@thejailbreaktuts - LOL. Yes, thejailbreaktuts, it is quick enough for Xcode's Developer Tools. Because it has an Intel processor, it can also also run the latest version of Xcode, Xcode 4. As he said however, this is his first Mac, and so he probably does not (or did not) know all that much about the software. I should let you know, however, that a new Mac mini is set to release next month - No finalization on the specifications yet, however, it is supposed to be either $549 or $599 CAN.
Hey i was wondering i you could help me ? Its nearly christmas and i either want a mac mini or a pc which do i get ? If i got a mac it would be my first but they look and work great! Thanks
@computertwit How well does it work with Garage band? I have been wanting to get a new computer and I am a guitarist, and it just seems like a good choice. Should I get a Mac mini or wait a few more months and get an iMac?
hello i watched the video and i kind of want one of these mac mini's.
i found one for 699$ usd and it has the 2.4 intel 2 duo with 4gigabytes of ram and a 320gb hard drive. i was wondering if im getting a good deal and will it be fast? thanks. you can take your time to reply if you want to.
Itunes takes longer in windows coz unlike a mac the services are not enabled by default on boot..but in mac the service and the memory parameter is already saved and loaded. not really a fair comparison. Overall a nice video for ur first..
I expect mine to arrive in 2-3 days! So excited! I have had Mac's for about 8 years and I have also worked on "as in fixed" PC's for about 10-12 years and I refuse to ever buy another PC. They just have too many problems and need too much maintenance. Yay for the Mac Mini!
i used apple's compare a mac feature and i found out that a 1tb imac with iwork and final cut would be cheaper than a macbook pro with iwork and final cut. mac mini would be cheaper than the 2 but a smaller hd that the imac. if i ever decide to get a mac i would bet the imac.
I will travel to USA and I want to begin in mac I want to know if I should or not to only buy me the mac mini for the basic thing and something of final cut pro
Nice Pickup. I bought my first Mac 2 1/2 years ago. The 24 inch iMac. I haven't had a single problem with it at all. I liked it so much that when my old gateway laptop finally crapped out I bought the 13 inch macbook. I've had that for about a year now without a single problem. Then I bought the 1TB Time Capsule with the built in airport extreme router. Next I was eligible for a new phone so I got the iPhone 3GS. Macs are infectious. They are just built on such great operating systems.
Video to the point and well unbias opinion. This is his first mac and I currently have no mac; so I' in the same boat as he was. More reviews should be like this; TO THE POINT!
Here's something to try out: See if the new Mac Mini (2010) can boot from an SDHC card. Click on the HD Icon, press and Hold the command key, then press i to find out how much space is in use on your HD. Then buy an SDHC card that exceeds that space requirement. Download Superduper and use it to clone your HD to the SDHC card. Then reboot and hold the Option key down while booting. If it does you will have a super-fast boot up! Let us know if that works. Glad to answer any Questions.
Very hard to believe! SDs are so much faster that HDs especially for reads. Have you actually tried doing this? What is your experience in booting from an SD?
@puzzleguru NO. and SD cards read time is about 2-3 MByte/s and a basic harddrive is about 50-100 MByte/s, You must be thinking of a SSD, wich is a fast harddrive
@MYsterYmarcus I definitely knew that SSDs were way faster than even very fast SATA 7200 RPM HDs. I didn't realize that SDs (even the fast Circle-10 speeds) were much slower. The SATA drive in the MacMini 2010 $699 is a 5400 RPM. Replacing it with a Seagate Hybrid (7200 RPM + 4GB SSD onboard) would speed up the new MacMini significantly.
I have the same problem with Lakhena now that they have released the new mac mini which is considerably cheaper then the macbook im debating on what to the get, the Macbook or the Mac Mini, i will be using it mainly for graphics design and generall purpose computer with word documents etc. Any ideas?
Thanks very much for the review - you've gained one more subscriber!

On a serious note, will I be able to watch a HD movie (or HD youtube videos), have photoshop, garaband out with out lag? When WILL the mac mini show lag? How many programs and what types will it show limitations
@TranceDJNickey You could run it, but the question is how well can you run it. The first thing is that I wouldn't even consider running logic on any mac with less than 4 gigs of ram, with 4 gigs being the bottom of the barrel. in order to run it smoothly without a hitch I think 8 gigs of ram is more ideal. I would also consider a higher processor speed because when you get a lot of tracks going you don't want to start beach balling. You can run it on a mini but I would upgrade the specs.
