  • Helvetin upeaa matskua, uus levy oli ensi kuulemalta hämentvä kokemus mutta nyt pidän sitä vuoden parhaimpana julkaisuna! Welcome back, yuo are the greatest and very powerfull bad ass punk/crust band ever!

  • CVLT Nation webzine is premiering the new Amebix single "Knights of the Black Sun" from their upcoming Sonic Mass album, tomorrow 6/7/11 12 noon PT...

  • Crust is the essence of punk and what thrash tried to be

  • Sick ass fusion of motorhead, venom, and killing joke

  • I think but am not 100% that this gig was at the Bath Longacre and if so there is a good chance that i was on the same bill as played with the Amebix a few times in the 80's when with the Funneral party. I think maybe the Smart pills or Millatery surplus also may of played. If anyone can let me know were this was? inal art work from the Winter single with a full size of the man on the lamp post with the crows but sadly went missing in a house move.

I also at one time had the orig

  • ok I'm not a crustie but i heard that most crusties are vegans and how it's possibble that they are wearing leather jackets and maybe trousers?

  • @vojak1000 Non-leather jackets.

    Peace.

  • har har har sid its sid sid lives!

  • @mediattackrecords great live tuning

  • weard music weard people but it doesn't sound bad

  • Is it me or are the punks in the crowd pogoing when the song speeds up a little? Lol! Some how I don't think Amebix is the type of punk band you pogo to. The Adicts or Vice Squad yes. But Amebix? I don't know. Oh well, who really cares anyway? I'd probably be pogoing right with them.

  • What guitar does Stig use in this video? i must know, because i want one!

  • this shits pretty sick...I love Amebix... but i hate the misconception of how there all political.... the where apart of the anarcho movement but where just kind of riding it the had great music but it was real no that political.... they where apart of a early crust type movement though

  • this shit isnt a fashion show gimme a break its about feelings toward life and the world.

  • but mostly these guys i think could be called goth crust or something like that. they sound very dark wave to me and so also their looks is mostly gothic with some crustie traits

  • Yeah, always tought that too

  • Also you cannot forget the heavy influence on them from the biker scene! It especially wreaks of the darker biker look mixed with that 1980's crust goth look! This vests are totally biker oriented! this video kicks soo much ass!

    -Ømar

  • They are influenced by Joy Division and Killing Joke so that makes sense

  • @eeayt

they were the first crust punk band. so there's no reason to put a hyphen near the genre lol. a lot of current crust is heavier or less ambient, but you can still clearly hear the influence of amebix. Especially in the newer strain of shit people like to call neo crust.

  • missed 'em on the reunion tour that I heard was all aces, this song makes me feel triumphant. A++

  • punk rock is me sticking my wee wee in your poi poi you boy boy

  • does anyone ever feel that CBGBS was over rated? real punk and metal lives

  • been into punk/metal/whatever for over 10 years now

New Amebix fan, new favorite band!!!

  • Although Amebix may be underrated by many, I prefer to keep it that way so their music never becomes BASTARDIZED from crappy covers

They are truly unique and very few if any bands sound like Amebix

  • "Arise" still sends shivers down my spine everytime i put that album on. Funny thing is back in 1989 people were paying stupid money for Arise even though it was still available for 7$ from Alternative Tentacles

  • Truly those shivers are from deep expressions of awe, I feel the same way, unfortunately I did not have the privilege of living amongst Amebix in the 80's, I did see them live when they came to Toronto last May. It was an exhilarating show, and they sounded nearly identical to their 80's recordings. I am pretty surprised that people were paying a lot of money for Arise in 1989, was their merchandise more commercialized after they split up in the later 80's?

  • haha!

  • Who cares what genre a band fits into?

  • "Crust punk" they basically took equal part Killing, Motorhead, Venom and a touch of Crass and invented Crust.

  • poprostu esencja...punkASfuck!

  • seeing this live changed me.

  • Fucking awesome! Thanks!

  • Amebix took inspiration from Motörhead (and to a lesser extent Lemmy-era Hawkwind), Black Sabbath, and Venom, combined with an ethos and worldview akin to Crass. They were also influenced by various post-punk and Gothic rock bands, including Public Image Ltd., Bauhaus, Joy Division, and especially Killing Joke.

  • Good Wiki copy and paste job

  • fuck poser since 81

  • AMEBIX are not punk, metal, rock, pop, crust or whatever, they are AMEBIX, unique, powerful and awesome!

  • BASS TAB PLIZZZ

  • Someone got a Setlist for the full Show?

  • i migliori di tutti i tempi

  • memories good old days - where they so good ha

  • the internet is fkd

  • D-Beat!!!..amebix,anti-cimex and antischism are the best

  • I fuckin hate when people say they're punks adn they site Fall Out Boy. I swear to god I want to fucking puch them. Your nto punk in my opinion unless you know these bands:

    1.)AMebix

    2.)Discharge

    3.)Minor Threat

  • Thats just your opinion, in my opinion minor threat is bad cuz they started a shitty trend

  • Straightedge? Good point. I'll just switch them out with Bad Brainds or Agnostic Front

  • I think Agnostic, Threat and Brains are pretty boring. I liked them a lot before though. In my view, you are no punk if you don't know:

    Antisect

    Anti Cimex

    Antischism

and well a lot others. the swedish band No Security

  • fucking seconded

  • ? ANd this song's awesome. you don't like straight edgers?

  • I have nothing against goos straight edgers, but in these days there are many poseurs that go around saying "oh my god i like minor treath im straight edge" but they actually smoke and/or are fucking consumists...but real straight edge are good

  • i do not deprive myself of anything, except from dying

  • Oh I guess I forgot punk was about being an elitist.

  • Haven't you heard? Punk rock is about only liking things that other people don't like! It's about choosing a genre and movement that hasn't been relevant or important in twenty years as your primary means of self-definition instead of simply enjoying the music you enjoy! It's about mohawks and no-mohawks and how much or how few tattoos you have or how many drugs you do or do not do! Woo! Punk rawk! Keep on fighting the good fight!

  • fuck you

  • Ouch. I think I just got told.

  • Comment removed

  • Rathead,

Human beings invent labels. Then they cling to groups for identity. You can blame all of human history for that.

The message & attitude of this music to me seems far more relevant & long lasting today than a plethora of music trends that have bitten the dust in 20 years.

Grunge, hip-hop, crunk, indie, twee, Nü-metal. yeah. I'd hardly call punk a failure in light of those "movements".

  • Let's see here... A musical subculture based around rebellion and social indignation which started in the late seventies and continued through to the modern era, which at some point became a marketing tool designed to sell manufactured revolution to kids too stupid to realize they're being played...

The previous definition applies, of course, to both hip-hop and punk rock. The difference? The consumers. Underprivileged black kids vs. suburban white kids.

And hip-hop is a failed movement?

  • Lolz @ believing punk rock isn't relevant in modern music. Punk rock completely changed the way radio rock bands played. Contemporary rock n roll is still minimalistic, angsty, and power chord driven. Just because the 'punk' label isn't thrown on modern alternative rock or because 'real' punx wouldn't be caught dead listening to MCR or Green Day doesn't change the fact that punk rock is the main contributor to the formula of those bands.

  • Hey man, I'm hip to the jive, as the kids say. Why do you think I typed "Amebix" in the search bar? I just thought it was hilarious how many people were arguing in the comments section about what was and was not punk rock, having attached their identities so completely to a genre of music which descended into self-mockery a long time before most of these cats were born. Just trying to get these kids to laugh at themselves.

  • agreed punk spiraled off into new wave, and grunge.

  • what is the shitty trend you're talking about?

  • u dont have to know those band simply because there are plenty of different genres of "Punk"

  • cover??? I don't think so buddy!!!

  • Ok BUDDY, Rendition, or whatever you want to call it!!!!!

  • whatever still not a cover!!!

  • Laura Nyro, and preformed by Blood, Sweat and Tears, I wasnt critising the song, Amebix are one of my favorite bands and this, beyond the sun and right to ride are my favorite songs by them!

  • This is not a cover....

  • If there's no Amebix , there will be no crust punk exist !! one of the greatist underground band that influnced not just punk music , also grindcore

  • I think the scandi HC bands Anti Cimex, Asocial and Avskum are forerunners too, I mean they sounded like crust before crust existed, around the time Antisect and Amebix started releasing recs...

  • amebix was what punk should be, not any fucked up dresscode "hope for a better world" crusties!

  • @Stucken AHAHAHAHAHAHAH fucking funny shitbut so true gland my aunt was this kinda punk she listen to this back in the day

  • amebix are by far one of the greatest influences of punk rock and pioneers in manyways.i have this full video and its great!!long live the baron!!

  • simply amaising band

    one of my favorite

  • soundtrack to suicide.

  • In my opinion the best band ever. They brought alot of sounds to punk that alot of bands use today

  • what do they call metalpunk, crust? i dont know but this is a fucking good band either way, and i listen to alot of fast punk rock

  • This is fucking amazing, underrated band by many, but this is indeed excellent material.

  • po píče!!!

  • Vest core.

  • Id hazard to guess that Amebix were thehardest thing going truly metalpunk

  • Just about, I suppose. They came out of the Bristol hardcore anarcho squatty scene; the first album (lots of which can be downloaded free at Alternative Tentacles) was grittier and less metal musically. The second LP was right at the beginning of the metal / punk crossover. They stood head & shoulders over eveyone around at that time, in my opinion. I even wrote to them & they replied. Seemed like nice people too.

  • Magnificent Amebix! Fuck they were up there with Antisect as gods, fucking great stuff!!!

  • my favourite is monolith.they have done well just like the other band called grim reaper.Amebix rocks!

  • FUCKING GREAT!!!!!!

  • I'm not scared of dying and I don't really care

If it's peace you find in dying well then let my time be near

If it's peace you find in dying when dying time is here

Bundle up my coffin, 'cos it's cold down there

  • their first album wasnt that bad.this album did and still kicks ass.the confusion among my spikey headed freinds was turned to total acceptance of a being all of its own..AMEBIX.ARISE!too bad so short lived.

  • true metal punk legend !

  • Max respect for getting this on, Arise is a truly classic album, original British music at it's best!

  • fkn rockin.amebix was awesome.best original metal punk out back then.

  • I LOVE THIS BAND,SHAME ABOUT 1ST ALBUM

  • theres a bilion tracks on utube, and thers a bilion that arnt .very fkn few deserve this much respect.

  • best band ever

  • awesome

  • first amebix song i ever heard and still my favorite
