Very tragic, and I don't believe she was ever happy and probably resented the good looks that made her famous. She was indeed a breathtaking woman. However, I think it is equally tragic that people worship other people based on looks alone. Unfortunately, a lot of people choose not to evolve and elevate their minds choosing instead to cling to their simplicity. There is so much more to life but they are grounded in the physical.
A depressed woman who wished nothing but to be loved for who she was, not how she looked.
She was abused and used only by her great looks. She fell in love with many men including JFK, but at the end he just used her aswell, since he was a married powerful man. Joe Dimaggio is perhaps the only man that truly did love her.
Poor Marilyn, I just hope she's up there in heaven living true happiness.
Marilyn was a true beauty and the likes of Paris Hilton and the other plastic stars of today just won't compare. Her face was perfectly symmetrical, her hourglass figure, her height, erect posture and the way she walked and spoke was utterly feminine.
Even and maybe especially "sex" symbols need to know Jesus Christ loves them. He died for them. And He doesn't look on the outside as man does. He looks on the heart.

Then, realism in cinema is not particularly something valued. The movie was still /you remember, at that time/ a continuation of the theater with its own rules and techniques.
she looks like an object. not a real human being with interests and desires and hurts and pain. thats what i get out of this. same with Britney Spears lady gaga and all sorts of other women. Women today are viewed as something to be possessed (porn, guy mags) Men today seek out women for our own fleshly lustful desires, not as God given creatures with ambition and desires.
Thank you...this was truly a fitting tribute to Marilyn. So many of the people who post tributes to her on youtube dont seem to understand that ultimately she is a tragic figure...they put pictures of her with happy, upbeat music when we now all know that she was a very troubled person, and had been since childhood. Many people have never been able to get past her incredible beauty and seen the hurting, wounded person she was, even now.
Used and abused by almost every single person in her life. She also was most likely a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. In the movie " The Misfits"- when she screams at the sky in the desert ; "Horse killers! Killers! Murderers! You're liars! All of you, liars ! You're only happy when you can see something die! Why don't you kill yourselves and be happy?! You and your God's country! Free I pity you! You're three dear, sweet, dead men!"
@piewackett1 i was actually pretty surprise by her screaming in that movies, i never seen her like this in the movies before.......that was very emotional and dramatic moments, it is as if she scream out her own anger to the heaven of the unfair, injustice and her tragic life up till where she flim this movies....alot of bitterness, although life isn't fair and is tough, sometimes it is just too much to take for a person.
i think they should make a movie based on her life, a modern one, and scarlette johannson should play as marilyn... but yeah i mean a biography on her life and the pain she went through from when she was at the orphanage to her death and how it affected everyone =/ would love to see it...
A film about her would do no justice. Did you see that trash that Mira Sorvino did? Absolute rubbish. If there will be a film, there need to be an actress that doesn't just "play," Marilyn, but look so utterly like her with proper makeup and lighting of course, that you get goosebumps thinking that it's really her on the screen. I think, of all people, Heigl could look like her, but can she be her? Look at Katherines bone structure, the eyes, right makeup and lite she has it.
@willswood hmm yeah i guess heigl would be good... but i though johansen would be better cause they have a similar pout and seem physically almost identical, but your right, i just think alot of people these days need to be educated in the vintage days :)
if only she realised we did love her for her talent. she was a sex symbol, and we loved her for that. What she really wanted was to become an acomplished actress. But she had to many issues.. Beautiful though. shes an inspiration xox
Who the hell made this an amateur psychoanalysis page of the dead?
Shut up. You don't REALLY know ANYTHING. Most of you were BORN after she was DEAD already. I repeat, SHUT UP. Unless you were her shrink while she was alive, I repeat, you don't really know anything. Shut Up.
She was a triple threat, had talent, looks & class. Gone too soon. Greatly missed. End of freakin' story! Go analyze your dog or somethin'...
I don't think was any more toubled that the tres of hollywood is/was, I also do not beleive she commited suicide, she was murdered , in a different way as JFK was, but murdered the same, I also think it was the same group who killed JFK, the CIA or illimunati
I have always loved MM. I think she was a great actress but in real life, she was her own worse enemy..... we all are to different degrees. I think that in wanting to be someone important, she was also naive in many ways and trusted the wrong men. I will always believe that she was murdered. I do not believe she took her own life. I think she never knew who she really was and searched for herself in a champane bottle and drugs. Such a tragedy! I wonder if she knew that God loved her.
They made her a star but completely controlled her life. Unauthorized biography's from the people who watched the "handlers" of her career who controlled her every move and even her thoughts is very tragic indeed. These books are not "played up"and most people don't really dig deep unless theyr'e die hard MM fans, but it goes into great detail about how her life really didn't really belong to her, and anytime she fought to gain control of it, they'd intimidated her, threaten and abuse. Tragic.
poor woman but as they nothing good last forever and her face would have wore away she was the prettiest woman in the world coz after she died people just still moped bout er but the thing she waas trying to progress was that everyone was beautiful
She had a HORRIBLE childhood, she felt unloved her whole life. She couldn't handle the long hours on the set, so started on uppers, then downers to help her sleep. She really had no chance at a happpy life. Tried suicide 8 times-8th she did.
This was the real Marilyn. Sad and lonely and abused by hollywood. I wish she could have loved herself the way her fans love her. She might still be here. The movie misfits I think is the closest to her real self.
@sdavenport1981 " marilyn wasnt killed by hollywood. It was the goddamn doctors who killed her. If she was a pill addict, they made her that way" - John Huston.
@simplyvictoria15 I didn't say killed her. I said abused her. She killed herself. Hollywood did put a strain on her. A lot of people didn't take her seriously. And yes, I agree, it was the doctors who supplied her with plenty of pills to be addicted to and kill her. But hollywood caused the problems to where she had to take meds.
@sdavenport1981 that was just a quote friend. It wasnt the media that made her need the pills it was from being jetlegged from travelling, she developed insomia so she needed the pills. so ive read..
Maybe Marilyn having issues with depression made her more real to her fans.
She was shown as perfection by the studios but a scared little girl inside wanting to be loved, adored by all.
I talked with someone in the industry who knew her .
He said she would light up the room with her smile and always treated you like you were the center of her attention. Even if she was late he felt that he couldn't get angry with her as it would hurt her feelings. Like a child you wanted to protect
She had SEVERE depression. I would know, I've had it my entire life. Throw in an instable, unloving mother, a psychotic grandmother, horrible foster homes, etc. she was never in HER mind, loved. She couldn't have children-another blow. She HATED being alone. The mania was the drugs they fed her to get her up to act. And she died-alone.
@MissLeigh she wasn't diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic because medicine at the time wasn't that advanced yet but she has since been determined to have the condition. also, she heard voices, which is schizophrenia
The greatest movie star of all time. People often say there will never be another one, but in Mariyn's case it's absolutely true. No star today can ever shine so bright as her, nor will they ever have to go through what she did to get there. She is, quite simply, the greatest movie star of all time.
Hmm... you're taking a lot of things out of context with this video. It's a nice idea, but it doesn't work for me. In quite a few of them, she is on the set and is clearly exhausted from hard work, not depression.
all of actress should do so many bad thinks to be actress, they must sleep with different men, they must use drugs and they should sell their soul ,its so sad
she is such a beautiful lady, with such a terriable life, she wanted love but didn't know how to find it. everyone took advantage of her beauty..its so sad the poor thing. i didn't really know anything about her tilli say the movie called Blonde, wow its such an amazing movie, made me cry allots the poor child, i don't understand how people can be so mean, as Norma Jean would say (I have feelings too, i am still human. All i want is to be loved for myseld & for my talent) shame on you bastard's
@76christeena Marilyn did not have a terrible life, and I'm sure she would be very upset to hear people talking like that. As for the novel and film "Blonde", it is pure FICTION.
What is this piano piece called, its beautiful? Poor Marilyn as happy as she appeared in some of her photos you could see that deep down she was hurting :( Quite sad really.
I'm sorry if this might sound silly but I really don't understand why she was so sad. She didn't have to be lonely, she was extremely beautiful. Deemed as being one of the most beautiful woman that ever lived. And I'm sure there were people in her life that genuinely loved her. With that face and talent, what reason did she have to be sad?
@Fayme20 Depression can affect anyone. It has to do with a chemical imbalance in the brain. It doesn't have anything to do with beauty, fame or money.
@MissLeigh78 You're so right. Looking back at that comment now, I realize how incredibly naive it makes me look. Sometimes I forget that sadness/depression & loneliness is not pegged to only a certain group of people. But one can understand how I would be shocked to see someone who (appeared) to have it all, but actually felt that they had nothing and no one.
@Fayme20 I am bipolar and until you have this disorder, you will never know what it is like. Fame and money and beauty doesn't make you happy. This disorder is awful and most people back then drank alcohol as medicine which didn't work. Walk in her shoes. I am sure most people wouldn't last a week
oh whatever....this is so dramatic. most of these are still shots from her films. we all know she was a troubled woman....but honestly who isn't? especially women in the public eye....we all have a past and we all have secrets and we're all different when no one is around
the thing that people forget is that she was normal person and she burnt herself out, she worked hard and her personal life suffered because of the fame she got for her work. most celebrities who work as hard as she did are lacking something in there personal life, look at britney spears 2 years ago. it just seems so tragic because she was so beautifull and unique.
I was fortunate to Hear Richard Merrymans Famous last interview with Marilyn recorded long long before her death. Ay his home in New York city. The interview came out in life Magazine in the summer of '62 . The one thing that struck me ,and this wasnt inclded in the finished article was when Marilyn said emphatically to Richard. " I wouldnt swap my life for any thing, not a happy marriage with kids, this was my path" .
her nature was deeply introspective ,there's no cause or cure for that genetic inheritance..but it isoften balanced with a wonderful sence of humour and of the ridiculous..you could see all these things in her gaze and her charming smile..I know it well..a deeply rich existance as well an ever conciousness of what we are....
Marilyn and I had a very similar childhood. When you are not wanted and shuffled to relatives and your parents themselves are mentally ill, you never get over it. You live with depression everyday and loneliness. If you ever hear Lee Strasberg's eulogy of Marilyn, he mentions that despite the fame she gained, she was never happy. She dreamed of being an actress and not to be treated as a joke. She told her last interview exactly that- please don't make me a joke.
Nobody really knew who she was. Her happy side was all an act. Inside she was scared, depressed, she felt unwanted and unneeded. Sometimes directors and agents would see glimpes of this side, and wanted to help her. And did the best they could. She kept it all bottled inside, but she was beautiful.<3 She was such a strong individual. :) Ily Marilyn!
Stories of her childhood and upbringing portrayed her in a sympathetic light: a cover story for the May 1952 edition of True Experiences magazine showed a smiling and wholesome Monroe beside a caption that read, "Do I look happy?
i so agree o i think that she was misunderstood i mean i wnt through some of the same things she did except no drugs and not famous movie star i meant childhood
I wonder if Marilyn had a Bi-Polar personality. Life and soul of any party, dazzling smile...then total contrast in a matter of moments. A tormented soul.
Everyone only took her as a sex symbol and nothing more, even though she's a legend now, that's AFTER death.. She had a great talent, if only people weren't so closed minded... :/. She is the definition of beauty in my book.
She worked so hard upon the persona of Marilyn Monroe, so it isn't just a mask like they say. Sure, she had her bad times, but I think the end was just a tragic accident. She was always taking too much. I think this vdeo brings out her beauty as a person, whatever name we wish to call her. In the end, she'll always be Marilyn, and as she wanted us to love her, let's do so!
I just read her biography, she had a really sad life. Her parents were never married, she never knew her dad, and her mom was in an insane asylum almost her entire life. she was in foster homes and orphanages as a kid and only got married to her first husband at 17 so she wouldnt have to go back to the orphanage. both of her grandparents, in addition to her mother, went crazy, and she heard voices too, Marilyn was committed to, twice. Also, she was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic.
she ODed several times before in her life, but they were always able to save her. i think she's a good lesson for us all, looks aren't everything, and neither is fame or money, she had the life so many people want, but not a family, she was lonely a lot. so sad.
it means that she was always portrayed as the fun, pretty, energetic, blonde sex bomb.... but behind that little show of a character there was a very deep depressed lonely woman, in her eyes you can sense the desperation, uncertainty and fear!
the real marylin monroe is not the character every one knows, the real marylin sometimes comes out in these type of pictures... a very sad tormented soul!
she is my inspiration. RIP <3

She told Andrew Fanalota in 1950 that most of the messages that were up to the world was not she write by herself!
This indicates that the message that Americans claim wrote two years before she committed suicide is not her!!!

We are in Argentina, when we see Marilyn Monroe, see the humiliation and degradation of women
My mother said I hate Americans because of Marilyn
My aunt said we were afraid of the American television, because there is a monster named Marilyn.
There Argentine writer named Andrew Fanalota had been in contact with Marilyn Monroe
He writes that Marilyn had wanted to return to Norma Baker, but they were not king of herself!
Specifically in 1950 was threatened with kill by the CIA!!!

she looks like an object. not a real human being with interests and desires and hurts and pain. thats what i get out of this. same with Britney Spears lady gaga and all sorts of other women.

AnnaSpanna11 1 year ago 2
@AnnaSpanna11 Wow...that would be amazing...excellent idea! And i agree that Scarlet Johansen would be perfect for the role
VvGatubela 1 year ago
A film about her would do no justice. Did you see that trash that Mira Sorvino did? Absolute rubbish. If there will be a film, there need to be an actress that doesn't just "play," Marilyn, but look so utterly like her with proper makeup and lighting of course, that you get goosebumps thinking that it's really her on the screen. I think, of all people, Heigl could look like her, but can she be her? Look at Katherines bone structure, the eyes, right makeup and lite she has it.
willswood 1 year ago
@willswood hmm yeah i guess heigl would be good... but i though johansen would be better cause they have a similar pout and seem physically almost identical, but your right, i just think alot of people these days need to be educated in the vintage days :)

Tragic.

@sdavenport1981 " marilyn wasnt killed by hollywood. It was the goddamn doctors who killed her. If she was a pill addict, they made her that way" - John Huston.
simplyvictoria15 1 year ago
@simplyvictoria15 I didn't say killed her. I said abused her. She killed herself. Hollywood did put a strain on her. A lot of people didn't take her seriously. And yes, I agree, it was the doctors who supplied her with plenty of pills to be addicted to and kill her. But hollywood caused the problems to where she had to take meds.

Kammerz10 1 year ago 3
@MissLeigh she wasn't diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic because medicine at the time wasn't that advanced yet but she has since been determined to have the condition. also, she heard voices, which is schizophrenia

The greatest movie star of all time. People often say there will never be another one, but in Mariyn's case it's absolutely true. No star today can ever shine so bright as her, nor will they ever have to go through what she did to get there. She is, quite simply, the greatest movie star of all time.
tonyghost20 1 year ago
Hmm... you're taking a lot of things out of context with this video. It's a nice idea, but it doesn't work for me. In quite a few of them, she is on the set and is clearly exhausted from hard work, not depression.

Fayme20 1 year ago
@Fayme20 Depression can affect anyone. It has to do with a chemical imbalance in the brain. It doesn't have anything to do with beauty, fame or money.
MissLeigh78 1 year ago
@MissLeigh78 You're so right. Looking back at that comment now, I realize how incredibly naive it makes me look. Sometimes I forget that sadness/depression & loneliness is not pegged to only a certain group of people. But one can understand how I would be shocked to see someone who (appeared) to have it all, but actually felt that they had nothing and no one.
Fayme20 1 year ago
@Fayme20 I am bipolar and until you have this disorder, you will never know what it is like. Fame and money and beauty doesn't make you happy. This disorder is awful and most people back then drank alcohol as medicine which didn't work. Walk in her shoes. I am sure most people wouldn't last a week

the thing that people forget is that she was normal person and she burnt herself out, she worked hard and her personal life suffered because of the fame she got for her work. most celebrities who work as hard as she did are lacking something in there personal life, look at britney spears 2 years ago. it just seems so tragic because she was so beautifull and unique.

" I wouldnt swap my life for any thing, not a happy marriage with kids, this was my path" .

her nature was deeply introspective ,there's no cause or cure for that genetic inheritance..but it isoften balanced with a wonderful sence of humour and of the ridiculous..you could see all these things in her gaze and her charming smile..I know it well..a deeply rich existance as well an ever conciousness of what we are....
anziotiamo 1 year ago
Marilyn and I had a very similar childhood. When you are not wanted and shuffled to relatives and your parents themselves are mentally ill, you never get over it. You live with depression everyday and loneliness. If you ever hear Lee Strasberg's eulogy of Marilyn, he mentions that despite the fame she gained, she was never happy. She dreamed of being an actress and not to be treated as a joke. She told her last interview exactly that- please don't make me a joke.
mrjking 1 year ago

She worked so hard upon the persona of Marilyn Monroe, so it isn't just a mask like they say. Sure, she had her bad times, but I think the end was just a tragic accident. She was always taking too much. I think this vdeo brings out her beauty as a person, whatever name we wish to call her. In the end, she'll always be Marilyn, and as she wanted us to love her, let's do so!
tonyghost20 1 year ago
Marilyn Monroe is awesome, but what do you mean other side of her? i see all those sad photos so i think it has to do something with sadness?
TheFlashbabe 1 year ago
I just read her biography, she had a really sad life. Her parents were never married, she never knew her dad, and her mom was in an insane asylum almost her entire life. she was in foster homes and orphanages as a kid and only got married to her first husband at 17 so she wouldnt have to go back to the orphanage. both of her grandparents, in addition to her mother, went crazy, and she heard voices too, Marilyn was committed to, twice. Also, she was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic.
bkdiver16 1 year ago
really? i always thought she had a beautiful life. but yet some mystery how she died.
TheFlashbabe 1 year ago
she ODed several times before in her life, but they were always able to save her. i think she's a good lesson for us all, looks aren't everything, and neither is fame or money, she had the life so many people want, but not a family, she was lonely a lot. so sad.

it means that she was always portrayed as the fun, pretty, energetic, blonde sex bomb.... but behind that little show of a character there was a very deep depressed lonely woman, in her eyes you can sense the desperation, uncertainty and fear!
