Tennant was a great Doctor but I am glad that he made the choice to move on to further his career. I will miss the emotional impact that he gave the 10th Doctor but I am also very pleased that Matt Smith has effectively picked up the reigns. There is no better replacement IMHO.

He still could have lopped of a finger, regenerated enough to repair himself than send the rest into it.........but then again.......when are things in television really what the viewer wants to see..... @thedoctorwhoexpert Just to say that for the doctor to do what he did in Journeys end, he needs a living replica of himself (in this case his hand) and the radiation in The End Of Time was nuclear radiation not weak xrays.

@MrCarbonAtom Because he would have died smart one. He CHOSE to regenerate. You see, when a Time Lord is about to die, they can choose to recreate themselves by regenerating, and therefor not die. If he would have not regenerated, he would have died. Obviously he didn't want to die, or he wouldn't have even started the regeneration process, which Time Lord's CAN choose to do or not. An example would be when The Master chose to die instead of regenerating and traveling with The Doctor.
