before i even started watching, I thought about how the grinding in borderlands was okay because the gameplay was solid, and what do i see playing in the background immediately, Borderlands.
Grinding as play lenght padding is clearly something negative, no question there. But Adam illustrates a good point. If the grinding can remain fresh and entertaining then there is no problem with it.
Technically speaking it isn't grinding if you're getting something out of it. If every time you kill a monster you feel a unique rewarding experience, then it isn't a grind.
A real grind is when you're doing something repetitive and you are either getting no reward from doing it, or the reward itself is incredibly mundane seeming and repetitive.
Devs need to know how much repetition the average person is willing to tolerate, and make sure that what little there is gets rewarded well.
hey i acutally liked too human i dont see whats so bad about it original story and place combat was decent im not saying the best but its decent but to me it came to gether really well and all the people ou thee hating on it i the reason they dont make the sequal they promised and i really want to see that come out
I hate you Final Fantasy. I don't grind. I quit until your next release. Supposedly FFXIII requires no grinding. We'll see. I find that hard to believe b/c you like unmotivating people to pick your games back up and play. I'll quit before I grind one more again!
Level grinding taken too far can make a game boring after a while like with Final Fantasy games after the orginal excitment wears off it gets tedious to level grind and kill the same shit over and over again
@morewi exactly. the only FF game that tried to alleviate that problem was FF12 in which the grinding sessions could be organized into "hunting missions" where you could score rare gear and earn cash by killing special monsters while leveling up at the same time. if a game has been designed to include grinding as a means of leveling up it would be nice if i could have some other benefits to gain while leveling up instead of just only being able to reach my next level.
has anyone else noticed that Adam has a very verbose vocabulary?

grinding is greate as long as it doesnt feel like a chore. if the gameplay is tight and you love it then grinding will come and go easy

@Tatsumi67
If grinding were fresh and entertaining, it wouldn't be called grinding.
