  • You can't be a good teacher, you just try to promote yourself .

  • pointless

  • nice

  • fucking expert village god damn... 7 fails in every video they make

  • this is shit u no there is no sweeping

  • Sweeping is generally an arpeggio played with a "sweeping pick technique", this guy is only playing scales no sweeping.

  • he has chinky eyes

  • Geez............."sweeper blues"?

  • Well, actually, this sounds more like metal, but then again, all our contemporary music is derived from the blues and that's a fact!

  • looks like somebody just had 2 see themselves on you tube huh?

  • ppl... you just need to know that expert village sucks...

  • My comment is for people who think learning anything in life means somebody else must move your jaw and help you swallow your food.!!

He basically said there are more positions same scale starting from different string!!!

Now it takes seconds to find where those positions are on the net. There are hundreds of free programs showing where all the scales are.I am a beginner guitarist and I understand free video in 2min is not meant full 1 hr lesson!!!

    Thank you for this tip.

  • you are weird man... your face creeps me out :(

  • This concept, combined with a little bit of research as to where to find the notes in the key, opens possibilities that a set position does not offer.

There is something to be learned that is basic, and some of you are critical because you are looking for virtuoso performance or hand-holding baby steps.

Now, take a minute and go back and run the video again. Note his point about the "extended dynamic range". Now, you should get the concept he is offering.

  • -sigh-

Instead of coming to this lesson with YOUR preconceptions about what is being taught, how about you pay attention to the lesson being taught?

What I mean is, the point is not to show you WHERE the notes are, but to suggest to you where the position changes come from.

He is demonstrating that the same scale (in this case A) can be played at five positions, each moving up the low E to meaningful notes in the key.

    continued

  • it his not his fault he cant teach you guys the pentatonic scales in 2 minutes, chill the fuck out and stop trying to learn everything for free on youtube he is dippin your toes in the water basically by showing you this video. you have to jump into it yourself and take initiative.

  • This bald headed fellow doesn't really want to teach any lesson. Instead, he wants to showcase his awfull guitar playing skills. Garbage. I think he is suffering from ADHD and forgot the medication on that morning.

  • Why don't you play a little faster so we can see what your doing DOUCHE BAG!!! HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!

  • that was immense, but could you do a lesson on these scales individually

  • que bosta...

  • WTF THIS ISNT BLUES ITS METAL. theres no blues rhythm, blues isnt about scales. you can play blues without knowing shit about scales and know what the individual notes sound like and it should work, btw ive never seen a blues player sweep pick

  • i guess you dont no anything about guitar and that was not sweep picking

  • i know i got emotional and said stuff that wasnt true in this video but still its not blues. its just scales. but theres no true syncopated rhythm or anything hes just playing metal. sorry man it was my mistake. im pretty good at guitar not a technical player but i just made a mistake cus i dont play metal, sweep pick do arpeggios or run down a scale i kinda freeform things. and btw im on my new profile

  • i no theres no rythem here but when i wanted to jam with my buddies and play some solos as i go along i sounded terrible but when i learnt the scales i got more familier with the notes and what they sounded like and i could make up solos as i go along while playing with my friends. scales are really helpful

  • ackooks, you know nothing about guitar. What the hell makes this metal? A lot of distortion? "blues isnt about scales" REALLY??? Cuz I'm pretty sure blues is all about scales. Minor pentatonic and blues pentatonic mostly, but also major pentatonic and even dorian in blues rock. "you can play blues without knowing shit about scales" Maybe someone with perfect pitch, but certainly not you. My guess is you can't play anything on guitar. Maybe a few crappy open chords. You know nothing.

  • Mark knopfler does sweep picking in his solos. And btw, it's not really blues, it's more rock than blues, but this is ok.

  • @zzzakkkdu13

He uses his fingers you dumb fuck. It's finger picking, not sweeping.

  • @Carthsgtr Nope.

He's using his nail to sweep the strings. That's not finger picking, and not traditionnal sweeping, but it can be called sweeping, cause it's almost the same technique.

And for the last word, FU.

  • @JORJE13340

No it's a finger roll. You are a wanker.

  • Blues has a lot of influence on metal, actually, if you listen to many Megadeth songs, most of the solos are written in blues scales

  • @ackooks

Every blues player in history knew the blues scale. You sir, are a pretentious cunt who probably doesn't even play an instrument other than your own penis... with your mouth.

  • @ackooks you're a moron

    enjoy the free lesson

  • @ackooks Congratulations, you discovered the origin of most modern day metal. Most of today's best metal musicians major in jazz performance!

  • tabs suck balls.. this guy gave a great lesson... pay attention to what he does and then figure out the rest yourself. eric, duane and jimi learned using their eyes and ears.

  • wow, this was so fucking cool, I can play blues guitar now.

  • Lots of info, but I really didn't learn anything from this...

  • You suck at teaching.... at least show a picture of the tabs.

  • wtf is with this thing about being able to play FAST and LOUD with harmonics all the time?? Blues is not about that. So many of these vids called "how to play the blues" are more about playing notes and scales (which are NOT indigenous to the blues) than learning BLUES, per se. If you want to learn to play blues, learn some freakin techniques and chords. This video is of no help to anyone, they want you to buy their stuff.

  • fuck that I haven't learned a shit. This guy suck balls!

  • "" This guy suck balls! ""

Do you know that for a fact? Just curious, lol....

  • Is that the guy from deal or no deal??????

  • might as well be trying to figure that out watching a live concert...teaching is always appreciated but most people that look this up probably can't shred in 4 different scale positions at the speed of a turtle much less that of an advanced musician...show off playing a song

  • i learnt that shit when i was 14!

  • this video sucked more dick than my dead grandmother

  • omg...expert village sucks at teaching

  • this was more of a poor attempt to show off then a lesson...

  • he is showing you the various positions on the neck of the A pentatonic scale so you can stay out of the basic pentatonic box that alot of newer guitar players get stuck in.Take the positions that he is showing you and play over some backing tracks and use em all, mix em up and get a feel for how they flow together to work out some leeds that work.the lesson here isnt what he is playing, its the positions he is playing in.

  • Blues ? . . Lesson ? . . Dude I think you're just showing off what you can do. I learned sweet F A cause it's too fast. Plus what you played sounds like the blues, just like bears don't sh!t in the woods

  • Nice playing dude. Learned FA but nice playing. lmao

  • yeah man, as the video title says, we gotta learn the PENATONIC scales with application!!! o.o

  • Blues? Are you SERIOUS? Hes got a freakin bucker on that thing, that aint blues hardware even! Poseur! No lesson, barely a great showoff!

  • lol.... none of this guy's videos are any good. they don't teach anything other than the fact that he knows how to play guitar well....

  • that was more like a showoff than a real lesson

    wtf... -.-

  • para tudo há um inicio...

  • i see no blues

  • See my video of your opinion!!!!!

  • you're not playing real blues if you're learning how to on a shitty video like this on youtube.

  • this is gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • yes ... it have a face like cock

  • ESTO ES MIERDA

  • didnt learn anything

  • whatta piece of crap "lesson".

  • ...um..

    can u talk slower please..

    im asian dude...

  • Would be much better if he showed those blues scales up close and slower so we can actually LEARN something.

  • He only shows off but doesn´t teach anything.

The play is pretty good but the teaching..."How to Play Blues Guitar: Free Online Music Lessons"? Didn´t learn anything, sucks!

  • well, i dont think that this was for begginers. perhaps you should learn some blues scales first and the names of the notes on the fretboard. i agree though that he does flourish a bit too show how to get a certain flavor? i hope that helped

  • This guy is up his own arse.

  • This was helpful thanks.

  • The greatest Blues teacher is Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  • hell ya SRV is the best this guy sucks balls though

  • he will never die man his guitar legacy will be around forever

  • it's quite clear, after playing AFDGE you move to the 3rd string on the second pattern and just get another A pentatonic and bend the last string!!! thanks dude i can play blues now!!!! this is hogshit

  • were´s the blues????

  • Why are you using a strat WITH emgs.... EMG = Metal

  • mate, just because uve got emg's doesnt mean u play metal

ive got emgs in my bass, and i dont play metal, as does my friend who plays a les paul, we play punk.

also, the pickups make more of a difference than the guitar its self.

  • this freakin blows!

  • a bit fast dont you think for a less?

  • LMAO i know! funny how he goes "for example *and then does some super amazing riff that is miles out or learning distance*

  • Too fast for anything!!!

  • Plays like he talks too fast, who learned anything from that? The guys not teaching he's on a ego trip. As Santana once said, the importance of the one note. Lesson for you there teacher John. Listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan learn more from Stevie, warning to Guitar players don't give up after watching the master.

  • Spot on mate!!!!!

  • blues? listen to steve man...

  • Did I miss something, here, because all I saw was "You can play it here, here, or here. Good luck!"

    Gee... thanks.

  • ok but you can use your 4th finger of your left hand..

  • HOW THE FUCK IS THIS BLUES!?

  • I thought it was only me! You're clearly a shit hot tech. There, I've said it! Now slow the f*** down and teach me!

  • and what i learned from this was sweet f.a. cheers for the...........lesson?

  • take a valium or two, turn the freakin distr off and them take us to the second lesson about pentacronic whatever

  • only speed.

    the blues is feeling!

  • bb king rules.and he doesn't have no idea of your pentatoinksik scales.

  • @alasotso

I hope you are joking. He is a prime user of the box position, which he barely goes out of as well.

  • Thats right.. panatonic skial.. another one.

    Lol..thats bit too fast..

  • is ugly..

  • your guitar if ugly

  • You're jumpy. You unnerve me.

  • to much distor :(

  • what is this he is playing more fast

  • I see What you do,But what did i Leorn in this Speed??? Relax and come down to another level.Have fun ,and leorn us something SLOW

  • he should go host deal or no deal...lol XD

  • I dont get it... guys like this, have all the education, can play like a motherfuck, yet, they sit around with this talent and knowledge... and fuk the dog so to say.

WHY DONT I SEE THESE PEOPLE MAKING ALBUMS OR SOMETHING ?!?!?!?!?!

  • "Those who can 'do'. Those who can't, 'teach'.

  • it's actually ... "Those who can ... DO .... Those who UNDERSTAND ... teach"

  • not every educator has the same luck writting and recording as the average "I don't know any theory" type players. Also, because this guy does have some theory and music knowledge I'm sure he has difficulty finding other players who can speak the language. I know I do.

  • Yeah, im really really jelous right now, If I knew my theory... OMFG I might have a chance at being a bar player .. lol

  • the best musicians will tell you that the easy part of music is performing...the hard part is writing it. Of course to some of us performing isnt easy..but to the best it is.

  • right i know hardly anythin bout guitars so if u say learnt loads on an acoustic guitar would it be the same as electric would u be able to do this on acoustic for example?

  • You could play this on either

  • cheers

  • *sigh* me and my stupid acoustic guitar. The only thing cheering me up about that is that i'm getting a Gibson Les Paul woot!

  • HE IS FUCKING MINT!!

  • Cool

  • yeah - modes are cool, huh?

  • Did he say "open up the greater dynamic range of the guitar" at about 1:20? Does he know that "dynamics" refers to VOLUME, not to note pitches? I hope so. That's one of the kind of terms you learn in the first week of 6th grade band, or on your first piano lesson. Makes me wonder if he REALLY knows what he's talking about.

  • Dynamics does NOT only refer to volume it can refer to a range of different things that change the over all feel of a piece of music. In this case i believe he is refering to the tone change as he works his way up the neck. it makes me wonder if YOU know what YOU are talking about.

  • The standard musical definition for dynamics is volume (and the contrast and changes thereof). Tone change is timbre (pronounced tamber). And I happen to be a music major. I think I do know what I'm talking about.

  • jesus christ, so the guy said dynamics instead of pitch, im sure your huge ego isnt helping anyone, and telling everyone how to pronounce tibre as if ur some sort of musical god is just patronising

  • Thanks for criticizing me when you don't know me. I really appreciate it. As for me being a musical god, I'm all too aware FAR, far from that. I'm still learning and I've still got quite a ways to go. What I'm concerned about here is that this guy is a teacher, or at least acting as one, and therefore should use the right words for the benefit of his pupils.

  • im sure that guys think ful your criticizing him when u dnt no him

  • ok, the only thing is that he did in fact use it correctly because dynamics are how u attack the note as well, and legato was one of the ways he used during his example. though dynamics do include volume changes, it also refers to the approach of the note.

  • i'm on your side drunkenmonkey

  • the ass scratch at 00.11 shows how crap the vids gonna be.

  • haha yeah man i agree with ya!!

  • He's probably on some vicodin or oxy. You'd almost have to be high to make a video like this.

  • lmao

  • i agree that was just a blues based riffs and not blues......BUT what i want to know is what kind of pickups he was using, the pickups sounded really good even if what he was playing did not.

  • and i dont know if he even hit a "blues" note when demonstrating the m pentatonic A patterns. not much blues at all...lol

  • hahaha idiot

  • man get a life stop showing of yer a lernt alot mate thanks

  • IDIOT!

  • esta persona no sabe tocar blues,le dejo un mensaje.escucha a jimmy hendrix,albert king,buddy guy,b.b.king,clapton,muddy waters,j.winter....buscalos en youtube.

    ps:eso no es una clase.

  • not real blues

  • this isnt real blues man... this is rock and roll influenced by blues, dont get confused

  • this wasn't a lesson---he was trying to show how well he plays. He sucks.

  • true

  • he sounds really irritated. i thnik thats pretty simple even though i havent learned them YET.

  • gud

  • idk I feel it's Soo hard but I wish 2 have a guitar

  • What an ASS-HATT

  • Bad.......1´59´´.......bad!

  • this had nothing to do with blues.. its just a basic a minor pentatonic scale.. i think the music has gotten to his head.. and hair LMFAO

  • Yeah, seriously, tell us WHAT the notes are and WHERE there are for the people who can't tell that easily. I could also barely hear the guitar. And his accent is funny.

  • there's this wonderful invention i think you haven't heard of yet. It's called GOOGLE. But caution, you might have to use your brain! He allready stated it's an A minor pentatonic scale. So type it in google for all the info you could ever want. Yes it's just so damn hard!

  • wow. so this guy made a whole video, and showed us what the scale sounded like, just so we could look up the notes on GOOGLE?!! He could have showed the notes, maybe said the individual ones or something.

  • Hearing the scale and understanding how its used sounds helpful to me... And if you REALLY cared about petatonic scales, WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU LOOK THEM UP YOU MORON.

  • ...

  • hes playing the notes acdeg (pentatonic minor) starting w/ acdeg from 5th fret then:

    8th - cdega, 10th - degac, 12th - egacd, 15th - gacde (all in 2 octaves) learn where the notes are dumbdumbs!

  • this guy sucks. "lemme show you the pentatonic scale, i'll start off by playing it so fast you don't know what's going on, and play the same scale too fast, but on DIFFERENT strings!" i didn't learn a single thing from this jerk off.

  • is this guy on speed?

  • that makes me think of those bill nye videos i used to watch.

    TECTONIC PLATES!

    TEC-TEC-TEC-TECTONIC PLATES!

  • i am an expert farter i am not going to explain how to fart butt rather bend over and gas one right into this guys face

  • Funniest comment I've ever seen on YouTube!

  • "You can open up the greater dynamic range of the guitar." Guitars have very little, if any, dynamics compared to other instruments. And he's pretty much telling us what we already know, which isn't telling us how to play it.

  • hush now, guitar is god...

  • This how to sucks

  • more like showing off than teaching. :(

  • I don't understand...can someone explain this to me plz.

  • muratcoban is right!I dont even have clue what he just did....

  • mr clean dont play

  • i know that mate

i was just browsing and came across it.

    we all start somewhere.

    good luck with your playing.

    D

  • you what??

i could play that when i was 10!!

    lol!!

jesus man, imagine if jimi was still alive.

now there is a man who i would like a lesson from.

    or even stevie ray!!

  • dude go jimmi and eric clapton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • practice this hard!

  • Man that was so easy

  • I play An ESP LTD HD400 with the chunky EMG pickups. I play through a shitty Ibanez tone plaster 100W amp with a behringer ultrametal stomp pedal and a Graphic EQ pedal after that. Im looking for a new amp to buy but I can live with the one I have for now haha

  • its like the yngwie malmsteen lesson

  • umm.................this isnt a lesson mate.....

  • exellent

  • I don't want to be a dick... but ya, in blues, you COULD call that A, but it's really C... The C in A is C#, and the G is G#... but ya, in blues, it's nextdoor to jazz... but be careful, right? =P

  • that wasnt that good of playing....

and that was a shit lesson.

what everyone else is saying about him tryna show how well he plays is true.

NEXT TIME YOU POST A HOW TO VIDEO, MAKE IT A HOW TO VIDEO.

    dumbass.

  • lesson my arse

  • wow that was actually really freaking good

  • wow think I just shit my pants and lied about it

  • seiously...that opened up the little carbon bubble in my head...;)thanks dude

  • SHOWING OFF BLUES SCALES???????
