very possible with a crv drivetrain conversion lots of time and money different gearing and lots of tuning but true on the dyno part they sometimes do that for reasons as little as speed sensors on all four wheels like my 5th gen prelude has
@nostalgiamelancolia1 I agree the 92-96 Preludes in my opinion were the nicest cars, incredible leather interior in the SR-V, sweet instrument panel and the way the moon roof hung off the back of the car ahhh memories, I might have to restore a SR-V with that greenish blueish color, I forgot the offical name but damn those were nice cars. That's coming from a 2010 GT-R owner.

just so people know, the awd conversion is susually the stock h22, and an H2B conversion with a b20 AWD transmission, you can also convert it to RWD by blocking off the two front axle mounts and just running an 85-89 mustang driveshaft to the same year mustang rear end. i have also heard that the s2000 rear end fits nicely too. but dont be fooled its not full time AWD.
@tomma232 sorry i didnt know you were filling in for my english teacher! douche bag i spelled brakes wrong good for you, all you want is some thumbs up for your comment so you have an excuse not to end your miserable life.
@RiceKiller191 And watch how fast a lambo that is awd eats up a viper or a Ferrari. You didn't make a point there. Awd is better than rwd no matter how you look at it. The weight is over the front wheels so you get better grip there plus you get power to your rear wheels as well. More traction equals more power to the ground and a faster car. There is no two ways about it
@donvitolover182 AWD and RWD both have their pro's and con's when it comes to performance. But, that is a hugely false generalization that "AWD is better than RWD no matter how you look at it". If AWD was always the best option no matter what, wouldnt you think that every single sports car would be AWD? Also, here is my last point: in the Oct. 2010 issue of Car and Driver Magazine rated their 7 best handling cars costing under $100,000. Obviously 'best handling' is in part subjective but they
kinda do know what they are talking about... Out of the 7 cars, only 1 is AWD. The Nissan GT-R. it was ranked 5th out of 7. The Porsche Boxster, Lotus Elise SC, Mazda RX-8 R3, and BMW M3 were all rated as better handling, and are all of course RWD.
@donvitolover182 Your view is VERY narrow minded. AWD DOES not I repeat DOES NOT make a car "HANDLE" better. All it does is improve corner exit acceleration and traction off the line. Handling is effected by Balance, Suspension & Chassis dynamics. In the real world Mid-Engined RWD is the perfect Combo. You change the balance of the car by modulating the throttle. I have owned all three combo's of cars and can tell you... AWD Sports cars are for people who can't drive. Rally is different though.
@donvitolover182 Also you may want to look at Nurburgring and E.C times... The fastest products cars are RWD's. The top 20 are largely dominated by RWD's. Remember... AWD DOES NOT directly effect "HANDLING". It improves traction upon acceleration. If you're not accelerating... then it doesn't matter what wheels are being powered (Such as corner entry/mid corner). Follow the concept? AWD's usually suffer Ordinary Mid-Corner performance and Turn In/Out.
if this car is truly AWD then post a response to this video showing us the rear driveshaft, rear differential, and all that other good stuff. especially your transmission.
@vince895 Any Honda can be made awd, for example a d series can use the civic wagon rtawd, b and k series can use the crv drivetrain and with bisimotos h2b kit you can run a h22a with a b series crv awd drivetrain and have a beast awd h22a
OFMG THAT SOUNDS SOOOOO GOOOODDDDDDD!!!!!!!! I seriously did not know that you could get an AWD prelude, has this been modded to fit an AWD Drivetrain?
nice awd prelude, im about to convert my integra to awd and wanted to know if ne one else was as crazy as i am, glad to see that there are. im gonna be using the stock b18 block that came in it with the crv awd trans and rearend, i havent figured out what spindels will fir yet but im shure i can fine something. i would like to know exactly what u guys did to fit the drive shaft and exhaust pipe in the tunnel though, just so i dont have to make another tunnel on the pass side, thanks!
actually not to terrably difficult if you have the time and facilitys to do the work. H2B adaptor CRV trans a tunnel for the driveshaft, hardest part would be the rearend but probably not to bad.
but just it being on the dyno doesn't prove its AWD. i still say if we can get a vid of the car on jackstands in gear just letting the wheels spin in 1st it would be more belivable.
you obviously havent paid a damn bit of attention to the rest of the conversations here. Many AWD dynos will spin both front and rear wheels even if the car is 2wd. this is needed on cars like BMWs who if there rear tires spin but fronts dont the TCS kicks in and kills your dyno run.
Cheaper AWD dyno's have a belt between the rollers with one sensor instead of requiring individual sensors and computers to calculate both front and rear.
You could put a motorcycle on this dyno if the frame was stretched enough and the FRONT wheel would spin. Does that make it 2WD?
dude look at the dyno... why would a fwd car need to spin the back tires... nd you can change a prelude to awd with a k24a1 motor nd a honda odessy drivetrain nd with an f20c motor it could be changed to rwd... look at the license plate its not even from us... wit honda n e thins possible ...
you seem top underestimate the dificulty of a drivetrain swap. make a prelude AWD would need a custom center tunnel(for the driveshaft), rear end of some sort, AWD transaxle
Preludes have enough space for AWD since they have driveshaft and there wast atleast some brakeparts for prelude with AWD label. I have seen one old lude with AWS AWD for sale. Doubt it was real thing, but who knows. And since other honda parts fit to lude, this is possible. Not to forget the possibility of mitsubishi awd drivetrain conversion. It's a big job but possible. And the info says Mular's Garage Edition... And this could have the technics of Honda Torneo.
Its not clear if this is an AWD Prelude or not, but it could 100% be AWD. In Japan, the Honda Integra was available with AWD just like the Civic was (and also in the US). I do not recall the Prelude being offered from the factory as an AWD, but it is entirely possible that the owner swapped over the AWD parts from the JDM Integra.
what do you mean. i see all the wheels spinning...but its just the dyno...im not dumb. i've seen this before. my car has done this before. my car is not awd unless there is a super secret button somewhere and i haven't found it. there is nothing to prove that the car is awd and nothing to prove that it isn't except the fact that there are dynos that spin the back wheels too.
Yes, don't believe it too. Not any proof provided.
But maybe it's possible to put gearbox from Civic or Integra AWD (if it fits), change all the suspension and transmission, exhaust and more and more... But, just imagine..... :) I read many Prelude forums and never heard of finished AWD project. RWD with turbo H22 in the trunk - yes, not finished project of RWD Prelude with engine in front - yes, but AWD - no.
all of you are dumb its the type of dyno there using that when whatever wheels start to move the other non power wheels are spun also. The reason some dynos are like this is for cars like benz's or many other euro cars that have to have teh other wheels spinning so they can read hp
what the fuck are all of you talking about? this guy is right. he is on a certain dyno that when the front wheels start spinning it spins the rear wheels to. and IF he did actually convert this thing to awd then he most likely used the H2B adapter plate and used the awd tranny that comes on the crv and used the crv drive train. but im 99% sure its the type of dyno he is on.
I've had a think about this, some people are saying its a 4wd dyno, but when front wheel drive cars go on a 4wd dyno the rear rollers only spin a little bit im sure, they certainly dont keep up with the front wheels. If the rear rollers were rotating using the force from the front wheels then that would surely throw the hp rating way off? I mean its HIGHLY unlikely but possible it could be 4wd. It could work with a deep tranny groove then modify and run an early evo box and drivetrain.
its not awd... its an awd dyno so when the front spins so does the back.... when u have a rear wheel drive, the front will also spin to simulate the road. same goes for the front wheel drive... u cant have an awd drive prelude
yeah but not with any honda engine you cant. and even if u could it would cost way too much, and with that money spent u could just get an evo or sti ir anything awd for cheaper
It would cost alot if you had someone else do it. If you have the knowledge, then, it actually wouldn't be that bad. Granite, getting all of those parts could add up, just, not nearly as much if you had someone else do it.
i could do it right now to my prelude if i wanted to...i have the knowledge, but i dont have the money, it would still cost more then the cars worth.i would have to take the stock engine out then buy me an sti engine cuz ill rather pick an sti over an evo, then ill have to get a trans, then i have to get custom motor and transmission mounts and i gotta have one hell of a wire harness to hook up the electronics... its one hell of a job and it would never ever be worth it to make a honda an awd :)
yeah u could have a rwd honda by doing an s2000 swap, but im saying it would cost to must time and money to make it awd... well at least for me it would, i just dont c wat the point is of making a honda a lot heavier by converting it to an awd...to me its just ridiculous
ill go from experience. i have a 92 that came stock with the f series in it. i swapped a h22 in it with out ne problems. it is not hard at all as long as you know what your doing and have friends that know what there doing.
Yeah it isnt that hard at all, two years later they were in from factory, engine swaps arent anything new or difficult at this stage, but AWD conversion NOT from factory isnt.
Aftermarket it just isnt worth it, its a N/A h22a. If it was turboed then ok.
If I see 4 wheels spinning on the road then ill believe it, but until then im not going to accept something thats so easy to fake.
very possible with a crv drivetrain conversion lots of time and money different gearing and lots of tuning but true on the dyno part they sometimes do that for reasons as little as speed sensors on all four wheels like my 5th gen prelude has

It would cost alot if you had someone else do it. If you have the knowledge, then, it actually wouldn't be that bad. Granite, getting all of those parts could add up, just, not nearly as much if you had someone else do it.

i could do it right now to my prelude if i wanted to...i have the knowledge, but i dont have the money, it would still cost more then the cars worth.i would have to take the stock engine out then buy me an sti engine cuz ill rather pick an sti over an evo, then ill have to get a trans, then i have to get custom motor and transmission mounts and i gotta have one hell of a wire harness to hook up the electronics... its one hell of a job and it would never ever be worth it to make a honda an awd :)
andrewhakim 2 years ago
they have that rwd/awd integra. and an awd ef hatch, both with honda motors.
shadowdreamzk20 2 years ago
yeah u could have a rwd honda by doing an s2000 swap, but im saying it would cost to must time and money to make it awd... well at least for me it would, i just dont c wat the point is of making a honda a lot heavier by converting it to an awd...to me its just ridiculous

i agree

there are AWD preludes in the states.
richardklecka11 3 years ago
wait wait got mixed up between AWD and 4 wheel steering.
richardklecka11 3 years ago
No.
The process would be COMPLETELY custom and not worth it for a NA H22A.
blacksnake03 3 years ago
I think anyone could have figured that out dude...
No motor swap is hard unless it's not meant to be in that specific type of car...
I swap'd my H23 to a H22a in my 92.
I love it.
EpicTaleMedia 3 years ago
ill go from experience. i have a 92 that came stock with the f series in it. i swapped a h22 in it with out ne problems. it is not hard at all as long as you know what your doing and have friends that know what there doing.

PLEASE tell me how you created this masterpiece
i've been trying to do something like this for a while
but im not sure what powertrain to use
Bholdone 3 years ago
You are all idiots.
The rollers of the dyno were set to 4wd, the rear wheels arent being powered.
Noone would bother engineering an N/A H22A Lude to AWD, its a waste of time and money.
Dont forget the extra money it woulda taken to get the H22A into the lude to replace the F22A. '92 models didnt have the H22A from factory until '94
blacksnake03 3 years ago
swapping an H in place of the F isn't hard at all.
the F and the H use nearly identical castings for their blocks.
there are plenty of H swapped accords running around....try telling them their cars weren't worth building.
oh, and check out the Honda Torneo...
it came factory AWD with a H22.
with european plates, that's the more logical solution.
(if it's not just fake)
psychoboyaw 3 years ago
Yeah it isnt that hard at all, two years later they were in from factory, engine swaps arent anything new or difficult at this stage, but AWD conversion NOT from factory isnt.
Aftermarket it just isnt worth it, its a N/A h22a. If it was turboed then ok.
If I see 4 wheels spinning on the road then ill believe it, but until then im not going to accept something thats so easy to fake.
