I remember back in the day, i wen't to a game at Shea where Piazza was in the midst of a slump while transitioning to life as a 1st baseman. He hit a bomb of a home run, the Mets took the lead late, and the guy in the booth played Chumbawumba's "I get knocked down, but i get up again, you're never gonna keep me down" on the loudspeaker. The whole stadium went nuts, the Mets won, and that moment proved that Piazza was; is; and always will be, THE MAN.

Ill tell you what happened.. 250 bucks for a good seat behind the plate...25 bucks to park your car...25 bucks a pop for each visit to the concessions stand...they priced us out, thats what happened. its all corporate jerks with no real passion for the team at the games now, thats what happened
I love hearing this stuff. Mike was not a good 0-2 hitter (who is?) in his career. I use to love seeing him ahead in the count, 2-0, 3-1. Because you knew he was going to drive the ball hard somewhere. Enjoy retirement Mike!
@pmdnyc no? There was never any doubt Seaver was going in as a Met, and Carter wanted to go in as a Met. I pray Piazza goes as a Met but there's always the chance of the Dodgers...
@metsman511 He deserves to go in as a Met...more games, more HRs..small amount but still more.. Playoffs with Mets, only WS with Mets...Carter deserved to go in as an expo...just like Reggie Jackson should have went in as an oakland A..(steinbrenner bought that yankee hat on his plaque..But Piazza? goes in as Met
