DENNIS W. AND I WERE IN TROOP 86 AT ARLINGTON HILLS LUTHERAN CHURCH BACK IN 1964. BOY SCOUTS. MR "N" GOD LOVE HIM, JOHNSON HIGH SCHOOL. BACK WHEN THE EAST SIDE WAS THE "EAST SIDE' AND WE COULD STILL BE PROUD. MY GRAND FATHER WAS JOHNSON PROUD, MY MOTHER AND FATHER WER EJOHNSON PRODE CLASS OF 1938 , MYN SISTER KRIS , CLASS OF 1964. , MY SISTER MARGOT , CLASS OF 1966/ CURTISS JR, CLASS OF 1969* AND MDE..............CLASS OF 1971/ GO GOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I sang the vocal on the Litter's, 'Action Woman', recorded 1966, I can't claim to be objective about anything. It does amaze me that people still listen to it, and say nice things, even. The Litter's doing a reunion concert Sat., March 3rd, 2012, at Famous Dave's nightclub in Minneapolis, in case you can make it. Zip Caplan will be using his vintage gear on lead guitar. Should be a blast. Love and Peace
This is really hot stuff. The band makes me quite breathless. Now I have to check up all the tunes they recorded. I get the same feeling as when I first heard THE ZETTLERS from somewhere in Scandinavia. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". The recordings were made in 1965 - before the fuzz guitar sound became popular. No powereffect stuff only straight. raw and honest.
i need to adopt this attitude with some bulgarian chick ive been sniffing after for ages now like a complete muppet....long live balls out split your head open garage punk
Thanks for the video. The Litter were the 1st music group I liked as a Teen. I have all 4 albums on vinyl to this day. The litter was the 1st group I saw stoned too, great times.
I remember The Litter playing at The Kinetic Playground in Chicago many times in 1968-1969 when I worked there doing sound and lights. They were always great!
Action Woman (Studio version) - The Litter [Minneapolis, Minnesota] - 1967 - "With its demonic fuzz/feedback guitar riffs and cocky, snarling lead vocal, it was an archetype of tough '60s garage rock." - Distortions-1999.
excuse me,but the guitar solo is all the same with the one that jeff beck plays in "mr you're a better man than i"...or is it eric clapton ?-but this solo is just a copy of it,unfortunately -

the electras were actually better, in my opinion.....used to have a 'litter' lp of 'outakes -- many of thew cuts were electras and the singing and organ sound was top notch......'dirty old man' and 'this weeks children' are classic
Pebbles and Eva were bootlegs. They only had access to well-worn vinyl that had pops, skips, scratchy noises. The newer re-releases by K-Tel, Arf Arf and Rhino were digitally remastered from the original analogue master tapes.
Incredible!!!. On Rhino Records "Nuggets" boxed set, "The 100 Best Garage Songs of All Time." Covered by many bands including the Lime Spiders out of Australia
Hey but the best garage songs of garage aren't in nuggets...only a few tracks of nuggets are good...but the best garage songs of all time are in Pebbles Back from the Grave....Quagmir....Psychedelic States and many others compilations
In 1967 there were a lot of good bands in the Twin Cities . The Underbeats, Hot Half Dozen ,Michaels Mystics, and The Del Counts to name just a few. But The Litter were in a class by themselves. They just plain kicked ass. Going to a Litter show was an occasion. The Litter were not the most polished band around, but that's part of what made them special. They had an Attitude that no other band in town had, and nobody played with more heart. And volume! God I wish I could go back.
My favorite local group when I was growing up. I remember watching them at the New City Opera House in Minneapolis. One always came away slightly deaf after one of their concerts.
One of my favorites lp ! full of good old fuzz and reverb and the singer has a very great voice too. Remember their rushy version of I'm a man too. Brilliant !
Being a sixties fuzz fan, I love this song like many others from that era. The Aussie Lime Spiders did a good version of it in 1986 in their LP "The cave comes alive".
I think The Litter's is the best version, but The Electras do a good version of it,too. Hard to capture the same guitar sound these days. Not too many people using vintage amps, guitars, and fuzz boxes.
This song has been covered by many bands, but the original is still the best. BTW, the Litter released this song in 1967, so perhaps Sabbath copied them!
Just a GREAT piece of music. Solo sounds a bit Sabath, doesn't it? Why do all these modern bands try to rehash such sounds. It`s just impossible to capture the wildness this way again...

I don't hear in this piece any resemblances to Bowie. 'Action Woman' is guitar monster! 1967, Black Sabbath is 1970.

This song rocks. Proof that a guitar solo is about feeling and not how many notes you can jam into each second.

Bands that feel Mod Taste in the USA of the 60's most
Cover sense and the great live performance have proven it.
Of course, this is my opinion.
