  • i worked with some explosives in the oilfield's. they said if you could stretch them from the east coast to the west coast and charge them they would make the trip in 15 seconds.

  • Man that bridge was scary to drive on. You could see the water below through the road and you could feel it swaying while on it. I'm glad it's gone

  • A highly dangerous narrow two-laned bridge

  • and people wonder why our oceans are so damn dirty....

  • K wrap it up fellas, we're outta here.... clean up is done! lol

  • what an awesome sound...man made thunder !

  • Why are you guys so mad? it is outdated and they will build a newer more safer one!

  • @MrJaneDoe15 the new one is right next to the old one. The new Jamestown Bridge opened 20 years ago, with the old one being an eyesore for 14 years.

  • Whhhpooo yayyyy yupppieee we justvfucked up our waters even more cuz the oil spill couldn't do enough

  • @Gluv22 Woah man what the fuck do you have against bridges, calm your tits my god ---

  • @JiggyPepper8D My friend died jumping from the bridge on a dare. Im sure you wouldnt have been nasty if you had known. Peace.

  • @Gluv22 That was your friends damn fault, not mine or the bridges.

  • @Gluv22 Lesson Learned, dont be an idiot, it can cost you your life. I dont blame cars for he friends I have lost. He made a Choice my friends made choices, and they dies because of it. it sucks ass. Thats why it pays to have a brain.

  • wow when the thing fell into the water i said there goes the fish i bet some fish died beause of that poor fish LOL

  • BOB THE BUILDER!

  • I think this was the bridge that I took over to Newport whenever I visited RI but not sure. Never felt too safe on this thing.

  • i wish yall standing on dat bridge, so that there is something to cheer and laugh

  • This is a testament to humanities lack of an ability to count in unison.

  • "Marines all clear" Did they actually have the military do this? Or did he mean to say "The marina is all clear"?

  • Its horrible that the trash floats in the river.....

  • @zcb033100 Steel and Concrete floats..? It will all make nice bottom habitat for the aquatic life. :-)

  • Now you see it..now you don't!

  • *Demolition expert walks in*

    WHAT THE HELL? WRONG BRIDGE!!!

  • Yeaaahhh, bravooo, we just polluted water and killed a lot of fish. Yeaaaaaaa

  • I would definitely take my kids to see that...

  • Must be kind of far away. Big delay of sound

  • that probably wont gget cleaned up i mean its in a freckin river]

  • this is what happeneds when you let chuck norris loose with c4

  • Who the fuck woold applaud debris and crap falling into their prisine river?

ALL THE WHILE TELLING ME TO BIKE TO WORK? Oh.. LIBERALS. Dopes.

  • @mchar69 they left the trusses in Narragansett Bay as a reef for the fishies

  • damn its so amazing how they can take a bridge down like it was toothpicks.

  • londen bridge is falling down falling down falling down XD

  • its not senseless destruction douche, it was completely unsafe and they had built a new bridge next to it...

  • @thenazarene666 It was unsafe because they failed to maintain it properly.

  • @thenazarene666

So instead of removing the surface rust and replacing struts that were too corroded, they blew the thing up and built a new bridge, meaning they expended 80x the energy required for repair. Excellent thinking /sarcasm off

  • More senseless destruction. What a country.

  • I like the orgasmic response to the flash at 0:19.

  • i once live very close to there

  • 0:21 is Funny! thumbs up if u agree

  • i don't think fish like to breath that

  • drove on this bridge everyday w my family in the 70's and 80's. My grandmother always prayed before she drove on it and sometimes even stopped traffic at the top of it with the metal grates. The good old days....

  • Hope the survivours got on the choppa

  • I'm sure the fish got the memo that there would be a bridge falling down on them. Cool to see the effects then the sound a few seconds later. What about the rest of it tho? Give them something to do next week I guess.

  • Just dumped in the water, eh? I bet the aquatic life loved that.

  • "marines all clear" oh yeah forgot about those damn fish oh well

  • The Jamestown Bridge opened in 1940 and closed in 1992. It remained an eyesore for 14 years after that. The Jamestown Bridge was 2 lanes of traffic. It carryed RT-138. It was much too narrow to the point that not even 2 school buses could pass one another. Only 2 surviving men who constructed the bridge were on hand to see it demolished. The trusses now sit at the bottom of Narragansett Bay to act as a reef for little fishies. The current bridge is called Jamestown-Verrezano Bridge.

  • If this is the bridge across the York river, I swear.. When I went there in spring 2010, there was a canter liver there, but this might be somewhere else anyways. Just to ask, is this Virginia?

  • @Kondaar Rhode Island

  • @Kondaar no jamestown rhode island

  • typical americans.....love to blow sh!t up....gathering around cheering for explosions.....woooow bombs ooooo

  • @podgiebit hahaha

  • @podgiebit ya were not used to them being dropped on our country.

  • @podgiebit shutup you inbred hick

  • wHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY THE HELL WOULD THEY DO THAT OVER WATER ?

  • @ziggerification well if they demolished it over land they would have to take it all apart to get it away from the water and then put it back together just to demolise it again. which is kinda pointless and time consuming.

  • Steel bridges are a lot more expensive in their upkeep, they need to be painted continuously with water and rust proofing paint. I'm sure the awesomely engineered concrete bridge has twice the lanes, pedestrian and cycle paths, will last 50 times longer with minimal attention..............so why didn't they keep the pretty fairytale bridge again??

  • I'd laugh if it had caught both bridges lol

  • only in America are people more excited for the demolition of something than the building of it. classic

  • save that bridge for pedestrians? hmm,?

  • I think i saw a car passing by... XD

  • Why can people countdown? its just counting backwards.

  • applaudissez bandes de fioles, vous poluez la mer

  • @photolitherland when i was a child i been over that bridge many times sad to see it go so sad

  • What was wrong with that bridge. Looked structurally sound to me. I guess the new bridge behind is replacing it. Still, couldn't they have found some use for it?

    Las Vegas is one thing...

  • Comment removed

  • used to fish there

  • wtf dont they know they polluted the water and killed a bunch of poor little fish?!

  • That shit was mad loud. you could feel the explosion in your chest. awesome day.

  • Wow, doesn't seem risky at all to use explosives on a bridge right next to the new bridge. lol

  • Yaay booom! erm... is it me or is the bridge still there? :S

  • y did they have to do this

  • Sight travels faster than sound.

  • they should of put an empty semi truck with 53 ft trailer to watch what happens to it

  • And that is exactly why you will have a shit life with a shit job

  • that doesnt make any sense, how would my decision affect my life

  • @ChunkyMilkProduction

Stupid ass comments like that tell people that you don't have any common sense or professionalism that would be expected from the people who work in demolition.

  • but theres so many people that come to watch you could make it even more fun, i mean if it was an option go for it but if you could not do it then dont

  • Just love all the tree hugging comments. The steel will break down, back into iron ore and return to the earth where it came from, get a life. Y'all drive cars? You're polluting, stop it...and when you do, all the earth derived steel in the car will rust back into the earth too, cause it's probably a POS.

  • So this rusted steel bridge is going to serve as a pollutant to the Ocean for how long now?

  • why don't you complain about the titanic, as well as other sunk ships and airplanes too?

  • The Titanic, which sunk in 1912, and various other ships and planes that have either crashed or sunk into the ocean, did so involuntarily. This bridge demolition was a choice. A choice that probably weighed on the more expensive, yet environmentally-friendly alternative of dismantling.

  • @cronoskronos So how much would you donate to help make such a project happen? My guess is you want us taxpayers to foot the bill.

Your theories are just that 'til you back them up with science. Good luck!

  • I wonder how many birds and fish were killed by using demolitions instead of the more costly dismantling.

  • who cares, its cool

  • whoopie, yeah, yahoooo!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet those assholes wouldn't be cheering if it was their house.

  • first it exploded then you heard the sound

  • It's so interesting how people marvel at demolitions. What is it about things being demolished that amazes people and makes them cheer?

  • @Synergistik I'm assuming its because its something you probably don't see every day, it could be compared to a solar eclipse in an extreme way haha. I suppose its a once-in-a-lifetime event to see an iconic structure collapse, hence why such scenes are common in disaster/action movies where icons such as the Statue of Liberty, Big Ben, Great Pyramids, Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera House, etc are destroyed haha. Just my theory :-)

  • same reason people go watch Michael Bay movies, explosions... lol

  • @Synergistik Naturally, humans like destruction.

  • @Synergistik Humans like seeing things blow up.

    Why? WHY NOT? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

    USA!

  • @Fizzydog77 USA!

  • @Synergistik Hoorah! :D :D :D

  • @Synergistik u tell me yr the one watching demolition vids

  • @Synergistik Something amazing just happened in front of them, something that lasted for years upon years is gone in seconds where as if people with machinery went at it the project would have taken weeks.

  • @Synergistik i like watching these sort of videos because I like to destroy things. and wish I could destroy, large objects. I used to love popping the pimples, when I was younger. It the power of the explosion on the skin.

    HAHH destruction.

  • hahaha lol... d ppolz wer still happy huh!!! hahaha lol

  • It's Miller Time!

  • All that concrete in the water ? Damm the see is not a trash can, stop throwing bridges and carriers in it...

  • LOOOK AT THAT!!! they got the wrong bridge

    look what they did,

They knocked down the /BEAUTIFUL fairytale bridge with lovely trusses and steel and engineering and passion

but they left the boring, brutalist pile of crap standing.

  • yea i see your point, i'm guessing the new bridge is easier and cheaper to maintain.

  • yeah I forget about maintenance. It must hve cost a fortune to maintain all of that old rivets and pile of rust trusses etc

  • @Doomsday2060 That's OK - the politicians got to award juicy contracts to their friends. "Mission Accomplished."

  • @Doomsday2060 lol

  • @Doomsday2060 LOL, That would've been classic accidently blowing up the WRONG bridge!!

  • The world lagged at 0:19

  • pause it at 0:19. christmas

  • It was a beautiful bridge and I suppose a landmark of the place. The other bridge is so dumb, nothing special, and the locals seem happy to see it gone...

  • lol... beautiful but horrible to drive on

  • Sooooooo dumb!

  • I remember when this happened, I was just casually riding my bike across the bridge and then all of a sudden i heard a bunch of people counting down from ten, I started to count with them, then at zero... BANG! I was knocked unconscious when an i-beam hit me in the head. I woke in the river moments later and I was pissed when I found out I had two flat tires and broken chain.

  • they even closed the current bridge during this

  • hey i think i saw u falling u were all gored up.... jk haha

  • lol ...wow do u ppl actually think hes serious?

    hes joking..its called umm sarcasm

  • at least you wernt bunge jumping from the bridge when it happened.... i never bounced back up....

  • @wheredidallthepeople smells like bullshit :/

  • @wheredidallthepeople Holy shit, are you actually serious?

  • @wheredidallthepeople and then your mom got scared and said you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-air.

  • @wheredidallthepeople Life is just HELL! isn't it? Hope you didn't have to pay a toll. Demo guys really have it out for bikers!

  • @wheredidallthepeople

They closed off public traffic before they detonated. Nice fake story.

  • @asdfzxc920 lol dude u just got torlled

  • @asdfzxc920 lmao it was a joke calm down

  • @wheredidallthepeople ...hahaha... no not funny

  • @wheredidallthepeople yeah but was the bicycle okay?

  • what are they just gonna leave it to rot in the water?

  • Naw, that's where the guy's that make the big bucks come in. The metal workers (cutters) and crane operators.

  • Just look up " Underwater Welding " towertooth456. A dangerous job.

  • dude wtf? why are they all clapping that fucking annoying

    they get a ll exited

  • RI - land of corruption and the stupid voters who allow it to continue

  • Legend says the RI DOT tried to sell the bridge to a motion picture company to blow it up for a movie but got no takers. Wonder what such a production crew would have done with such a setting?

  • Epic fail for the people who cant count right...

  • is it really something to cheer about... dumb fucks

  • Point taken.

Of course, your mother cheered after I pumped her hard enough to rearrange her guts.

Don't worry; we're not going to be family. I was just giving your dad some pointers.

  • wtf was that... probably the most pathetic string of sentences ever concatenated... your a dickhead, and so are the low lifes, going on a family outing to see a fucking bridge being demolished. sad people and so are you.

  • why's your anus sticky? you dumb fuck, been raped by too many men?

  • ahaha an average american is always 8 years younger in brain size... fucking pathetic, try going out abit.
