Le Sigh...Things you MUST take when you go to the Nether:

One: COBBLESTONE! It's common, easy to manage, and Ghast-proof.

Two: BOW AND ARROWS! LOTS of arrows! How else are you going to defend yourself against Ghasts?

Three: BOWL AND CRAFTING TABLE! Mushrooms are everywhere in the Nether and you need to be able to make use of them or you're an idiot!

Four: DIAMOND ARMOR! Although that's kind of cheating now...

...And it would suck if Kurt died and lost his Companion Rose in the Nether...

Our map for this seed is weird. I don't know what happened, but it seems if you go south from it, there's just nothing but small islands until you run into a huge island. There is a desert island in direction f1, and there is like nothing for 3000 blocks in direction f3.

If you want to make that pyramid out of cobblestone you can use lava and water.. First you use lava on top of the pyramid then when the lava reach the bottom of the pyramid take back the lava source block and use water to turn all the lava in cobblestone

@Kurtjmac Ended up using the 292202 seed to explore the same world.. and I have to say it's so cool to be seeing the parallels and differences in the way things are, compared to Cast Away. I'm sooo anxious to see what happens and have to bite my tongue to not give away things I've discovered. I sooo hope to see if your own reaction is similar to mine if/when you come across the same things. Can't wait to watch the next few eps of Cast Away!!

You should consider grabbing dirt or cobblestone to make a lil home around your portal in the Nether. Unless of course your portal got you deep into Netherrack as it happened to me sometime.

Kurt, you should be careful with the nether. You are liable to spawn in a different portal when returning, or when you make another in the nether.

In your "all ocean world" you will probably return in a DEEP underground cave system... Beneath the ocean. Just be prepared for that badness, or you know.. Have fun on spawn island?
