I purchased the Phottix battery grip for my D700 after watching this review. It was on my camera for two days and suddenly my lcd display stopped working. I could hear the camera taking pics but nothing on the lcd. I had to send my camera to Nikon to be repaired. Luckily it was still under warranty. I was really upset. I did a search and found other people on flickr who had experienced the same thing with this product. Buyer beware. I will never buy non-Nikon products again.
Is there a possibility that Nikon would void your warranty if you run an aftermarket grip, like the one you discribed, on their camera's?????? This is why I always choose to run original Nikon products. The price is higher and so is the quality.
@NeonMoron It won't work on your D3000. The grip for the D700/D300 is different than the grip for the D3000 (if it has any). You have to check to see what grip your camera uses.
Good review, but among the MB-D10 clones, I think that the Adorama "Meike" grip is 1000x better than the Phottix (I've have both). The MB-D10 is overpriced fr what it is IMO.
I got one, it's made of plastic and not magnesium alloy, but not necessary for me anyways, the rubber grip is kinda hard, no grip on those, feel for the buttons are different but that's just being too picky. For that kinda price, its worth it.
Thanks a lot for the review! It was very hepful. I was so stoked to find this product, and see that it was cheap. I am personally really let down with the price of the MB D10 grip from Nikon, and was even more bummed to hear that if you want the 8fps, you need to buy a $150 battery plus the grip or just use AA's. I'll probably get one of these and just use AA batteries, cause hey, it's cheaper and it works. Thanks again.

you dont need a battery grip to shoot 8fps.. you just need to do a bracket burst for your d700..

Good thing I saw your updated review of the Phottix battery grip where you smash it to pieces before I went out and purchased one!

presidents choice is a canadian company, no? They have some great ice cream. good review btw..thanks!
Also is the nikon mb-10 grip made of metal or plastic like these? If i was metal I would rather go with that no matter the higher price..
and last, what configuration can one use to get 8FPS? Yes, I know of the mod, but wondering about the grip.

50mm ƒ/1.8 I assume? If it is, can you give me a little insight on that lens. I'm looking into it.
