Sexual assault myth #14: Only young & attractive women are raped.

The truth: Rape is not about sex & love. Sexual assault is a violent criminal act which uses sex as a weapon. Rape results from a desire for power and control, not physical beauty. The majority of rapists are married and/or have other sexual partners. Men rape because it allows them to express anger and to feel powerful by controlling another person.

Excellent video. Excellent program. They even have courses for teens. I took the course many years ago and still consider it one of the best things I have ever done for myself. They have some scholarships. And professional counselors get a discount. Highly recommend it.

I graduated from the Basics class at a sister program (Prepare Portland) a couple of weeks ago. I don't have words for how highly I recommend it. It has been a life-changing experience for me. I learned to own my voice and my strength in this class. I learned verbal and physical skills to keep myself safe and to protect myself. Two thumbs up for Impact!!

As a graduate of this program, I strongly recommend it. It not only teaches self defense techniques, but helps build self esteem and confidence. And just as, maybe more, importantly, it teaches you how to de-escalate a situation so you may not have to fight in the first place.
