  • what a bunch of closed minded bigots….im glad to say that in the UK. Christians are in the minority yet I still see religious ads all the time & no one complains about them

  • I am not eating any of that shit. What would there attitude be if a billboard company turned down a xtian ad? What those hypocritical lying sacks of shit change their attitude in a New York fucking minute. What a bunch of fucking liars for Sneezuz, or Skweezuz, or Bleezuz -- or whatever the dead asshole on a stick' name was supposed to be. Fuck ' em.

  • It is quite amazing how some Christians behave very un-Christian like and bigoted when it comes to something they do not like.

  • @thisisnotanick I continue to be confused by such claims. We produced a video stating atheists have the right to buy and display publicly advertising with their message and yet we are said to be acting "nonchristian like" (whatever that means). Granted, the video contains a Christian message. Does presenting a Christian message makes one "unChristian like"? Please provide me specific examples of where it is unchristian and bigoted and perhaps I can respond less generally. Thanks for commenting.

  • @crosswindsfoundation I did not mean to say that the producers of the video are bigoted or un-Christian like, I should have specified more.

I am actually thankful that the video was made, it was very interesting and well made. Thank you for sharing.

Rather I meant to say, Christians who conspire to take down these billboards, behave very un-Christian like, and bigoted.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  • @thisisnotanick Thanks for clarifying this for me. Though I disagree with the position taken by ahteists regarding God, that does not mean we cannot be civil towards one another. I am pleased that you viewed the video as it was intended.

  • "Imagine no religion" How is that offensive? I have seen much more offensive signs.

  • @MastrodiAtheist Again, the video does not say we find it offensive. Please watch it and then let's post a discussion based on what you have issues with in it. Or, if you prefer to discuss general concerns let's make it clear that is what we are doing. Personally, the sign does not offend me.

  • @crosswindsfoundation Ok, so you yourself were not offended. However in the video the sign is labeled as inappropriate and taken offensively. Also it is compared to a repulsive and graphic billboard in New York City on the same level. These people who are interviewed i guess on the ones who made the claim. I personally saw the sign as a way for atheists to come out of the atheistic closet so to speak and make themselves known on the sites forum.

  • How does "Imagine No Religion" fall under offensive messages. A good little Christian would stop...think about it...decide he wouldn't like a world without religion and then go about his day. Why are religious people so afraid of a question....

  • @VelcroBanana The bus campaign by humanists in England began becuase an atheist was offended by a Christian sign on a bus It cuts both ways, messages can be offensive to those who do not agree with them. I understand that. Now, if you want to watch the video, listen to waht it is saying, not a preconcieved idea of what it is saying, you just might here that we actually say atheist organizations have the right to post such billboard and signage in other places

  • Hopefully you can see how one could, in this case, mistake the views on the people interviewed, for the views of the channel. I did watch the video all the way through the first time. I generally make it a rule that I do not post a comment on the video without watching it all the way first.

I myself was not trying to attack you or the foundation with the question. But I was a bit perplexed on how the sign was offensive. One issue I did have was the us against them additude he interviewees had.

  • @MastrodiAtheist I understand your point about the views of those interviewed being taken to reflect those of the channel. Having said that, I still do not see how their comments rise to the level of an "attack", "offense" etc. Clearly they disagreee with the views of atheism; but, could the same not be said of your views toward Christianity? Nowhere in the interview did I hear them indicate atheist were not entitled to their views and to promoting them. This is the key issue,

  • @VelcroBanana @VelcroBanana Sorry velcro, I meant my previos post for mastro. I actually somewhat agree with your comment and have heard Christians say they took the sign to mean think of how bad the world would be without religion. The sign is a play on Lennon's song and we know the next line. Also, it is meant to promote the website, obviously not intended to be pro-religion. BTW, no fear of the question, just wonder why atheists fear our pointing it out and responding. ;-)

  • Your fellow countrymen died for people to have free speech, your doing them a disservce in my opinion, i dont agree with everything i see but i do think they are free to post thier views. This i will die for.

  • @Scanini @VelcroBanana Okay, Are we talking about what the video states, or what you have heard from others? The video doesn't say it is offensive, though some obviously find it so.

  • @crosswindsfoundation The people in the video are against letting atheists put up a billboard, i bet atheists find religion offensive, or a man nailed to a cross offensive, does this allow them to ban religious people from putting up what they find offensive?

  • Imagine no Religion is not "offencive". I'm sure you can just feel safe in knowing your all loving god will punish those "offencive" people for eternity.

People have a right to express their ideas, even if they are as ignorant and as blind as religion.

  • I'm glad you took the time to comment, but I must say it is hard to find your argument credible. Where in the video was it said you were not entitled to express your ideas? Though we disagree with your position, we say you have the right to buy advertising, just as advertising agencies have the right to turn it down. If you really want to discuss what we "disagree" on, your right to promote your "ideas" should not be part of it.

  • Believe me, I would fight for free speech, even for your views, however you don't overtly state it, but you flirt with the concept that being godless is bad for a society. You almost go as far as to suggest that books like the God Delusion have a hidden agenda. This video based on the oversensitivity of religious people, and if you disagree with their views, youre suddenly offensive. All I suggest is actually reading the God Delusion, and then maybe youll have a different point of view.

  • Okay, didn't mean to "flirt". I do think a godless society would be bad. There, no flirting. ;-) Surely, if you truly believe what you say you do, you would think a godless society would be better. So, again, we obviously disagree on this. what we don't disagree on is whether you have the right to express your, "godless" views. So, if there is to be a disagreement, let's don't make it about that.

  • You should visit Sweden if you believe in that :)

  • I'm open to making the trip to see. You buying the ticket? ;-)

  • I don`t understand?? Why would I do that?? I do not believe that godless world is a bad thing. I just wanted you to at least see how some different culture live in a "different world".

  • "These are the kind of messages that are invading our culture..."

We aren't invading anything. We are trying to have our say. When Christian literature and ideology can have 2 isles in the local bookstore, we are entitled to have at lease one shelf.

And I'm not angry. Not at all. I'm just trying to fight for my convictions and for acceptance, in the most passive way.

  • So, would you not agree with me if I said Christians are trying to invade the culture with their ideas? Come on, you are trying to assert your ideas in the culture and, if you truly believe them, well you should. Sure you have the right to one shelf, you have the right to the whole bookstore if that is what sells. No one in the video or our article says you do not have that right. Last time I checked this was still America and you have the right to express your ideas. I am with you on that.

  • Perhaps if you had interviewed an Atheist, you would realize that we aren't trying to corrupt "your" community but that we are trying to express an idea.

Diversity should be accepted. Not rejected.

  • Hm? You sure you saw our video? I don't recall atheists accused of trying to corrupt the community. I'm not rejecting diversity but your premise of God; even as you're rejecting my view. You say you're expressing an idea. While, I reject that idea as a valid position, I do believe you have the right to hold it and express it; however, don't get upset with those who disagree with you, even as you disagree with me. I'll glady interview you. Email me to set it up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
