  • Sherlock brought me here. :P

  • @zionravescene Yup, me too! Still trying to figure that out...

  • @BrokenxRosesx How to survive after falling off a building.

  • @zionravescene Me too

  • What kind of numpty would cut it off before the "Ooh you lucky bastard!" line at the end of the scene? Doh!

  • how much acid did Monty Python drop

  • Whoever thought of the line "You lucky bastard!" is the genius! And the idiot is the guy who posted this WITHOUT IT!

  • big lipped alligator moment

  • Aww you missed his line "You lucky bastard!"

  • Mostly this scene brilliantly spoofs when movies will put there characters in dangerous situations and then invent ridiculous contrived ways to save them. They simply took that and pushed it to its most ridiculous extreme imaginable. Which easily makes this one of the funniest scenes in motion picture history

  • @Jimboman300 As ridiculous as believing that a certain 'Prophet' travelled to heaven in a carriage pulled by a magical beast and met Jesus, Moses, Adam, Eve and God himself.

  • wtf is this? how did i get here?

  • I was like what the fucking fuck!! XD XD XD

  • Lucky bastard.

  • When I watched this film at the age of 5 (may i point out that quoting this film got me into alot of trouble at school) I never understood the aliens bit, by my god its funny

  • This just isn't funny. I suppose next you'll be laughing at the good name of my fwiend Biggus Dickus...? And his lovely wife... Incontinentia....Incontinentia Buttocks? Honestly, you're all so wery childish! Shame on you!

  • What's even funnier is that the 20th century city lights are clearly visible on the night side of the planet.

  • Apparently the Jews put the first man in space, not the Russians!

  • this scene inspired the creation of the phrase "what the f%*k?"

  • Well that just explains it all

  • "you lucky bastard" XD

  • what the f*ck have I been smoking????

  • Only Monty Python could brilliantly pull off a space battle in the middle of a biblical movie! "You lucky bastard!" WHOOTTT!!!!!

  • @Teleoceras I think they are the only ones who would have DARED! I mean, this scene is so absolutely random it's incredible. But it's great and one of my absolute favorite parts of any Python-related stuff.

  • I love how the chase simply resumes after the space ship crashes.

  • i love the star warsic music. lol

  • what. the. fuck.

  • YOU LUCKY BASTARD

  • happens once out of forever

  • A-BIIIIIIIG-LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!

  • Can't get much more bizarre than that, I love Monty Python :)

  • Apparently They Had A Bet With George Lucas Saying That They Counldnt Put A Sci Fi Scene In Their Films So They They Did This!!

  • I can already picture this as an idea fro a future episode of "Family Guy" when Peter fights the Giant Chicken!!!!!!! Imagine the Giant Chicken as Jesus and the Aliens look like a bunch of Peters!!!!!!!

  • FUTURE "FAMILY GUY" CLIP

  • "Oh you Lucky batsard" ha ha ha my favourite part

  • Brilliant...If only ye could have left in in final few seconds where Charles Knode says to Brian "You Lucky Bastard" :)

Thanks for posting though...one of my favourite scenes from Brian....

  • Defiantely a tribute to Douglas Adams :)

  • @jmm1233 why?

  • @brianatleftyfilms go look him up on google with the words monty python then you find out why , he has wrote sketches for many of monty pythons , and even appeared in one of the flying circus episodes , and since he really good sci fi writer you can tell this is one of his ideas

  • @jmm1233 not to be an ass or anything, but why does it need to be from his mind just because it is sci-fi? It could be, but it doesn't have to be.

  • @brianatleftyfilms because douglas was one of the brain stormers during preproduction sketch work and yes this scene has all the elements of douglas adams

  • @jmm1233 Well, if he was in pre, then it most likely was his brainchild. I wouldn't say that everything with all the elements of X author is from X author.

  • beautifuly absurd

  • At lunch, we were talking about Life of Brian, and when I brought up this scene, nobody else remembered it.

  • @cameleopard42

When I got the Bluray and saw this scene (and another, with nudity), I don't remember EVER seeing them in the movie, and I watched it like 10 times...

  • hmm thats the finest explanation of biblical miracles i've seen.

  • Lol the ufo sounds like a ferrari...classic scene.

  • Carl Jung, said that UFOs were the angels of the 20th century. So Brian jumps from pillar and an "angel" catches him and brings him to the ground on fiery chariot.

  • Why isn't this an example of deus ex machina on wikipedia?

  • future family guy skit

  • Hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy moment right there

    lucky bastard

  • This should be an internet meme WTF Spaceship sounds like a good name.

  • I always thought it was meant to be the 'yellow submarine' from the beatles?

I also liked the fact that they used motorcycle sounds for the spaceship lol

  • That's never a bike engine, I'm thinking Ford DFV

  • I think this is sort of about the links in the TV show, which were sometimes animations, and is surreal like them.

  • The aliens remind me of Krumm from "Aaargh Real Monsters".

  • hahaha it made the whole movie! just like the end to mp the holy grail

  • "Oh you lucky bastard"

  • That was the costume designer saying that.

  • wtf

  • It is so obvious why they have put this scene in the movie. The message is that everyone were so busy with thinking and wasting there time on the religious stuff happening in the world that the didn't even notise if there were any other things going on in the world; for an example if it even existed aliens or UFO's.

Great Scene With A Great Message!

  • It is a parody of DEUX EX MACHINA device used in literature.

  • deus* and yes obviously

  • right, thank you

    it was a typo

  • for those of you who haven't seen the movie, this clip wouldn't even make sense if it was in context.

  • @gaspoweredredneck

it only makes sense in the writer's context of what happens when you write yourself into a corner.

  • The most random thing I've ever seen. I was laughing my ass off for the whole time and 10 minutes after. Whoever the hell thought to put a space battle in the middle of this was a genius.

  • I think it was Terry Gilliam's idea. I remember hearing somewhere that they couldn't think of a good way to transition from Brian falling off the tower into the next scene, and I think Gilliam suggested aliens, just for shits and giggles, and I guess they went with it. But I might be wrong.

  • @pmarquis73 Or high.

  • You missed the best bit out!

    "you lucky bastard!"

  • pure magic !

  • The Brits always seem to do sci-fi comedy better than we do.

  • This has Gilliam written all over it.

@waxuras - you're a total newb saying Monty Pythons sold out, you obviously don't have a clue what Pythons are all about - random silly bits that make no sense are their trademark quality

  • When I first saw this I was totally confused. Its totally random.

  • oh you lucky baaaaaaaaaaaastard!!!!

  • just because you don't "get it" doesn't mean its bad.

    I bet you loved Borat

    *sigh*

  • It missed the end bit when that man says Ohh u lucky Bástard that was like to finish it all and u missed it :(

  • It's a great comment on our entertainment industry.

    I can see it now....

OK...I'll invest in your movie...but it's got to have a spaceship fight!

But it's set 2000 years ago!

    I don't care!

  • funniest part of life of brian

    completly unexpected

for something set in ancient times to have an alien ship comes

    so funny

  • ive always had this thought that the Shepherds were following a spaceship not a star.

  • most random part of any movie, ever. awesome.

  • um... no way. I didn't completely miss something when I watched this movie, did I? I was probably 12 or 13 at the time, so it's been a few years, but seriosuly...

  • I think that's hilarious!!

  • i laughed soo hard at this its jst so random and unexpected and NYCBG ur ryt u cnt understand anything monty python does

  • Awwwww u missed the guy at the end goin "You Lucky Bastard!" LoL Thts The Best!

  • Spiker, never try to "UNDERSTAND" Monty Python! It's pure DADA! Or, ZEN! Whichever you prefer!

  • I never understood why this happened? lol

  • Sooo normal!xD christ I love this scene!<3
