I saw Matthew at PCC in the 90's... couldn't believe it! I knew that if I ever saw him again, I'd HAVE to say something! So when I finally got the chance, I "chased him" (after first losing sight) over to the Music Dept. He happened to be coming back down some stairs, as I entered the hallway... All I could end up saying (mysteriously) was that "I really like his work." ??? Hurrah for Albert Ingalls and Whiz Kids! Also saw him as a teen (w/family) at The Jonathon Club (one-time guest)!!

He doesn't have austism. I saw him at the 2006 Homestead Celebration in Beatrice, Nebraska with other LHOTP cast members. He is really short but was funny. He was born with some heart problem and had a mental problem when he was a very young kid according to Michael Landon. He was adopted along with his brother and Landon thought he was so wonderful that he created the bogus character Albert on LHOTP for him

Not trying to despute you, but he actually has High functioning autism. It doesn't change behavior much, which makes him seem relatively normal. Not saying that he isn't normal, but he does have Autism. It's just not bad. Or you could also be right! :)

I had a huge crush on Matt back in the day and read everything about him. I remember that he was born with a whole in his heart and also had a very minimal case autism which his adoptive parents helped him get treatment for. It was the aggressive autism we know. His brother Patrick who played Andrew Garvey was also adopted and also had some kind of birth defect but also got threw it. Both were very adorable and still are.

He actually has what is called "high functioning autism" it's a lesser form of Autism. It means you can function relatively well in the real world. So he really doesn't have the symptoms of Autism you're thinking of. :)

I'm glad you liked it Brujulita :) and you should be able to 'save' it as a favorite. Yes there was some problem/question with the scripts. He does die even though at the end of Laura says that Albert will come back as Dr.Ingalls. There was just some mistake within the scripts. It has left a lot of fans to wonder. It was never clarified.

Yes the show can be dramatic at times, lol. No, not all of it was based on Laura's real life. Most of it was though such as Laura wanting to become a teacher, marrying Almanzo, and her general relationship with her father that is portrayed on the show. Albert is a fictitious character.

Thanks! That is how his name is really spelled. When he was an actor, they decided to take out the 'y' to make it easier for the public. Originally Matt's name includes a 'y' :D It was put back in later on.

Hello gulgul2006...actually the spelling of Matt's last name really is 'labyorteaux' with a 'y.' For publicity purposes back in the day, they excluded the 'y' and just went with 'laborteaux' But recently Matt has put back the 'y' in his name, as has his brother Patrick Labyorteaux (JAG)
