i like this... but i think theres too much "soul". i heard the kate bush version first annd the thing that made me drawn into the song was that she sounded like the lyric was sung by the inner voice or a conscience. the entire original song felt like a total remorse and regret looping in your conscience in a brink of insanity towards the end. i dun know, you might hate me for saying this but take it for what its worth.

Jon, you have great vocal variation, the first note you hit was impressive, a good high tenor. Very melodic--you could have sang this song without the background track. You've made this song your own, it's different to Maxwell's and Kate Bush's.

However, you may need to work on your vocal ranges in 3.18-3.26 and towards the end I think you may have lost the rhythm; you may have to work on your breathing there and if you haven't done so, get a vocal coach.

I do know how important conviction is. But I also know that if you put too many ornaments on a Christmas tree it'll fall over. Doing to many runs make the audience forget the song and focus too much on the singer. Great singers can find the balance and I know that jonmc is a great singer.
