i think some people are being a little too critical of Rob Bell because this video isn't him trying to act out God, its just the closest example of God's fatherly love that we have on earth. The first time I watched this vid it made me rededicate my life to Jesus so I'll always respect him for what he does. And by the way, what mowriter said was really cool :)

Bell is comparing his role as father to his son to what he sees as Gods role to us. This isn't remaking God in Robb's image--it's Rob comprehending what he (and I both) believe God intended for human fatherhood...to show us how God perceives us and wants to protect us.
This is ALL through the Bible: God as father, we as his children, joint-heirs with Christ.

I don't know how desperate your moments had been; I've been through them too, but I've learned through the years that God is not a genie in a lamp that is going to "fix" everything magically.
He wont guarantee everything is going to be easy, but he will guarantee He will be there; but for that is important to believe first, not the other way around.

Same here! I think that as a Christian, our focus should be more on "doing about the father's business" than heaven. Reincarnation doesn't do much for me. A the bible speaks that people die once and then the "judgement". B its kinda depressing seeing as how your start life all over again which kinda sucks because life sucks!

I mean when i had said god never helped me through anything i was emotinally upset and i thank you for helping me and convincing me to trust in god again and help me through what i was going through . Because i now found out that what i wanted at that time from god i got it all along !
god dosen't give you wut u pray for he gives you opportunities to use what you pray for. like if you pray for patients he isn't going to give you patients he is going to give you opportunities to use patients. if ask to help you with a drinking problem he is going to give opportunities to not go to that party or hang out with those friends.

Here's my understanding.
