • The Kinks are so so so soooo much better than the Beatles...

  • Is it loss or triumph? Remind us all that everything (good or bad) is a learning experience!

  • Merry 2011 guys, this is my first song of 2011 as it reminds me of primary school :3

  • I am thinking of the days, days I will remember all my life.

  • Best song eva

  • Ray Davies wrote some of the most beautiful pop songs ever.

Ray actually wrote it as a farewell to the band and it's original line up. Not long after Pete Quaife (R.I.P) left the group,

  • @RobbieReineldt

Seen Ray twice last year on tour and he said both times "this is one I wrote for my Mum and Dad, sometimes you can't always say how you feel" suppose it can be taken many ways.

  • Unite worldwide against the New World Order........Infowars.com

  • Up to last month this song had no meaning to me (although loved the song).

But then I found someone very special who I fell for in a big way. That month was the best month of my life, but even from the beginning I knew she would was going to leave me to go back to her own country. Now that shes gone shes never far from my mind. The lyrics of this song sum up that month to every last word. Beautiful song

  • thank you for the days .I won't forget a single day, believe me. you took my life . thank u 4 the daze thos Sacred days You are with me everyday, I won't forget you, Trav!

  • To CurtisMateer: "Days" was included on the original version of VGPS, which was released in parts of Europe and New Zealand beginning in October 1968. That version of the album was scrapped before being released in the UK or US, and replaced by a longer version for the November 1968 UK release. The UK/US version of VGPS added several songs, but omitted "Days." "Days" was instead issued as a separate single.

  • Surfing for Kinks and here you are...you get a lot of views on these earlier ones, good on you. You seem to know every liner note etc so enlighten me please - this song isn't on the VGPS album I have so why is it introduced with that title?

  • To All the Women in My Life!

  • Brilliant song.

    The video is amazing!

  • woah, a lot of people used to hang out at the beach.

  • who is the one twat who disliked this song!

  • @moondog999xx one bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch

  • Wird der Song mit jedem Jahr besser oder sehe ich einfach nur immer klarer?

  • i cant believe how many people were in the water!!

  • awesome song.... with alot of meaning

  • thank you kinks for the days....

  • Epic song from the best British songwriter of all time ...... WHO THE FUCK IS THE ONE PERSON THAT DISLIKED THIS VIDEO .... IDIOT.

  • A beautiful song without qualification. It says so much in such short time that to add to it would ruin it.One of the greatest sentiments in rock music let alone one of the best singles of the 60's.My favorite of all their 60's tunes and of course lets not forget Village Green Preservation Society.1968 was definitley the year of the Kinks even if Wonderboy got them off to a false start but as for the rest of that year it was thier year without a doubt. At least Artisitically anyway

  • RIP Pete

  • @terr0rkitten: *Great* sound upload and *brilliant clips*; editing. *Thank you* for posting!

  • "Days" brings peace and comfort {even Joy} when one is mourning. there is no other song in existance that even comes close to how "Days" takes the sting out of losing a loved one. It's brings serenity and fills a heart with the wonder of loves transcendent splendor!!

  • reminds me of my bucket and spade days ,, thank you ,

  • Days....

There was never a time like this. Believe me, I know 'cos I was there, I lived it.

66 now, and eyes are fading, but the memories are crystal clear.....Days.

    ceegel

  • Always loved this song, but it never occurred to me it might be about the death of someone, I took it to be the person left because they had to for some reason.

Echoes of King Crimson in the background.

  • I like the kinks better than the beatles because it seems like the kinks tackled the issues of everyday life and hit it square on!
