  • So the English were the first hipsters?

  • what's the song at 5:53?

  • This is a really interesting watch but why is Thom so miserable? I'm a huge fan of Thom's vocals and lyrics but I don't like him personally. I can understand why sometime you'd be miserable, with touring, etc...but come, being in a band, selling millions of critically acclaimed albums, earning money...I wouldn't be too miserable.

  • @lukerr87 meeting people isn't so easy

  • @lukerr87 he was kinda having an emotional breakdown. he's a really nice guy though, don't know why you dont like him.

  • what is thom getting mad about at the end?

  • @elephantstone222 radiohead wasn't given enough time to rehearse

  • why does the footage look so old and crappy. it was the late 90's did they not have better cameras back then? ahah

  • the philly creep footage

    absolutely brilliant

    chilling

  • wow, when he's singing how to disappear completely to no one.......beautiful

  • "Can you turn on the light so we can see the people coz I haven't seen them yet"... Cute :)

  • What song is being rehearsed at 6:00 minutes.

  • @steveeeholla Its called "How to disappear Completely" from the "Kid A"

    album.

  • @steveeeholla the song is 'how to dissaper completey'

beautiful song better heard acoustically, like most radiohead.

  • wtf!!they got calle punk floyd at 6:19 in the news paper head line how dare they insult radihead!!lol

  • Thom seems so blase and upset to sing creep(we can understand) and he points his micro to the public like "if you love sooo much this song, then sing it! I fucking wont"

but then,he can't help himself smiling.. in a very "human" way

and I think it's not just contempt as some people said before

In a way, he might probably think,or feel that it was touching to see them singing all together and sharing this moment; even if he hated this song, he eventually joined them to sing

    (sorry for my english)

  • @Ziother8 Nah, very on.

  • : I'm A Big Fan Of Radiohead, And If Someone Wants To Know Where They Got Most Of The Songs For This Film Are In The Record "The Kid A Theory".

Greetings To All Who Loves This Band As Much As I Do :)

  • why buy a video game when you can play the real thing

  • I hate creep

  • I have every album on vinyl except pablo honey. I think they would more than understand from their expressions when playing creep.

  • vinly isnt special

  • @clawlesslawless Maybe not too special, but when you don't watch TV or play videogames anymore....listening to whole albums is a nice background thing. Fun to collect too.

  • @thepatient08 a mate of mines father has a excellent vinyl collection from the 70s,ive since reevaluated my opinion of vinyl, its pretty cool.

  • 'i had a great conversation with Calvin Kleine'

    'Really'

    'No im pulling ur leg'

    lol

  • In rainbows is one of the best albums of all time

  • i like kid a the best

  • When was How To Disappear Completely written?

This documentary is from their OKC era. right?

  • about 3:45 in the morning.

  • looks like he wrote it on this tour

hes doing an acoustic version for the soundcheck

  • Thom said that he wrote it during the OK Computer tour, he said that he included it in Kid A because its lyrics perfectly described the feeling the tour gave him and the pain he was feeling.

  • Yeah Michael Stipe from REM gave him the idea for the lyrics. Thom was stressed out from the tour so Michael told him to close his eyes and say "I'm not here. This isn't happening" over and over.

  • 6:15 !!!

  • It must be hell having to worry about your answers been misconstrued all the time when your talking to the press, no wonder they dont like doing interviews

  • Haha. "you are special thom!!!" I admit that is lame, but its kinda sweet, i dunno :/ i would appreciate it lol. all the fans. but the tours would kill me x.x;

  • that guy that screams "you are special thom!" is so lame

  • There is something to be queried in the: "Oh, the fame and fortune is so difficult, the questions are awful, the crowds are so stupid", kinda like Roger Waters had with late Pink Floyd. And, as much as I love both of these bands, I know they're fooling themselves when decrying their lifestyles (and they'll know it when they're older) - it's just youthful self-absorbtion. If they hated it so much, they wouldn't do it. If they saw getting a 'real' job as preferable, they'd do it.

  • I see your point here but, I'm optimistic/naive enough to believe it's entirely possible for this band to not value fame. I don't think Thom Yorke means it's a burden on him and the band - just that, in general, it's unfortunate that we are in such a celebrity-worshipping society, and unfortunate that being a musician is tangled up in that world. It makes making music less pure, you know? Yet they've decided to deal with it, because they love music so much that they will make the sacrifices.

  • I think what this film, and the band itself, were trying to express is that the sudden rush of attention and celebrity worship CAN be an enormous head fuck. It's certainly exciting and interesting, but also very taxing in the end. I do understand the skepticism when hearing "oh, look at the poor, bourgeois rock n' roll star. That must be so miserable", but at the same time I don't think success necessarily equates to happiness. At the end of the day however they did know how luck they were.

  • they're aloud to hate it. but making millions can keep you going.

  • who cares, did you guys see the part where he rocks the stadium with his super powerful voice

  • did he not want the crowd to sing along? i couldnt tell

  • How could the crowd not relise

I would never sing along to creep

  • does thom like fans?

  • awh man i feel so sorry for them in this film. i'm so glad i live on a council estate and i've got my minimum wage 9-5 office job. i can't imagine how bad it must be for them playing songs they wrote to thousands of people every single night.

  • Gotta love Andy.

  • what's Thom saying at 7:17-7:28?

  • you know what .. i am such an ass that i found this out today

  • 3:32 Walt Whitman Bridge. They're leaving Philly right there probably on the way to NYC

  • jonny's hair looks shiny and sofffft :P

  • cual es la cancion del minuto 3:48 ?

    what's the song on 3:48 ?

  • The lyrics are from "Climbing Up The Walls" and it seems to be a remix of that song.

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like climbing up the wall

  • its the zero 7 remix of climbing up the walls

  • 2:23 YOU ARE SPECIAL THOM

    lol xD

thanks for uploading thi m8, i've been meanting to watch this for a long time :)

  • thom is so hot.

  • Poor Thom. That must feel like hell.

  • The contempt on Thom's face while he holds out the microphone during Creep is searing.

  • radiohead is the best band in the world!

  • creep was both the worst thing to happen to the band, but the best thing for the fans in that it provided them with inspiration to make so much great music

  • Being geniuses can be a curse.

  • I feel so bad for them as they're playing Creep.

  • ha oh jesus thom's face as he holds the mic out to the audience is priceless. like snide indifference to what can be interpreted as either actual pleasure or as acidic condescension

  • @aburtonmatt I think he is laughing at the irony of thousands of people singing the words to a song about being a creep, wierdo, loner etc

  • @aburtonmatt Don't forget the way he sings it. He's sneering the lyrics out!

  • @aburtonmatt i think a little bit of both. plus the way he sings like a bastard as soon as he pulls the mic back is just like WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING HERE?

  • damn seeing thom hold the mic during creep makes me feel so awful for what they had to go through

  • The most powerful moments I find in this film is whenever the band has their photographs taken. The flash bulb seems like a incessant attacker just sloooooooowly wearing them down. You many not see it so much here, but it definitely shows that it's getting to them, especially Thom, later on in the film.

  • does anybody know what the song is with the new york hotel sequence

  • its a remix of "climbing up the walls" by sneakerpimps

  • wrong, it's the zero 7 mix from the karma police b side

  • such an awesome remix. and i so rarely like remixes...

  • It's well known that Radio Head was invented by the US Defense Department under Ronald Reagan.. as a new "opiate of the masses" when the C.I.A began alerting the government that traditional religion was falling out of favor with the younger generation. In the end, it turned out that Huey Lewis and The News was far more effective towards the governments objectives, so Radio Head was shelved ( the members were actually cryogenicaly frozen) for over 15 years. This is well documented.

  • If you can't control it don't smoke it, dude...

  • lol

  • @ybyainc can you link to the "documents"?

  • Wow. Thom is shorter than I thought.

  • hes brilliant

  • I bet he hates it because he wrote it for a chick who he thought would change her mind about him, but didn't.

  • i bet he hates it because its the one song that everyone knows and its certainly not their best, and it makes him sick just to think about it. or it could be but you said, who knows.

  • They all hate it because it was the only song people cared for by them for a good 5 years.

  • Haha

Thom: I wish I was special...

Crazy US fan: YOU ARE SPECIAL THOM!

  • You > Creep

  • Thom playing How To Disappear Completely alone on the empty stage, with almost no one in the stadium, is just... Wow.

  • thom fucking hates creep... just look at him

  • but then he still gives it his fucking all! i hate that song, but some people don't, just shows his devotion to their fans, even though they don't play it anymore. Or maybe, as i am a MAAAAASSSIIIIIVE radiohead fan, they all think like me and don't want to hear it, either way they did then and his devotion still stands.

  • i think what your interpreting as " giving it his all " is him so fucking disgusted with the song ... he is obviously hating it

  • but he's not being lazy about it, he's doing it for the people who wanna hear it.

  • i agree, doesn't matter how hard he hates this song, he's a true professional.

  • 2.29

    You are special!

  • haha i heard that too

  • Maybe this is just me, but hearing thom play How to disappear in this video reminded me a bit of The Smiths, i think it might have been the guitar =/

I know they were influenced by the smiths, so that might be why.

Regardless, IT IS AWESOME! everything about them is amazing. =D

  • I was reminded of the Smiths while watching Creep at the beginning actually. Just Thom's sharp sarcasm while singing, it gave off a very morrissey-y vibe to me.

  • yeah, you can really tell they were both sick of their hit songs

  • Hahahah good for Thom, get the fans to sing it then butcher it. Really, if he feels it should die, it should. Thank you.

  • what time is it in Moscow

  • I think it's really funny that they played Creep because I had almost completely forgot they wrote that. I understand why Thom has such resentment for it... getting trapped into playing one thing would be so frustrating. That said, it's still a decent song.

  • i think i had the same dislike towards my first song as Thom had to 'creep'...

somehow everyone was too into it, pushing me to sing it, and then once i was finished, to sing it again...it made me sick, and i can't hear my song without feeling like crap.

i guess the difference is that 'creep' is a great song and mine is crap. haha

  • who are you?

  • your worst nightmare?? haha

i'm not a famous person, (nor want to be) if that's why you ask. =D

  • Damn..... I can't hear half of it...

  • tht comment was for Owninator666 also srry for any spelling mistakes

  • bahahahaha i love how he's just holding the mic out to the crowd thinking "i fucking hate this ruddy song"

  • I see Thom was already enjoying How to Disappear Completely prior to Kid A

  • yeah, the song came about when thom just left the stage on this tour and nearly had a break so he rang micheal stipely who kept saying to him to say to himself that "I'm not here! this isnt happening! I'm not here!" also the liffy that is mentioned in the song was what thom saw before he left the stage. evidentley the song was going to be called how to disappear completely and never return but they decided against it

  • It was actually supposed to be called How To Disappear Completely and Never Be Found, but whatever....

  • aye wats the song playin in the background around 3:45 seconds its real trippy

  • Sounds like a different version of "Climbing Up the Walls".

  • thank you man i found the song its a remix of climbing up the walls by zero 7

  • i think the lines "whatever makes you happy/whatever you want" take on a whole new meaning to thom when he's singin creep here hah

  • Holy shit, his singing of the interlude in Creep is AMAZING.

  • The contempt on his face when he plays Creep is almost scary...

  • Yeah, he fucking hates it.

  • I've heard that he hates creep loads, but can someone fill me in on why?

  • He hates Creep because it started to overshadow the band itself. People would go to Radiohead gigs simply to hear Creep and nothing else. They essentially became That Band That Did Creep, and Thom hated that.

  • I remember hearing that Thom thinks it's too depressing and that he doesn't like to play it. In addition to that, "Creep" is what made Radiohead famous, and even after the band had moved away from the style of "Pablo Honey", it was the only song anyone wanted to hear at their concerts. I guess Thom couldn't understand why anyone wanted to hear a song like that when he knows that Radiohead has made such better music since then. I don't think they've played it in a long time.

  • but didnt they write the song as a joke and people took it serious.

thats what my dad told me, hes been following radiohead since '93. he played them for me when i was a baby. '94+ =DD

  • @slipknot666lambofgod

I think that's Paranoid Android, actually. It's big ball of nonsense to them, but everyone took it so seriously. xD

  • @gypsyeyes008 they played Creep at Glastonbury a couple years ago when I was there, and the entire performance was glorious. Re-watching it on youtube the band looked like they had a good time playing it too, though I'm with you on everything else you said. You should look up that concert though, its great

  • I love Thom just holding the mic up...as if to say, "You want the damn song played so bad...sing it yourself!"

  • Priceless smile at 0:43

  • too bad it doesnt have subtitles at all.

I bought this dvd a few years ago and didn't get it too much because of that, but time has passed and now I'm wiser, have to give it a spin once again XD lol

Yes, really hard times for them, i wonder what they would be thinking now about all those things

  • gracias!!!! :D

  • i always liked that shit his says

"...celebrities in america are treated like they live on a higher plain .. they are untouchable

is fucking mad, it's really.. insane"

    something like that

    it's awesome

  • Is this a dvd,vhs?

  • DVD

  • available where?

  • W.A.S.T.E Store

  • Ill check on ebay. What is a W.A.S.T.E store? An Independant record store. Sounds like a cool place.

  • waste . uk . com

It's the official Radiohead store... offers clothing, discs, DVD, t-shirts, music videos, posters, and tab books.

  • OMG! I have to check it out? Ive been dying for a jacket with a big fat Radiohead sign written in bold letters.

  • everywhere, HMV Walmart, record shop, amazon Just search a bit.
